Kakashi didn't want that for Naruto; didn't want his mistakes and concessions to affect what Naruto was able to do. Even Tsunade, upon giving Kakashi the hat, had left immediately on a tour to various gambling dens. And while it made the transition easier, it'd left Kakashi feeling overwhelmed and alone. He didn't want that for Naruto either; he’s promised to always support him.
"Once I'm instated as Hokage–" Naruto insisted.
"–they still don't necessarily have to listen to you. We have history to prove it." Kakashi asked, heavily, "are you asking me to leave Konoha then?"
"No! But it really made a difference when Baa-chan left for you?"
Kakashi breathed out heavily. "It did. I was close enough to Minato-sensei to see how the transition worked for him. Trust me, Naruto, you have to do this."
"Kakashi-sensei..."

Still, Childe’s a big believer in not half-assing anything, so he looks Zhongli right back in the eye and says, “yeah. How did you know you were gay?”
