    Summary

These heroes, these martyrs. These are Stephen’s ghosts, his failures. These are the people who were burned in the fire, who drowned in the floods. These were the people who banded together in future after future, who loved so fiercely and lost so much, who even now look at him with eyes reflecting hidden fears and shoulders stooped under the weight of haunted pasts and too many mistakes.

These are Stephen’s ghosts, and they are living and breathing and real, and still he looks at them and feels like this is just another future where they don’t make it, where Strange fails them, where he fails them all.

These are his miracle hands. These are his shaking fingers. These are his living ghosts.

Stephen watches them, just as he always had.

He hopes, this time, it doesn’t end in failure.

    Summary

It wouldn't be the first time the inevitability of things hurt someone Sherlock cared about.

It wouldn't be the last time he wasn't able to stop it - to predict what would happen, let his mind piece together a crime scene before it turned more deadly than it already was.

If not every time, if only this one instance - he, at least, should have been able to stop Watson from opening that door.

    Summary

“Why are you giving our tour?” John asks, tilting his head as he looks over at Sherlock. He can’t help the small grin at Sherlock’s immediate eye roll and huff of exasperation.

“It was entirely Victor’s idea,” he complains in earnest, tucking one leg up to his chest. “He loves kids, wants about fifty. ‘Oh, Sherlock! We never get to give tours! Won’t this just be so fun? I couldn’t possibly do it alone, you have to join me!’ Fully begged me for about a week straight until I gave in just to get him to leave me alone so I could actually get work done.”
