It didn’t have to be so heavy; they didn’t have to burden it with the weight of all that emotion. Wouldn’t the whole point of this be the fun, the escape, the thrill? And wasn’t part of the thrill last time in the fact that they were doing it right under the yacht club’s upturned noses? Karen had no problem keeping her lips sealed when it counted, and she had no problem adapting to something that she knew would make both of them happy in the end.
There were worse things in the world to be than Grace Adler’s dirty little secret.
Grace had only wanted to pull Karen out of a rare bout of self-doubt; Karen had only wanted to feel desired. Neither one of them expected to spark a physical affair with each other. But it was the perfect arrangement: no strings, no guilt, none of their friends suspecting a thing. They simply kept each other company until a shot at the real thing came along. But as boyfriends and husbands came and went while they stayed in each other's corner, it became glaringly obvious that the real thing might have been right in front of them all along.
If only it wasn't against the rules.

Grace inched closer to Karen until there was no space left between them, kissing Karen back when she pulled away like she was gauging whether she just made a massive mistake. She felt Karen’s arms snake around her, and it was the first time she ever felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be. She couldn’t believe this was real. She couldn’t believe that Karen felt the same way.
It may not have been Grace’s first kiss. But it was the first one that counted.
In the middle of her Sophomore year of high school, a mysterious new girl walks into Grace's life and completely takes over her mind. Fifteen years later, Karen Walker crashes into her life, and the cycle starts all over again.
