Summary
The body was a landscape of pain on a good day, but it ached differently sometimes, in a way that had nothing to do with chronic pain or the feeling of an electrical current inside the muscles. It ached for something as if it was endowed with feelings and wishes, as if it could long for anything. It was mostly — besides the arm — a human body, as Barnes knew — was it natural for it to feel?
