A wolf in sheep's clothing

Summary:

Trust. Trust came so easily to (Name) it was one of her greatest characteristics, and her greatest flaw. With a killer roaming her town, she shouldn't be so kind, but she was. And now, let's just say, the Devil isn't only focusing on causing chaos, but getting a certain woman's attention.

Chapter 1: Meeting

Chapter Text

It was a good day. Of course, (Name) always would say it was a good day. Her mother used to tell her, a positive attitude can help change the day. Whether that was true or not, well it didn't really matter, she took it to heart. Even as she rushed out of the house, throwing on the kitten heels a friend of hers had gotten for her, she still kept that positive attitude. Even when she called out for the trolleybus to wait for her and it continued on, she still thought it was a good day.

It was a rather annoying thing, to miss the trolleybus, but she didn't let that get her down. As she waited, playing with the hemline of her dress, she noticed that someone sat beside her. She looked over to see a man, darker skin, brown hair, brown eyes, and a smile on his lips. She looked over to see him reading a paper.

'FAMILY BUTCHERED DEVIL OF LOUISIANA RETURNS' She felt a frown tug at her lips. "Horrible thing.." she said softly as the man looked up from the paper, though he still smiled, it was a sad one. He pushed up his glasses. "I know, a real tragedy." "It's sad seeing what's going on now a day- Oh, I'm sorry, I should introduce myself, I'm (Name) (Last Name)" she said as she held out a hand for him to shake as he looked at her. If she looked closely, She may have noticed the look her gave. Like he was trying to figure out everything about her. He suddenly smiled wider, taking her hand in his, lifting it to his lips. She felt her face go red, there was no way she wasn't blushing. "Alastor." he said as she looked at him. "What, no last name?" she asked, trying not to smile herself. "Well, I don't just give it out to just anyone, cher." he said as once more, her face was burning. He seemed like such a gentleman, like the men from the stories she used to read as a child.

"Right, no, of course, forgive me I wasn't trying to make you feel uncomfortable." She said as he simply sent her another another charming smile. That smile, it caused so many people to put their trust into this man, caused women to swoon at the sight, and caused people to meet their end. However, as fun as he thought it would be to end her life..she intrigued him. It couldn't hurt to get to know this charming belle. At least, not before he ended her.

He finally let out a laugh. He couldn't help it. She really was interesting. "Don't fret cher. I just was pulling your leg. It's not a problem. I'll tell you eventually." He said, now looking at her full on. He stopped for a second before smiling again, thankful for the trolleybus to pull up once more. He waited as the doors opened as he looked behind him only to see her behind him. Of course she would be, she was getting on as well. She sent him a cheerful smile as he got on as she sat down, looking out the window.

Alastor however was not as lucky. He was unable to relax. He found this odd sensation in his chest. If he had to describe it, it would feel like a hand being forced into his chest, grabbing his heart. A new feeling. But he didn't have time for these silly feelings. If he became distracted, he'd be caught. He'd need to get rid of these feelings, which meant he wouldn't have time to get to know this (Name) any better.

Which is what he told himself when he saw her again, walking down the streets in the light of street lamps. He found himself walking towards her, one goal in mind. Kill. Just kill her and get it over with. Don't worry about anything else, just get rid of her and get rid of this feeling. Just as he reached out to grab her, she turned around.

"Alastor! I thought I heard someone behind me, you're lucky I didn't slap you! I thought you were here to harm me. Oh I'm so relieved that it's just you- what are you doing out so late anyway? You know it's unhealthy to be up so late." He stopped. Even now, she was standing here, trusting him. She didn't even know a thing about him, other than his first name. It was a wonder that she was even alive right now. If he didn't try to kill her, someone else would have.

Forcing a smile he shakes his head. "Forgive me, I saw you walking alone, and we'll, with this maniac on the loose, well, I got worried about you." He said, the lie coming far easier than he had first thought. She looked at him for a moment.. then two. She suddenly broke into a smile. "Oh! Alastor!" She smiled happily. "that's so kind of you, why, I think I may just blush." She said, even though she already was. He looked at her for a moment before smiling, holding out a gloved hand.

"Let me walk you to the station darling." Ah yes, he's got her now. A wolf in sheep's clothing..a spider spining a web. A--

He stopped his thoughts. He felt her lips against his cheek. She..had kissed him. He looked at her shocked. "Well? Aren't you going to walk me to the station?" She asked. The tone showed she thought of it as no big deal, but Alastor, he felt- no, he KNEW it was something far more. It wasn't her trapped in his web, he was starting to get caught in his own web, and that wouldn't do.

She looked down at her hand, letting out a slight whimper as his hand tightens around her own, the sound causing him to let go of her hand. "Ah, sorry my dear, forgive me. I got lost in thought, let me see your hand." He said gently, lifting her hand up to see it was already bruising. Had he truly grabbed it that hard? Why did he even pretend to care, he didn't have to keep this facade up. But, he did.

"Perhaps I could ice your hand, come. I'll take you to my house-- with your permission of course. I know how it must look. A man, inviting a beautiful young woman to his home, at night none the less, but I'd like to assure you, I have no desire to partake in such... activities." Even he couldn't hide his distaste for such things, never had he cared about sex. Even as a young boy he never grew 'curious' about his body. It simply didn't interest him.

So why did his heart quicken when she agreed.
