Summary
Whenever Annie closes her eyes she is greeted by images of blood and violence - a past that stalks her like a predator, just out of sight but never far behind her. Every night she’s reminded of how it feels to destroy civilizations beneath her feet, crushing women and children in her hands, a lifetime of sin she will never be able to atone for. Although, from what she can tell, she’s not the only one unable to sleep.
OR, Annie joins the cadet corps in order to fulfil her mission but is sidetracked by a confusingly annoying grey-eyed girl who is always at the front of her mind for some reason.

Seven years.
It's been seven years since self-assured teenager Luz Noceda was transported to the Boiling Isles through the malfunctioning portal of an otherworldly Emperor. For seven years, she experienced and learned the wonders of magic and all that it meant. For seven years she's witnessed the pain and suffering caused by Belos. For seven years, she's longed to see her mother again.
Now Belos is dead, his empire in shambles long before as a bloody civil war has erupted between him and the rest of the Isles, drenching the land in a sea of blood and bile. And now, Luz must reign this conflict in. But doing so won't be easy, not when she's wrapped in a plot of puppet strings. Most will see her as nothing more than another tyrant to be eliminated...but some will begin to realize the true nature of the burgeoning monarch. And all the while, those from beyond the sea begin itching at the chance to seize her throne...
Anyone else would break under such pressure...
But not Luz Noceda.
