Summary
At nine years old, Jayce knew his true love was his brilliant and kind babysitter, Viktor. However, when he confessed his feelings, he was handled a brutal rejection.
Viktor, just wanting the little boy to stop crying, made him a promise: 'ask me again in ten years.'
Fifteen years later, Viktor visits his family for the summer after a long time apart, barely remembers the kid, let alone the promise he had made. Unaware that the mysterious guest his sister brought along was no other than Jayce himself.
Jayce, who never forgot, and spent all this time molding himself into Viktor's ideal man, observing and studying him from afar.

Summary
Viktor doesn't mean to come out to his babysitter. He didn't even intend to speak to him, really. He's spent the whole night ignoring him, sore from the blow of losing his plans for a much needed night home alone. Closeted and tired, all Viktor wanted was a momentary reprieve from those who see him only as a girl. He's even willing to overlook the fact that the babysitter, a Piltover college guy with a glint in his eye, is stunningly handsome. All he wants to do now is sulk on his bed.
But Viktor can't ignore Jayce when he slips into his bedroom, when he closes the distance between them with something sinister simmering in his gaze. In the throes of his panic, Viktor unwittingly cries out his truth for the first time in his life. He's certain he's made things worse for himself, is utterly astounded by Jayce's easy acceptance, by the way his interest in him seems only to deepen. He's undone by the sea of affirmations in which Jayce steadily drowns him, the night taking its shocking course all the while. It doesn't save him, but it becomes Viktor's only solace.
If his life must be altered, and if he must endure this, then at least he can go through it as a boy.

“Uh, in a moment. I’ve almost got this one figured out.” He needs to prove to Viktor that he’s still in it, still shares their dream. He was Viktor’s partner first, before he was Piltover’s progress. He was Viktor’s first. God, focus! He looks at what he just wrote, decides it’s indecipherable, and erases it to start at the most recent step.
Jayce hears the approaching click of Viktor’s cane, and a cold bottle of water gets tapped against his arm. “Drink,” Viktor orders. Jayce takes the bottle without thinking. He takes a couple sips, and moves to set it somewhere— “All of it.”
Jayce makes a face at him, but obliges. “Happy now?”
“Yes. Good.” Jayce ignores the way the second word makes him feel. A smile tugs at Viktor’s pale lips. “You have been… busy all day. You probably have not had a lot of time to hydrate.”
The protest that he actually drank rather a lot at the gala dies in his throat as he recognizes that Viktor’s still thinking of Jayce’s wellbeing, upset as he might be that Jayce has been spending less and less time in the lab as of late. Still taking care of him.

Viktor has not yet rained cruelty on him as as Jayce anticipated he would, so he takes the chance to savor as much of Viktor's attention as he can before it sours. "You put our lab six weeks behind schedule because you are overwhelmingly attracted to—" he glances down, deadpan, and Jayce's dick twitches."—My vagina."
Viktor has always managed to make the big picture seem rather simple.
