Chapter Text
Taehyung can’t breathe, or more so, feels like he can’t breathe. His heart pounds in his chest like galloping horses against a racetrack, his thoughts unfocused as he tries to give his full attention to preparing for class.
Students begin to trickle into the classroom a few minutes before the start of lecture, and every time the door squeaks open Taehyung’s eyes snap up at the sound, secretly hoping that Jungkook walks in. And every time, Taehyung is left bitterly disappointed.
It’s only been a grand total of two days, but two days without hearing anything from Jungkook feels like a lifetime to Taehyung. He misses the alpha so much, had texted and called a million times just to never get a response. In the past Taehyung wouldn’t have classified himself as the clingy type, but now? God… it’s almost painful not seeing the other.
A minute before class is supposed to start, Taehyung stands from his desk to face the class, a beautiful fake smile on his face and notes in hand as he announces the topic for the day.
He tries his best to ignore the vacant seat up front, already trying to make himself accept the fact he wouldn’t be seeing Jungkook today.
Until the scent hits him, the overwhelmingly strong, musky scent of the alpha that has Taehyung stopping his introduction mid sentence.
He lifts his eyes to see Jungkook practically dragging his feet to make his way towards the front, but the alpha is different today. His head isn’t held high like it normally is, his body isn’t standing up straight and his face is almost completely covered by a big, dark hoodie hanging off of his frame.
It barely looks like Jungkook… but Taehyung wouldn’t mistake his scent for anything. His chest aches as he watches the defeated looking alpha plop down in his usual seat before taking out his notes, not even bothering to look up to see whatever artwork was being introduced today.
Taehyung takes a deep breath, telling himself to be grateful Jungkook even showed up, but somehow, he thinks this would be easier if he hadn’t seen the younger at all.
“So as we approach our final exam I’ll start reviewing previous covered material to hopefully refresh your memories--” Taehyung starts, going into full teacher mode as he does his best to actually provide some quality of learning.
The next hour and a half goes by in a flash, probably because Taehyung is so distracted, so hell bent on talking as much as possible to prevent his mind from drifting somewhere else. But soon enough he’s dismissing the class and the sick feeling in his gut is back full force when he lets his gaze settle on the alpha sitting up front, sluggishly packing up his things while his eyes look at nothing in particular.
You can do it you can do it-- Taehyung mentally pep talks himself before slowly walking up to the younger, almost like he’s afraid if he moves too quickly he’ll scare Jungkook away.
“Jungkook--” Taehyung breathes out, his voice coming out in a quiet whisper. The omega scans the room, watching as the remaining bit of the students finally leave the lecture hall.
“Please say something,” Taehyung pleads after a few silent moments, watching with wide eyes as the alpha continues to pack up his stuff like he heard nothing.
“I have to go,” Jungkook grunts out as he moves to stand, purposefully looking anywhere but at Taehyung.
A familiar burn settles at the back of Taehyung’s throat, his eyes beginning to water with the telltale signs of tears. “Guk--” comes Taehyung’s shaky voice in one last desperate attempt to get the alpha to talk to him. Taehyung raises an arm to catch the back of Jungkook’s hoodie, his grip loose but firm as he gently tugs on the material.
Jungkook stops in his tracks, his back turned to the omega as a shaky exhale passes his lips.
Taehyung takes the opportunity to say something, anything to try and fix the damage. “I didn’t mean a word of it. I just panicked ‘cause I thought Hoseok knew,” Taehyung rushes out, knowing the lame excuse isn’t good enough. He would be devastated too if he heard Jungkook say such terrible things about him.
Another phrase gets caught in his throat, the words so desperately trying to escape as Taehyung stammers for what to say. He wants to say them, wants to let the younger know how much he didn’t mean what he said, but now isn’t the time. He didn’t want to tell Jungkook this way.
So he swallows the three little words down, instead fixing his gaze on Jungkook’s shoulder blades, watching the alpha take shallow breaths and praying he actually says something.
“I know, Taehyung,” Jungkook’s low voice cuts through the tension like a knife, making a tremble run through Taehyung’s body. “But you’re right--” Jungkook turns to face Taehyung, their eyes meeting for the first time in days, and Taehyung can tell Jungkook has been crying.
“--but you were right anyway. I’m not worth risking your career over, so maybe we should just--”
“Don’t even think about finishing that sentence,” Taehyung interjects, fear now taking the place of sadness. He doesn’t want to lose Jungkook, he refuses to let something like this ruin what they have.
Jungkook’s eyes soften as he looks at the omega, struck by the other’s pure beauty despite how sad he looks. Jungkook’s instincts scream at him to comfort the distressed omega, noticing how his scent is getting more and more sour with anxiety. Nothing would make him happier than to pull the omega close and tell him how much he cares for him. Or maybe… how much he loves him.
But Jungkook resists the urge, his fists clenching at his sides as he forces himself to speak. “I just don’t want to mess anything up…”
A sad smile settles across Taehyung’s features, “Jungkook, I--”
“I have to go,” Jungkook cuts Taehyung off before the omega can speak, turning to walk out of the room before Taehyung convinces him to stay. He isn’t ready for this conversation, to be so vulnerable with the other after his thoughts being a mess the last few days. Jungkook feels so conflicted, he supposes he always has about the other considering their position. He doesn’t know if he’s afraid of his own feelings, or ruining Taehyung’s career, or hurting him?
But Jungkook does know he wasn’t going to drag Taehyung down. Not if he can help it.
The alpha makes his way towards the door, doing his best to ignore the sad calls of his name from Taehyung.
He stamps down the need to go and comfort the other, to bury his face in Taehyung’s neck and hold him until their hearts match in pace.
Jungkook bursts out of the building, tears stinging in the corner of his eyes as he makes his way across campus as quickly as possible.
As he climbs into his car, throwing his bag off to the side, Jungkook can feel the tightness in his chest and lets the tears fall from his eyes, and somehow, he knows Taehyung is doing the exact same thing.
Jungkook is stretching for probably the hundredth time that night, twisting his body at odd angles over and over again to try and distract himself from the nerves. He never felt nervous before his dances, had never been so tense and restless before a performance, but of course he is tonight.
Maybe it’s because he knew a certain someone was going to be watching him, or maybe he wasn’t even the dance that was making him nervous, just the thought of seeing Taehyung again.
They still hadn’t spoken much after Jungkook had walked out in the middle of their conversation, which he’s regretted every day since. The regret only got worse when Taehyung tried several times to reach out to him only for Jungkook to not know what to say and end up never responding. He didn’t know what was wrong with him. He wants Taehyung, in fact, he loves him. And that’s exactly why Jungkook was keeping his distance, at least for another few days until the semester is finally over and Taehyung is in less danger of getting caught.
“Guk, you ready?” Jimin interrupts his thoughts, a bright but oddly gentle smiling painting the other’s soft features. Jimin had been nicer to him than usual lately, more gentle and comforting every time they hung out. Jungkook doesn’t know if it’s just the omega in him or if Jimin actually knows something, but the two never brought it up, both of them content to let Jungkook figure it out himself.
Jungkook nods over at his best friend, a small smile pulling at the corners of his lips, “I guess so.”
When they walk out onto the stage, Jungkook instinctively searches for Taehyung’s face in the crowd, but the bright lights, overwhelming scents of hundreds of wolves mingling together, and the loud cheers fog his senses. So he gives up, letting every thought and worry leave his body as the first notes of the music start, and he dances.
Taehyung has never seen anything as beautiful as what he was watching now. His eyes are wide and unblinking as he follows the dancers across the stage, his gaze never leaving one person in particular.
Taehyung’s heart catches in his throat when Jungkook’s gaze sweeps over the audience, momentarily stopping to look directly at him. Taehyung likes to think the alpha did that on purpose, but he knows it’s probably impossible to actually see anything on the stage. Still, his breath comes out a little shallower for a moment as he watches the younger perfectly execute the choreography.
The whole show goes like that, Taehyung in awe of every performance, but secretly wishing the other dances would just end so he could see Jungkook’s solo. It isn’t long before he gets his wish, the sharp gasp from Jin sitting next to him bringing his attention to the stage once again.
Jungkook stands in the middle, a single spotlight shining on him as his long black hair falls beautifully in front of his eyes. Taehyung practically feels hypnotized by the sight, like he couldn’t look away even if he wanted to.
The first notes of a soft, instrumental song begin, something very different from what Taehyung had expected from the alpha. The dance isn’t his usual style either. Instead of the alpha’s typical sharp and quick movements, the dance is intense but soft, his turns flowing effortlessly into the next step that reminds Taehyung of art more than dance.
Every move of the alpha is so expressive, his body conveying a plethora of emotion that was so different from what Taehyung had seen before as his body moves with the sound of stringed instruments.
To say Taehyung is captivated is an understatement. As the dance winds down, the last notes fading as Jungkook’s body calms, Taehyung can feel tears pricking at the corners of his eyes.
He turns his face to quickly wipe them away before Jin can see, before looking up at the bowing figure of Jungkook, a huge smile lighting up his handsome features. Taehyung wants to stand and shout, applaud like a madman over the amazing performance. It feels like the affection he has for the other is going to explode out of him any moment, but he holds it in like he was used to doing, settling for a gentle clap as he smiles over Jin and Namjoon who are hollering as the alpha exits the stage.
The show is practically over after that. The audience claps once more as all of the dancers file onto the stage, glowing smiles decorating the faces of nearly everyone before the lights turn on and everyone begins to leave.
Taehyung wants nothing more than to stay, to find Jungkook and hug him as he tells him how perfect he was. But he was forcing himself to give the younger space, he knew suffocating the alpha wouldn’t help matters at all. So he mutters out goodbyes to Jin and Namjoon, making up some random excuse to leave when they invite him to have dinner with them and Jungkook.
“You really should come with us!” Jin insists over the noise of people talking, “I’m sure Gukkie would actually enjoy having you along.”
Taehyung tries to smile, but it probably comes out more like a grimace. If only they knew.
“No it’s okay,” Taehyung reassures the couple. “ I have some last minute work to do anyway.”
Jin arches an eyebrow at the omega, the look a little too knowing for Taehyung’s liking.
“Well, call me if you change your mind!”
Taehyung nods, bidding the couple a goodbye before making his way out of the performance building.
The night is freezing, the early December air nipping at his skin as he pulls his scarf snug around his neck, sticking his hands into the pockets of his puffy jacket. The idea of walking home had sounded nice when left, but now he just wishes he was sitting in the heated seats of his car.
The streets are dark and wet, the wind from cars driving by cold enough to be felt through the layers of his clothes. Taehyung is shivering several minutes into the walk, and of course, it starts to snow before he’s even halfway home.
Great.
He loves snow and all, but not at night when he’s walking alone in the freezing cold. I’m such a fucking idiot , he thinks to himself as he pulls his jacket tighter around him.
Taehyung distracts himself with really anything as he treks through the piling up snow, telling himself only a few more minutes until he’ll be safely at home in his warm bed. That is, until he hears the sound of steps behind him, another set of feet making their way through the snow.
“Where are you going, beautiful?” The unfamiliar sound of an alpha’s voice breaks through the air, making a shiver run through Taehyung that has nothing to do with the cold.
He ignores the catcall with a roll of his eyes, continuing on and hoping the guy takes a hint.
But when he glances behind him, he notices the other still walking behind him, far enough away to not spook the omega but still too close all the same. He just wants to be left alone.
No, he doesn’t want to be alone. I wish Jungkook was here.
Jungkook doesn’t think he’s ever ran faster in his life.
He had practically burst out of the building when Jin had told him Taehyung left, making up some random excuse that he knows the other didn’t buy at all, but that didn’t matter when he found out Taehyung was walking home alone.
Jungkook had already planned on talking to the omega, to finally straighten out things between them. He had decided during his solo, when his eyes caught sight of Taehyung sitting in the audience, looking up at him like he was the most beautiful thing in the world. Jungkook had almost missed the steps at the rush of emotion he felt for the other in that moment, but he kept going, determined to make it perfect for him .
The alpha had thrown on whatever sweats he had in his bag after the show was over before pushing through the crowd to find Taehyung, only to be met with the news that Taehyung had left alone .
That’s how he finds himself trudging through the light dusting of snow on the streets in nothing but running shoes and some grey sweats, his hair damp from sweat and covered in snowflakes.
Jungkook jogs as fast as he can considering the slippery roads. It takes nearly a mile of running and almost getting hit by a car three times before he spots Taehyung up ahead of him, the omega walking oddly fast.
And then he realizes, it’s because of the guy behind Taehyung.
A growl bubbles up in Jungkook’s throat as he bolts forward, breezing past the stranger before calling Taehyung’s name so as to not scare the other even more.
“Tae!” Jungkook gasps out as he nears the other, close enough to now smell the sour scent of anxiety coming off of the omega.
Taehyung turns, his eyebrows furrowed cutely as blinks against the snowflakes catching on his long eyelashes. “Jungkoo--”
Jungkook wraps the elder in his arms, not giving Taehyung the chance to say anything before he’s nosing underneath his jaw, doing his best to scent the other despite the scarf wrapped around Taehyung’s neck.
The omega immediately relaxes in his hold, throwing his arms over Jungkook’s shoulders before whimpering out his name.
“Gukkie--”
“Shh it’s okay. I’m here,” Jungkook coos, looking up to see the stranger turning to leave.
Fucking asshole.
“Let’s get you home,” Jungkook says before wrapping an arm tightly around Taehyung’s shoulders and walking forward. They weren’t very far from the omega’s apartment now, but still, he hated to think of what could have happened.
Soon enough they’re making their way into Taehyung’s apartment. Taehyung is shaking from the cold and fear he had just experienced, and Jungkook is practically soaked through his sweats, but the alpha barely shows any signs of being cold.
“Come here,” Jungkook pulls the omega closer against him once they’re inside, pulling the damp coat off of Taehyung’s long arms, revealing the elder’s shaking body.
“Fuck it’s cold,” Taehyung gasps out, a dry chuckle falling from his lips when the cold air hits his arms.
Jungkook shakes his head in disbelief as he helps Taehyung get out of his soaked clothes. “Why don’t you take a hot shower or something?”
Taehyung looks up at the alpha at the idea, his eyebrows knitting together, “what about you? I can literally see through that sweatshirt.”
Even at a time like this Taehyung just had to argue, and normally Jungkook would find it endearing, but not right now. Not when the love of his life is standing in front of him with blue lips.
“I’m fine, I’ll just get changed or something.”
A pout settles on Taehyung’s lips as he folds his arms across his quivering torso in an attempt to look firm. Which fails miserably, of course. “No. I’m not showering unless you go with me.”
A sigh escapes Jungkook at how fucking stubborn the other is, but he knew he was fighting a losing battle. So he nods, intertwining their fingers before leading Taehyung to the bedroom, muttering about his “stubborn omega.”
Despite his discomfort, a smile spreads across Taehyung’s face, happy to just have the alpha close after what feels like an eternity.
The way Jungkook so effortlessly takes care of him makes Taehyung feel warmer already. The alpha easily finds his favorite pair of pajama pants in the drawers, knows exactly where he keeps everything, and god, the simple act makes Taehyung’s heart pump a little harder.
“Here.” Jungkook hands Taehyung the small stack of clothes he had collected for them, not even having to think about where everything was kept. This wouldn’t be the first time he’s had to borrow something of Taehyung’s. He had woken up in the omega’s bed late for school more times than he cares to admit.
The two of them practically tiptoe across the hardwood floors, their feet freezing against the cold wood as they make their way into the bathroom.
“Oh my god--” Taehyung squeaks out, biting his lip as the even colder tiles of the bathroom floor make contact with his foot. He thinks he’s about to lose all feeling in his limbs.
A deep chuckle comes from behind him, Jungkook breezing past the omega frozen in place like he’s completely unaffected. Which he isn’t by the way, he just pretends for Taehyung.
Jungkook quickly gets hot water running, and within a minute the two are basking under the heavenly warm streams of water cascading over their chilled skin. Steam quickly fogs the entire bathroom, making the air comfortably warm as Jungkook runs his fingers through Taehyung’s blonde locks, pulling a soft hum from the omega.
Jungkook doesn’t move to do anything else, as much as he wants to lean down and kiss Taehyung until he can’t feel his lips anymore, he doesn’t. The two still have so much to talk about and he didn’t want to get too distracted.
So he settles for gently massaging soap into Taehyung’s light hair and down his body, smiling when the omega lets out little moans here and there from the feeling.
He can’t help but admire Taehyung’s body as his hands move, how the dip of his back meets a tiny waist, Taehyung’s previously pale skin now turning back to it’s normal golden color, if not a little pink from the hot water.
Jungkook just can’t help but stare in awe at how beautiful the other is. It never fails to make his heart race and body thrum with energy.
His body moves without him thinking when he leans down to press a gentle kiss to Taehyung’s shoulder, relishing in the sweet scent that fills his nose from Taehyung and the body wash.
A soft sigh parts Taehyung’s lips at the feeling. He lets his head fall to the side out of habit, giving the alpha complete access to his neck.
And Jungkook is only a weak man. He hums against Taehyung’s honey skin, moving to press another kiss against the column of his neck as he wraps his arms tighter around Taehyung.
The two stand like that for a while, content to let the warm water run over them and feel each other so close. It gets rid of all their previous anxieties, like nothing had even happened between them to begin with.
They stay like that until the heat of the water starts to fade, pulling an annoyed groan from Taehyung.
Jungkook just laughs from behind him, letting the omega go as the water starts to get colder and colder.
“Wait, we have to wash your hair!” Taehyung nearly shouts before he darts for the bottle of shampoo.
Before Jungkook can even respond he’s being assaulted with soapy hands running through his hair at breakneck speed. “Oh my god, Tae!”
Taehyung laughs as Jungkook practically flails at the cool water running over him and his long hair covers his eyes and soap drips down his back. Taehyung thinks that moment Jungkook looks more like a wet cat than an alpha wolf.
And he starts laughing all over again.
Jungkook quickly rinses the insane amount of bubbles off of himself before dragging them both out of the shower, sending a glare at hysterically laughing Taehyung clutching his stomach.
“I’m so sorry--” Taehyung gasps between laughs, “--you just looked so confused it was so funny!”
Jungkook fights back the urge to smile along with the omega, which doesn’t work at all when he sees the other’s big, boxy grin.
God why is he so beautiful.
“I take such good care of you and this is what I get,” Jungkook feigns a pout, throwing a towel over his own head to get all the excess water out of his hair.
“I’m sorry,” Taehyung sighs as he wipes away imaginary tears from his eyes.
“Sure,” Jungkook smiles before throwing a towel over Taehyung’s head. “Now get dried off. You have to warm me up after making me stand in that cold water.”
Taehyung pulls the towel over his head, a glint in his eyes, and Jungkook already knows he’s messed up.
“Oh, I can definitely warm you up.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes, throwing on the biggest t-shirt he could find of Taehyung’s. “You know I didn’t mean that .”
“Sure.”
The two get dressed quickly, and after what he feels like forever, the two are cuddled up under a blanket on the couch, hot chocolate hand and a warmth settled in both of their chests.
But Jungkook knows the thing he’s dreaded is coming. He knew they were going to have to talk, to make sure they were on the same page. Especially now that the semester was technically over.
It’s not that he didn’t want to talk things out, Jungkook just always felt like he did such a horrible job of explaining things, never knowing how to put his emotions into words. It had never been a problem before, not until Taehyung, until he had such overwhelming feelings for the other he didn’t know what to do.
But he’s ready now. Taehyung means everything to him.
“So…” Taehyung starts, looking at the alpha unsurely as he takes a sip of his hot chocolate. “You’re not gonna run away again if I bring up what happened, right?”
A soft smile pulls at Jungkook’s lips, finding the timid question kind of adorable. “I won’t. I promise.”
Taehyung smiles, “okay good, because you have to know I didn’t mean that stupid shit! I really don’t even know why I said it ‘cause I swear it’s not true at all I was literally just pulling shit out of my ass so please don’t be mad Gukkie I swear--”
Jungkook leans forward, cutting off Taehyung’s rambling with a gentle peck to his soft lips. “Baby I promise I’m not angry, it’s okay,” Jungkook whispers into the air between them, showing the omega a soft smile to soothe his worrying a little.
Taehyung looks up at him with wide eyes, an unsure expression taking the place of worry. “Then… why wouldn’t you speak to me? I thought you were having second thought or maybe you didn’t want this anymore--”
“No,” Jungkook angles his body to face Taehyung’s on the couch, taking the hot chocolate out of Taehyung’s hands to set it on the coffee table in front of them. “I’ve always wanted you, Tae. It wasn’t about that at all. I just-- I realized what a huge risk you were taking for me and I just got really overwhelmed with how much I lo--”
Jungkook stops himself, realizing what he was about to say.
Taehyung is sitting there expectantly, his eyebrows furrowed cutely with his blonde fluffy hair falling in beautiful waves over his dark eyebrows. And Jungkook wonders in that moment, why is he stopping himself from telling Taehyung?
He should be telling Taehyung everyday how much he loves him, how much the other means to him even if it hasn’t been a huge span of time. Jungkook wants to tell everyone really, but his fear of them being separated always stood in his way, but not now.
“Overwhelmed with what?” Taehyung asks with concern swirling in those golden eyes, so beautiful and so receptive to everything Jungkook is trying to express.
“I love you,” Jungkook breathes out, pulling Taehyung a little closer against him underneath the blanket. “It’s overwhelming how much I love you, Taehyung.”
Taehyung’s eyes go wider as he blinks up at the alpha, shocked by the sincerity behind Jungkook’s words. He understood exactly what the younger was saying, because he felt the same.
The words sound so beautiful falling from Jungkook’s lips, like they made everything fall into place, the world stilling around them as Taehyung replays it in his head.
“Really?” Taehyung gasps out, short of breath from the joy exploding inside of him.
Jungkook nods, a smile now evident on his features, “god yes, I love you so much, baby.”
That’s all Taehyung needs to hear to have him springing into action. He leans up, wrapping his arms around Jungkook’s broad back before pressing their lips together. The kiss is gentle, perhaps even gentler than he had intended, but it’s so perfect.
They both hum softly at the feeling, Jungkook moving a hand to Taehyung’s nape to press him closer. He had missed the feeling so much, missed Taehyung’s soft body in his arms as he pulls him as close as he can, revelling in the other’s aura. It felt different kissing him this time, it was different knowing they didn’t have to be such a secret now. That he could proudly claim Taehyung as his own instead of pretending they didn’t give a fuck about each other.
It was worth everything.
“Jungkookie,” Taehyung sighs, breaking the kiss to pull back minutely so he can look into the red eyes of his alpha. “I love you too.”
A stupidly large grin paints Jungkook’s features, unable to hold back how happy the words make him. He didn’t expect Taehyung to say it back, he wouldn’t ever demand something of the omega just because he wanted it. But god, Jungkook doesn’t think he’s ever heard anything more beautiful in his life.
He leans forward again, pulling Taehyung to straddle his thighs before their lips reconnect in a more heated kiss.
There isn’t an inch of space between the two as Taehyung threads his fingers into the damp locks of Jungkook’s hair, giving the alpha access to his mouth, which Jungkook immediately takes advantage of.
He teases Taehyung with his tongue, licking much too gently at the seam of the omega’s lips and dipping it into his mouth just to pull back.
An annoyed whine builds in Taehyung’s throat, “Guk, stop it.”
“Stop what?” Jungkook plays innocent, moving to press open mouthed kisses down Taehyung’s long neck. He planned on leaving so many pretty marks in the omega’s skin now that he finally was allowed to.
Taehyung honestly forgot what he was going to complain about as Jungkook runs his tongue over his scent glands, their scents mixing together to make such a sweet and strong aroma that has Taehyung dizzy with pleasure.
“So--can I warm you up now?” Taehyung mumbles, throwing his head back to give Jungkook better access.
The alpha hums into the junction of Taehyung’s neck and shoulder, sending a shiver through the omega’s body.
“Yes.”
“Jimin, save some for everyone else!” Jin nearly yells as he snatches the bowl of kimchi out of the younger’s small hands.
“Hyung,” Jimin whines, giving the other omega his best puppy eyes. “But you’re kimchi is the best!”
Jin’s facial expressions soften, his voice coming out much softer but somehow that makes it more terrifying. “I know. That’s why you’re going to save some for everyone else.”
Jimin swallows, “yes, hyung.”
Everyone looks on at the scene with mild amusement playing in their eyes, even Yoongi as he just continues eating his food in silence.
All their closest friends are here. Jin and Namjoon had invited everyone over for dinner to celebrate the end of the semester, and Taehyung had brought along Hoseok so it was definitely crowded, but everyone was happy to be together.
Well, at least for now. All hell was probably going to break loose when Jungkook finally announced that he and Taehyung are together.
He had only told one person beforehand. Namjoon. Jungkook had to make sure this wasn’t going to affect Taehyung in any negative way so he had taken hours to explain the entire story to the elder, and thank god it went well. Namjoon had definitely been pissed at first, but he sat and listened to everything Jungkook had to say and by the end of it everything was pretty much solved. It definitely helped that Jungkook waited until he officially wasn’t a student of Taehyung’s.
Jungkook had thought that telling Namjoon would be the hardest part, but now that he’s sitting in front of not only Jimin and Yoongi, but Hoseok too? Oh god, this is the end.
“Taehyung get some more, you’re skinny,” Jin scolds as he dumps some more food onto Taehyung’s already full plate, leaving the omega sitting there wondering how the fuck he’s supposed to eat all of this.
Jungkook smiles from beside him, looking at the other with fondness filling his gaze.
Well, now or never.
Jungkook clears his throat, getting everyone's attention. “Um--so guys. I have something to say.”
Jimin wiggles his eyebrows across from him, “ooo what is it Jungkookie? You look all serious.”
“Well--uh… so the thing is--”
Taehyung watches in amusement as his boyfriend tries to get the words out, and fails so fucking bad.
“Okay so what I wanna say is…”
“For fuck’s sake,” Taehyung mumbles, threading their fingers together under the table and lifting their hands for everyone to see. “We’re together!”
The room goes so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Jungkook is sure he hears crickets chirping a thousand miles away.
But he should have known it was only the calm before the storm.
“What the fuck!?” Hoseok practically screeches, his chopsticks clattering to his plate as his mouth falls open.
“I fucking told you! Give me my money!” Jimin yells at Yoongi, holding his hand out expectantly.
“Wait, you guys made a bet?” Jungkook questions, ignoring the still screaming Hoseok.
“Oh yeah, we made this bet like two months ago. And I won!” Jimin fist bumps the air, a huge smile spread across his features.
Jungkook just nods, unsure whether to be relieved or worried it was so obvious.
“I don’t believe it this is a joke!” Hoseok declares, looking like he figured out the answer to the hardest math problem on earth.
“You don’t believe me?” Taehyung shoots back, arching an eyebrow at his friend.
“No, there’s no way.”
Taehyung huffs, moving a hand to the back of Jungkook’s neck before placing a kiss on his lips, causing nearly everyone in the room to scream.
“What about now?”
“Oh my god my best friend just kissed the professor!” Jimin shrieks, taken off guard by the sight even though he knew all along.
Namjoon and Jungkook are the only ones not yelling or freaking out over something. They two alphas watch as the entire table descends into chaos. Yoongi is crying about his lost money, Jimin and Hoseok are trying to wash out their eyes, while Jin corners Taehyung about not telling him before everyone else.
They should probably do something to calm everyone down, but the two alphas just nod at each other and start eating, amused at the wild display.
As Jungkook listens to the sounds of their friends' voices either crying or yelling, he can’t help but feel content. Content that he has so many great people in his life, content that he found the love of his life even if it was a bit unconventional. He looks into Taehyung’s blue eyes, the omega all worked up from the chaos, and smiles, before placing another chaste kiss onto his lips.
“I love you.”
Taehyung smiles back, “I love you too.”
“Oh my god please stop it hurts!” Jimin screams.
Yeah, they wouldn’t change a thing.
