Summary
Former vicar Aziraphale has one simple job - take over his grandmother Agnes's bed and breakfast, keep the keys organized, the rooms clean, the guests happy, and his cousins Anathema and Muriel in line. It's something he falls into easily, and provides him a sense of solitude from his otherwise overbearing family.
He's even willing to overlook the fact that each fall and winter, he's visited by a stranger who always seems to bring the first frost to the South Downs. It's a fine arrangement, as long as Aziraphale is a good host to this fae. Over the years, and several fleeting days with this mysterious but charming man-shaped being called Crowley, he even starts to development feelings.
However, when his family calls him back to the city to rejoin the clergy and fulfill his duty, he must make a choice…

“I’m well aware of what it does,” Crowley interrupted. Aziraphale glanced up from the book and took in Crowley’s stance, the apparent lax posture belied by the way he was clutching the edge of the countertop with white knuckles. Aziraphale swallowed.
“Is it…” Aziraphale faltered, then tried again. “Is it…” painful is how he told himself he wanted to finish the question. There was no other possible word to end that question that Aziraphale wanted to know.
“Don’t play dumb, angel. It doesn’t suit you.” Crowley’s voice was low, an edge of something to it that Aziraphale hadn’t heard since the Tadfield airbase, the moment Crowley was ready to give up and accept the apocalypse. He met Aziraphale’s eyes. “You know who I want.”

The excitement of spending a day traveling with Crowley had turned to deep embarrassment. Rather than a flight followed by a late dinner somewhere and then a night apart, Aziraphale was cold, wet, hungry, and injured, in the wrong city, and facing a night sharing a room with his secret crush in which there was only one bed. And— Aziraphale looked down at what he was holding. Flannel pajamas, tartan ones. He was going to have to go back out there and face the ever-elegant Crowley in his night clothes.
Written for the Winter Wonderland Zine
I'd never written a "There was only one bed" fic and I had so much fun with this. I hope you all enjoy it!
