See, the thing is, Sunghoon's always kept those he loves close and tight. Which was probably why, that day of Riki's fourth rut and the last they'd spent together, he'd held the towel for longer than necessary when Riki grabbed it. Held his gaze, too, as Riki thanked him using his name.
Always. It was that simple, and that complicated.
It goes something like this: Sunghoon meets his first love at a recreational center ice rink, his second love when he moves into his best friends' house, and his third love? Well, it starts with a post office and a key ring.

"You smell weird," Riki says, looking back down at the counter, completely forgetting proper greetings. Forgetting everything, really. Because even though the scent is so skewed, it's making Riki forget where to put his fingers as he cuts more melon away from the rind.
"Hello, to you, too." At least Heeseung has some humor in his voice. Maybe this conversation won't be so fucked.

His body is a mostly normal human body now. Permanent. His legs have lost their purple translucency. They’ve become a tan, yellowish, pinkish color. Darker than Sunghoon’s. He can't see as clearly as he could before the procedures, but it's good to know he can still separate the colors. Maybe, during one of his painting modules, he can try transposing the lucky way Sunghoon's face turns pink every time he talks to him.

And Jay says it again, and then again when he finally rolls out of his bed and onto Jake's, against Jake himself, body smelling of soap and hair products pressing his covers over him with heavy, tempting pressure, and finally Jake understands that what Jay's saying is he's afraid of the bugs and the ghosts, that he's ashamed.
He prods at Jay's back as effective as he can with pinned hands. "Get in."
Jake gets hit by a bus at a ski resort and suddenly it's snowing baking soda and Jay's acting, like, way different.

Summary
You may be wondering: why does Jake need all this gear? And what the flippity-flop is a hamster ship?
To explain, you need to be at the beginning, with Lee Heeseung. They took him in, as good friends do, after his house burned down on Christmas during what's suspected to have been a Santa visit gone wrong, and he's been living with them ever since. Jake likes to think they've all become a family.
But imagine this: one day, you wake up, and there's no Heeseung in sight. In his place is a hamster (or Hamseung, as Jake has taken to calling him). That was approximately two weeks ago.
Today Jake woke up and there was no Heeseung nor Hamseung in sight. Which called for a quest, obviously.

"Dude?" Jake gestured at Sunghoon's delicacy. "The fuck?"
Sunghoon coughed on the fork he'd been twiddling while waiting for their order. "Oh shit, I forgot you're not from here."
Between the hats with eyes, the cursed marketplace, and Sunghoon’s ultra mega rare steak, something about this town was decidedly NOT a normal place to be stranded. Jake had a right to be suspicious. And he had a right to wish he hadn't missed his train.

"We should get rings," Sunoo says, and Jungwon nearly drops his fresh-off-the-press Power Rangers analysis for his professor that doesn't hide her fixation very well. Luckily, he doesn't. That would make a mess, of course, and it would get Jungwon thinking about the times he's had to replace Sunoo's skincare and vitamin bottles from similar occasions. Those usually involve an open toilet and precarious positioning, though, not misconstrued statements meant for best friends.
Best friends. That's what Sunoo and Jungwon have always been and fuck if Jungwon doesn't know it.

Jaeyun's nice and all, with the pre-show and post-show and roommate routines he and Jay have developed over the years, their secret talks and not-so-secret ones, their bouncing-off-each-other-don't-touch-me schtick.
