A figure stands before him.
Carlo flinches, startling at the sight. He instinctively takes a step back, feet slipping over scattered cards. He fumbles on the floor for only a moment before scrambling to his feet, upright once more, eyes racing to find whatever lay in the darkened corner.
Before him a figure dark and looming stands, its eyes a piercing lance, its face a mirrored reflection of Carlo’s own.
Carlo stares up at the figure. The puppet called P stares back.

And yet, because God is dead and life is cruel, he still feels like shit all the time. After a fateful meeting involving mace and music, his life might just turn around for the better. Until that meathead boy, son of that skinhead senator, butts in. Christine Daae is out of money, out of parents, and out of hope. It's hard to pay for college and medical debts that were never yours when you work at a Waffle House. When she runs into her creepy neighbor at a bar, she discovers a chance to earn money using the best gift her parents gave her: her voice.
