Summary
The emotion in Akechi’s gaze felt like it was flaying Akira alive. Akira wanted to shut his eyes from it all, so that he would no longer have to look. At the hurt and honesty both in Akechi’s expression, at the sympathetic pity Maruki was giving, at the distressed concern emanating from Morgana’s furry features. Akira can’t look at Akechi’s face without seeing an image of him, vacant-eyed with his brains shot out and rivulets of blood running into his eyes, overlaid over Akechi’s living, breathing being like a decaying negative, and god, god, Akira had killed that boy, he’d killed Akechi, and now he was the one dead and Akechi knew about it. He’d shot Akechi Goro in the head. If put in the same situation, he would do it again. (Would he? He would. Would he?)
Akira never planned on telling Akechi the truth behind his survival of Shido's palace. And he hadn't had to—not until the night of February 2nd.

Summary
Moodily, Zoro flicks a piece of lint across the cashier counter he’s stuck manning for the next few hours. So far, the shifts Mihawk assigns him are always non-rush hour, presumably to give Zoro the space to learn the ropes without fucking anything up. But this means that Zoro never has anything to do. He flicks the lint again.
A pair of scissors jams down just slightly left to where his finger used to be.
‘Will you stop that,’ Perona snaps. ‘I could feel your sulking from the other side of the store!’
‘Jesus Christ, woman,’ Zoro yells, staring at where the pair of scissors are stuck upright into the wood of the counter. ‘What the hell are you trying to do, cut my finger off?’
Zoro is—to put it delicately—bad at customer service.

Summary
‘I’m talking about the other convenience store.’
‘This mall only has the one convenience store.’
‘Are you going to give me directions or not?’ He snaps.
Perona sighs with all the beleaguered world-weariness of the truly put-upon.
‘Oh, if I must,’ she says.
She gives the directions, the boy thanks her (the same way a man might thank a barracuda, which is honestly so very rude of him), and that should’ve been the end of it, except she’s just watched the stupid green lug walk past the store she’s working in eight times in the last half hour now, and she doesn’t think she can stand it much more. The first four times were funny, but now? Jesus.
Zoro gets a minimum wage job. He also meets Perona. Jury’s still out on which one’s going to be worse.

Summary
This far from the lights and sounds of the party the only thing Hancock can hear is the crashing of the waves, close to their feet—and the calming sound of Luffy, snoring loudly and contently, his chest rising and receding with each breath, just slightly out of sync with the sea. There’s just a little light, reflecting from the moon over the silvery dark waters, to see by, but enough to see clearly. And maybe it’s the combination of all these factors at once, of both safety and ambiguity, that makes Hancock even deign to consider answering the sniper seriously.
‘You love him,’ she says, staring out to the sea. She has one long leg crossed elegantly over the other, is reclining back with one arm draped over a knee, ‘and thus, I will compete with you for his affections.’
The sniper frowns. ‘When I said I loved him, I meant that as a friend, or a crew-member does. Like—a brother?’
For the first time in her life, Hancock confronts what it all really means—to love, and be loved, with her beauty.

Summary
The man who just entered moves, slowly and purposefully, as though demanding everybody’s attention be on him, until he stops right in the middle of the restaurant, in front of where Zeff is.
Zeff eyes him over his food. ‘To what do I owe this visit,’ Zeff says mildly, ‘Vinsmoke Judge?’
Across from him, the militant monarch of the Germa Kingdom takes a seat.
Judge thinks that Sanji is a failure of a son. Zeff doesn't think that much of Judge at all.

Summary
Glenn Fraldarius is anyone's dream kid. He's wrapping up his fourth semester of law school with a four point oh and scholastic honors. He's got a summer associate position lined up at a prestigious firm that will open doors—not to mention clerkships—when it's time for the job hunt. He doesn't have an arrest record, or an expensive cocaine habit. He's a loving brother and a responsible son.
"No offense," he says, "but you're out of your fucking mind."
--
Glenn agrees to watch the house for the summer. It doesn't go quite how he expects.

Summary
Sylvain's father always says that no one celebrates Solsticetide like Gautier. It was bad enough when Sylvain was growing up: Goddess forbid the margrave's heir fail to buy into the festivities. It's grotesque now. Two years ago the people of Faerghus were boiling mouldered barley and toasting rats over the coals for their Solstice night feasts, and that was if they were lucky. To pretend that five years of civil war haven't ravaged people and land alike, that the old hearty customs can go on just as they have for centuries, it turns Sylvain's stomach—
Felix interrupts him. "Then come to Fraldarius."
* * *
Sylvain visits Fraldarius to help the new Duke preside over the winter holidays. It's a lot more complicated than he thinks.

Summary
Sanji didn't wonder why he gave himself the challenge. It didn't matter why. ‘Why’ was probably covered by one-upping the bloody swordsman, and maybe there were other reasons - stranger reasons - but that was the only one that really counted, right? It was decided. He was going to get Zoro to appreciate - no, love Sanji's food. If Sanji couldn't do it, then he wasn't a true sea-cook after all.
