Summary
Peter worried at his lip, the hologram blue glowing all around them. “What if I mess up?”
“You’re not going to,” Tony replied, eyes on the screens again. “We drifted fine the other day. We had a great Neural Handshake and we train together daily. We’ve got this."
Peter hesitated. “We have?”
“Yes, Parker. We have.” Tony stepped back from his screen and looked over to Peter. He looked so young behind his visor, and he’s a kid he’s a kid he’s a kid ran through his mind unbidden. “We’re a team, okay? I’ve got your back and you’ve got mine."
When aliens came to Earth, they came out of the ocean, not the skies. To combat them, humans created jaegers: monstrous robots so massive they needed two pilots to control them. Ten years into the war, Rhodey is knocked out of commission, and the Iron Avenger jaeger is in need of a new pilot. Tony isn't particularly happy about Peter Parker, a sixteen year old, joining the fight by his side, but sometimes you aren't given a choice in these things.
