Nerevarine/Last Dragonborn
There's another person on that cart to Helgen, one who's done this song and dance before, and he's had enough of innocent people dying. Taking the Dragonborn under his wing, he vows to keep her alive, and when she discovers her nature, to teach her how to make it through the challenges of being the universe-designated cleanup person. He expects to move on when this is over and return to his wanderings and trying to forget his past. He does not expect to get attached.
Neloth is going to be an absolute bastard about this.
