Summary
10 years have passed since Kagome and InuYasha were separated after Naraku's defeat, and she has done her best to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart. At 25 years old, she's happy with the life she's built piece by agonizing piece. She has a wonderful circle of friends, she's a student teacher at a dojo that helped her find new meaning, and she's pursuing a career that will help others. These newfound passions helped heal her invisible wounds, but can she ever truly move on from her first love? After a reunion 500 years in the making, Kagome must decide if she's ready to accept her second chance with InuYasha, and surrender to the strings of fate that seem determined to bind them. But when a new foe emerges hellbent on stopping a prophecy from reaching fulfillment, will they get the happiness they've craved for so long?

Summary
The well is closed, Kagome is gone, and InuYasha struggles for control from his demon as he copes with her loss. On the verge of losing himself completely, he is helped by a very unlikely source.
This is technically a flashback oneshot adjacent to my story, Sword Play, but can be read independently too. I've been meaning to write this particular story for a while but was inspired to finally draft it for InuKag Week 2025 and the prompt Blood.
