Casey leaves to see the world, and while he's out there, he realizes Leo was concerningly adamant about making sure CJ got to do it. Adamant in the way he only is when he's giving CJ something he didn't have.
And when Leo was still 14, post portals and pre leader responsibilities, he teleported all over the world; a surprise to Leo's brothers, who thought he just ran around NYC when he told them he'd often left the Lair when they weren't looking after Everything.
CJ had to get his wanderlust from someone, after all.
Wanderlust Leo hadn't sated in a long, long time.
Casey, accordingly, starts Planning.

“How old is he?”
Leonardo pauses his stirring. He half-expected a joke—an innocent little jab meant to lessen the tension thickly clouding the kitchen—yet Leo’s voice is quiet, serious.
So Leonardo turns around and offers the same air of calmness that the teen approached him with. Yet his chest constricts when he has to angle his head down low to meet Leo’s eyes, and an overwhelming sadness withers his heart as he takes in that young, bright-eyed face. Leo is a child, a baby.
And he’s going to cause the end of the world.
Or, Casey Jones goes through the time portal, but he’s a baby in Leonardo’s arms. And one traumatized turtle juggles being a new dad while trying to prevent a horrible future.
