"Can't believe that she would harm you behind my back" Daryl said in exasperation because if he hadn't returned soon enough, Maggie would have probably killed Negan. "I've done many recessions for her, but enough is enough. Won't let her hurt you, Negan"
Negan let out a sigh as he sat down beside him.
"I was willing to tolerate whatever they wanted to be with you Daryl, but Maggie just won't listen. She is focused on her hatred for me"
Daryl looked at him right square in the eyes.
"If she can't control it, then she'll have to leave. I know how much you've regretted everything that happened. I'm not putting my happiness second though, not ever again. Want to be with you and I'll be either she likes it or not. I'm past the point of care..." Daryl said decisively.
Negan teared up as he was feeling emotional.
"I am sorry Daryl...for everything. I've caused all this, I get it now. I know that you deserve better..."
"What I deserve, is something I know," Daryl said to him as he touched Negan's face "you are the only one I want in my life, and gonna have you. Plus Gabriel agreed to get us married, without me having to beg a lot..."
Negan let out a soft chuckle at that and wiped a tear from his left cheek.
"We are gonna be together Negan. Believe it" Daryl told him softly.
"I am glad for it" Negan replied and leaned in to kiss him. "Promise that I'll try my best to make you happy Daryl, whatever it takes..."
Daryl gave him a tight hug.
"I swear that I'll never leave you alone again. We are gonna face all the things, good and bad. Don't want you to feel lonely, not ever again. Gonna have me, to be there for you"
"I love you, Daryl Dixon," Negan said to him emotionally "more than words can describe. I am so lucky that you chose me"
"That you are" Daryl answered, a bit teasingly.
"Let's go upstairs, Daryl..." Negan mumbled "really want to cuddle you right now"
"Same for me" Daryl replied with a smile on his face.
He took Negan's hand in his and they walked upstairs to lay down. Didn't know what tensions they would have to face but he was glad that he had crossed paths with Negan, despite everything that had happened.
Made him feel whole again when he was by his side.
