Chapter Text
"I can't. Anymore."
Mina sobs as she tries to clamp her legs. She has lost count of how many times she has come in Nayeon's hand and tongue.
The older girl's needs are animalistic and carnal, kisses fervent and scorching. And Mina thinks she might burn.
Burn and turn to nothing, nothing but dust, when the sun rises the next morning. And brings their marriage to an end.
She pulls Nayeon up from between her legs and kisses her senseless, her lips and mouth, hot and hungry on the singer.
She rolls them around as she thrusts a hand between them.
Tonight is different. There is no loving or tenderness that is usually there between them.
This is all about taking.
Taking everything and as much as she can before she's left with nothing.
They sometimes drift off to sleep, only to wake up needing to touch the other person.
Mina wakes up during the night, gasping for breath, with Nayeon's tongue buried in her center.
Nayeon stirs with Mina's fingers rolling her nipple, hips bucking into the younger girl's hand.
They fuck like they want to make the most of their last night together.
Like they want to forget atleast for the night that their heart will be broken in the morning.
"Hi."
Nayeon's eyes on her are tender.
Mina feels sore and worn out from making love all night.
"Hi."
She replies, her eyes gazing at Nayeon's face for a long moment as if to memorise every part of it.
"The girls will be here soon." Nayeon says.
And then Mina has to go.
She'll be out of her life.
With that realisation, Nayeon bends down and lays a soft kiss on her forehead.
She has waited patiently for quite some time to hear from the blonde she doesn't want to leave.
Maybe she should ask her to stay?
She pulls back, searching the warm brown eyes before hers, trying to find something behind them that'll give her the courage to ask her not to go.
Mina doesn't look away, taking in every moment for a memory. Memories that can destroy her once she walks out of Nayeon's life.
Please, she thinks, Just tell me not to go.
Nayeon moves closer with those dark eyes that looks so deeply into her soul, pensive look melting into a soft smile.
Mina knows the older girl is about to ask her something.
Her heart flutters expectantly.
They both jump apart when a loud noise comes from the living room.
Nayeon gets quickly dressed and asks Mina to lock the door behind her just in case it is an intruder.
Mina protests- she's not going to let Nayeon walk out alone into a potentially dangerous situation- only to be shut up by a kiss that leaves her speechless.
Nayeon puts all her emotions into the kiss trying to tell Mina what her words can't.
It is a kiss that takes Mina's breath away.
It is a kiss that speaks of love, passion and undying devotion and Mina wonders if her lovesick mind is playing tricks on her.
Nayeon rests her forehead against Mina. She smiles as their eyes lock and gives another quick peck on Mina's lips.
Then she goes in search of the source of the noise, throwing one last fond look at the younger girl, grabbing a golf stick on the way.
"Dad?"
She drops the golf stick when she comes across the grouchy man making himself breakfast.
"What are you doing here?"
"Heard you're dumping that charity case of yours darling." He chews loudly with his mouth open. "Came to congratulate you."
Nayeon clenches her jaws.
She balls her fists trying to resist the urge to grab the golfstick and smash his teeth in.
"I knew you're just like me darling. What did you say? Aye, it runs in the family."
He grins at her wickedly.
It doesn't run in the family. He is wrong. She refuses to listen to him. She isn't him. She isn't a monster. Mina has told her that.
"Love doesn't get you anywhere darling. Fame does. Money does. I'm glad you've finally come to your sense. We Im's are a nasty, hurtful and selfish bunch. We don't care about anyone except ourselves."
She opens her mouth to answer but no words come out. He is right after all. Isn't he? How many times has she hurt Mina so cruelly, heartlessly, like she isn't human.
"Your wife may the kindest woman darling but we are the cruelest lot. That doesn't fit."
That strikes a chord. Every hurtful thing she has said to the blonde resonates in her ears.
You're in it for the money. I don't see much difference between you and a prostitute.
Tears fill her eyes as she remembers the hurt she saw in brown eyes.
The hurt she caused.
"We thrive on power, we like to destroy others. That's what destroyed your marriage as well, right darling?"
Right.
How has she not seen that she only knows how to destroy when she's seen firsthand how she destroyed the girl.
She used to look like a low class prostitute, now she looks like a high class escort.
Her cruel voice echoes in her mind as her balled fists trembles slightly.
"Did you really think you are made for relationships darling ?"
He cackles loudly.
Nayeon closes her eyes shut.
This thing with Mina, whatever it is, has to be crushed in the bud. She will never forgive herself if she hurt the younger girl. She needs to protect Mina from her. Because her father is right, she doesn't know how to care or love.
Her own words playing in her head confirms it.
Do you know how much I spend on Romeo? You expect me to wear this?
She is self destructive. And she'll only end up taking Mina down with her.
I don't want to know anything about your family or whatever.
She can never give Mina a happy ending. Because she's not the hero, she's the villain.
She hangs her head in shame as she remembers the last cruel thing she told the younger girl.
It's my money and I'll buy what I want. Including you.
She collapses to the floor, dragging her knees to her face, crying for all the things she will never have in her life.
She lets sob wreck her body as she realises that for once she has to the right thing.
And give Mina her life back.
Romeo's big puppy eyes look at her sadly. He refuses to have his breakfast like he knows about the impending situation.
"You need to stop looking at me like that. You're not making this any easier for me."
Mina sighs as she folds the nightshirt and leaves it on Nayeon's bed.
The bed they've made love on. So many times.
She looks around wistfully.
It isn't the place she is going to miss, it is the memories that came along with it.
This door which Nayeon leaned against telling her she trusts her decisions, the living room table she left the gift boxes on, the kitchen counter where she usually leaves burnt breakfast, all the sweet and thoughtful gestures, hiding behind a tough exterior.
All of them has happened here.
She hears a car honk.
The members have arrived.
And it is time to stop pretending as Nayeon's wife.
Mina hears footsteps behind her.
Nayeon is watching her, leaning on the doorframe.
"I've got the papers you need to bring on Monday."
She hands them, careful not to touch the blonde.
Mina feels how detached and distant she sounds. Has she imagined that Nayeon feels something for her?
Nayeon shuts the windows in the room and closes the curtains, making the room dark and gloomy.
Perfectly matching how Mina is feeling.
She turns to look at the blonde in the eye.
"You've been incredible."
Mina wonders where Nayeon is going with this.
"You've completely satisfied your contract."
Nayeon feels sick saying these words. Like Mina means nothing more than a piece of paper to her.
But she still does it, she needs to drive the younger girl away from her.
Mina deserves someone better. Someone who is not a monster. She can never let Mina know that she harbours feelings for her. For all she knows Mina might not even reciprocate them.
"The contract?"
Mina shakes her head.
Has she imagined all the affectionate glances, lingering touches and forehead kisses? Is she nothing more than a signed sheet to Nayeon?
"Yes. You've done more than what's required of the job."
The only thing she has done other than what the contract required, is to fall in love. She has given her body and soul to the girl who apparently sees her as nothing but a contract.
"Went beyond the call of duty. Haven't I?" Mina scoffs.
"Yes", Nayeon adds hesitantly, "I will have a word with my manager and makes sure she pays keeping that in mind."
Mina laughs.
She laughs so much that Nayeon wonders if she has actually driven the younger girl crazy.
Mina wipes the tears off her eyes as she lets the laugh subside.
Nayeon, Nayeon is actually suggesting that she will pay extra for having sex with her.
You're in this for the money. I don't see much difference between you and a prostitute.
The older girl's words echo through her mind.
"You will have a word about what? That you want to pay your contract worker more because she let you fuck her?"
Nayeon flinches like she's been hit. She feels like she is going to be sick.
She hasn't meant it like that. But she has still implied them. She can convince herself it was said without an ulterior motive, it was a slip of tongue, but the truth is right there to see.
She is a monster.
She is the bad guy.
There are no two ways about it.
Even angels fall. Even Mina can be wrong. She'll always be the bad guy.
With the understanding and acceptance of the fact, she slips on her unfeeling and uncaring mask.
"Your choice." She shrugs.
Mina's eyes look into the impenetrable dark ones, searching for any semblance of the person she has fallen in love with.
She only sees the singer, the popstar, Im Nayeon.
Her chin trembles, bottom lip quivers as she tries to contain a sob.
Min's words ring through her ears.
She will destroy you Mina. Nayeon doesn't know how to feel.
"I never want to see you in my life again. Goodbye Nayeon."
She takes off her wedding ring, drops it on the night stand and turns around bending to pick up her luggage.
Her vision blurs with tears.
She doesn't care about holding them back anymore, they course down her cheeks like hot torrents of grief.
Nayeon watches her go, rooted to her spot.
I never want to see you in my life again.
The words play in a loop, knocking her down, mocking at her.
The room suddenly feels small. She feels like she can't breathe. She collapses to the floor. She doesn't know how long she sits there, staring at the wall.
She hears the members come into the her bedroom, shaking her, telling her they are going to drive Mina and asking her if she has anything to tell the blonde.
She's already said enough.
She doesn't cry even though her chest hurts like a hundred nails are being hammered into them. She doesn't cry because she knows that for once in her life she's done the right thing.
She hears the car leave the house, taking the girl who brought light into her life away from her, leaving her to be surrounded by the darkness and emptiness of her house.
She wants to run after Mina and beg her not to leave. She wants to kiss her and hold her. There are so many things she wants.
But bad guys don't get what they want.
Shouldn't get what they want.
They don't get happy endings.
They don't deserve happy endings.
