Stiles is on his way to Scott’s house about two weeks after all the shit went down on the Nemeton when he’s cornered by Agent McCall yet again. This time though, instead of not-so-subtly trying to get the dirt on Scott, he opens up with “Is your father drinking again?”
Stiles can only blink at him, caught off-guard. “What do you mean, again?’ he asks. “He never had to stop.”
“But he did have to slow down,” Agent McCall says. He looks like he’s attempting to pull off Scott’s trademark puppy dog eyes, and failing miserably. “Is he drinking like he used to?”

All Dennis wants is a smoke.
He knows—knows!—he isn't supposed to. He's been fighting the urge for the last three weeks, his single battered pack that's kept him company since Nebraska, slowly dwindling away. Soon, he knows, he'll have nothing but the ashen remains of it all, and he doesn't think he's ready for that just yet.

When Dennis shows up outside Robby and Jack’s house the next night, it’s against his will. Never mind that it had been his feet that had carried him here, that it had been he who had made up his mind and started the short journey to their neighborhood. His body appears to have betrayed him. Jack isn’t working tonight, has the next two nights off, actually, so Dennis knows they’ll both be here. Robby had left the hospital before Dennis had. There’s really no hope of backing out of this.
