He opens his weary eyes, zeroing in on the face before him. Grey hair, gold eyes, eyebrows drawn together. It's Stelle. She's alive.
She brings a hand to the back of her head, a sheepish expression on her face. She stutters before replying, "For.. For not keeping you safe"
It hit him where it hurt most, he couldn't keep her safe either.. He was delusional enough to accept this reality that his mind constructed to spare himself the pain and guilt that were drowning him.
He was willing to go through with this reality, not caring what happened to his body in the real world.
