    When a stranger takes the seat next to him, he doesn’t even look up to glance at the person. Out of the corner of his eye, he notices short but perfectly-manicured black nails, carefully painted with red at the very tips, but he continues his one-sided staring contest with the bottle of grenadine.

    That is, until the person beside him waves the bartender over and he hears a quiet, syrupy voice order a drink.

    “Tequila sunrise, please,” the person says. The individual’s voice isn’t syrupy in that it’s sickly sweet, not like some of the other people he has the misfortune of dealing with, but instead that it’s dark, thick and incredibly hard to escape from once he’s heard it. In one little phrase, Chuuya has been hooked.
