Luo Binghe hums, pleased, and Shen Qingqiu can feel the shape of his smile pressed into his temple.
“You don’t have to follow quickly,” Luo Binghe says, quiet and reassuring. “You can still be following at your own pace.”

When the thick black fog of the curse clears, there’s a child standing in front of Xie Lian. He’s small—he’s so, so small—and as soon as he sees Xie Lian, he wraps his arms around himself and hunches his shoulders like he’s trying to make himself even smaller. There is not a single spark of recognition in that wide, wild eye.

When a curse turns Hua Cheng into a child again, it's up to Xie Lian to take care of him. It's a task easier said than done, when Hua Cheng's memories have regressed along with the rest of him.

“Thank you,” Hua Cheng mumbles.
Xie Lian thinks, briefly, of the first time he saw a kitten: small and soft and fuzzy beyond belief. He’d been overwhelmed with the urge to squeeze it, although his mother had warned him to be gentle and so he had been. He feels that same urge now: Hua Cheng is too cute and he has to squish something about it. He squishes himself, as best he can, hugging his arms to his chest and squeezing.
“You’re welcome,” he says, trying to sound calm and not absolutely floored by how sweet this baby is.

The inn-keep thankfully didn’t seem too bothered by the three armour-clad men that had wandered into her business, nor by the slew of similarly armed boys milling about the entrance.
She did, however – bless her soul – delicately mention that the town had a robust public bathhouse as she slid over the discounted keys for three rooms.

Summary
The System's OOC function won't unlock all at once - instead, character traits have to be added individually, through quests.
This leads to Shen Qingqiu having to jump through endless hoops just to complete enough side quests to unlock the ability to be a decent person - all while avoiding the effects it has on those around him.
If only the cheapskate System wouldn't keep changing the cost of point values - he needs to know what the hell Yue Qingyuan told the others about him that makes them all look so sad when he does manage to be nice! He's breaking his back here, can't we just appreciate his work?!
