Nagi shakes his head. "Not really."
"What do you do for fun, then?" Reo asks incredulously.
"Nothing much."
Maybe it's the light that beats against Reo's back that makes him look so regal and majestic in this moment. Maybe it's a tiny, hopeful speck of childish idealism that leads Nagi's breathing to quicken at Reo's words. Whatever it is, when Reo straightens up and says, "I'm going to make this a summer you'll never forget," Nagi's heart flutters and flutters and refuses to stop, and he finds himself believing it.

It's cold. Nagi feels the ocean water drip through his shirt. The space between Reo's palm and his shoulder is wet. There are two bright eyes locked right onto his own. He's never felt more alive. "I'm not," he says.
such beautiful and vivid descriptions of daily life that make you grasp the value in everything. reo's optimism and nagi's stubborn view of monotonous life---the juxtaposition is so peak. the story itself is written so beautifully and it captures the feeling of summer heat, repetition, and nothingness all at once. SO well done.

It's a standard question, really; the host asks Nagi if he has a lover, and like the young, inexperienced football star that he is, Nagi blushes and shakes his head and stammers something naive; something romantic about an old crush, about lingering feelings from a long time ago. He does not mention a name, and he does not say Reo Mikage, but the whole world seems to think he did.
