Work Text:
Shouto Todoroki had no idea what to make of Inko Midoriya.
She was a small woman, barely came up to his shoulder, and had the same bright smile and wide eyes that adorned her son's face. When Izuku stood next to her, it was like someone hit ‘copy and paste’, so to speak.
When she first met Shouto, she ignored his outstretched hand entirely except for using it as an anchor to pull him in for a fierce hug, standing on her toes to press a kiss to his cheek, kindly ignoring the way he froze up at the contact.
“Izuku talks about you constantly, you know,” she said happily, waving Izuku off when he started to whine. “Oh hush dear, it’s sweet. I was so excited when I was told you were coming over, Todoroki!”
“Shouto, please,” Shouto managed to say once he got his tongue unstuck from the roof of his mouth.
Inko cooed. “Whatever you say. Goodness, you teenage boys are always so thin, are you eating enough sweetheart?”
~
“I met Izuku’s Kacchan today,” Shouto said into the phone to Inko as he absentmindedly did dishes in the 1-A common room. “Well, sort of. I already knew him, I just didn’t realize who he was.”
“Oh dear,” Inko laughed. “Aren’t they funny together? Katsuki always knows how to bring out the worst in Izuku.”
“He’s in my class at UA,” Shouto said. “He...isn’t someone I would expect Izuku to get along with. He’s rude, and violent, and thinks he’s better than everyone.”
“No, Shouto, he doesn’t,” Inko said softly. She sighed. “Izuku will say the same thing if you ask him, so I’ll tell you now. Katsuki puts way more pressure on himself than anyone I’ve met. He got it in his head when Izuku was deemed Quirkless that he had to be the very best, for both their sakes. As he got older, it just...got rough.”
Shouto frowned. “It’s to protect him?”
“It always was.”
“He hates me.”
Inko laughed brightly. “I’m sure he does, he’s always been a little possessive when it comes to Izuku. Just give it some time, alright? He’ll get over himself, especially once he starts to see the way you two interact with each other.”
Shouto hummed, before letting a comfortable silence fall. After a moment, he spoke up again. “Izuku broke his wrist today.”
“I’m going to kill him.”
~
“I like your mother.”
Izuku blinked at Shouto, putting down his pen and ignoring his homework. “I know, you guys have a weekly scheduled phone call. I’m pretty sure you text her more than I do.”
Shouto flushed slightly, looking at the textbook in his hands pointedly. “She, um, reminds me of my mother. On her good days, I mean, not when she’s pouring boiling water on my face.”
Izuku’s eyes widened, before going painfully soft and loving. “Aw, Sho, she definitely sees you as a son too. She’s always on me about making sure you eat enough and making sure there’s nothing you’re not telling her.”
“Really?” Shouto asked, and Izuku beamed.
“Yeah! She adores you, I swear, I think she likes you better than me at this point!”
“She would never,” Shouto said solemnly. Izuku laughed, getting up and moving to press a kiss to Shouto’s head.
“I know, Sho, I know.”

“You’re coming home with me, shit-hair,” Katsuki said bluntly, throwing Eijirou’s shoes at his head.
Eijirou ducked with a loud yelp, before he processed the statement and frowned. “Oh, so now you deem me eligible to meet your parents? Did you even tell them that we’re dating?” he teased half-heartedly.
Katsuki paused in his haphazard packing, sending Eijirou a piercing look, making the redhead squirm. “Are you upset that I didn’t tell them immediately?” he asked, somewhat incredulously. “Seriously?”
Eijirou pouted. “C’mon, man, I’m allowed to be upset! It just feels like you’re hiding me, you know?”
Katsuki stared at him for long time, before sighing and plopping himself in Eijirou’s lap heavily, making the other boy wheeze. “Don’t be stupid. I’m not hiding you. Mom is just a lot like me and is gonna say weird shit and I didn’t wanna deal with it. Got it?”
Eijirou beamed. “Awww, were you protecting me from your big bad mom?”
“Shut up.”
Eijirou pulled him closer, kissing his head. “My manly warrior! Defending my honor from moms everywhere!”
“I hate you so much, let me go!”
“Never!”
“EIJIROU!”
~
“What if she hates me?” Eijirou whispered, and Katsuki scoffed.
“She won’t. Chill. Didn’t I tell you to lose the crocs?”
“They’re comfy!” Eijirou whined, before snapping to attention as the door creaked open to reveal a smiling blonde woman and a rather nervous looking brunet man.
“You must be Eijirou!” the woman said, grabbing Eijirou’s hand and shaking it firmly. “I’m Mitsuki, this is Masaru, we don’t do any of that ‘sir and ma’am’ bullshit. Can’t believe my bastard kid held you for so long, eh? Good to finally meet you!”
“You too, er, Mitsuki!” Eijirou said brightly.
Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Let him go hag, Jesus, you’re gonna fuck up his circulation.”
“Just because you have weak ass wrists doesn’t mean your boyfriend does!” Mitsuki snipped back, and Katsuki growled.
“They’re always like this,” Masaru told a horrified-looking Eijioru, smiling slightly. “You get used to it pretty quickly. Care to come in?”
“Yeah, thank you.”
“Of course, son.” Masaru paused, before making a face. “I’m sorry, but are you wearing...Crocs?”
~
“Have you thrown out those god-awful shoes yet?”
Eijirou sighed. “No, Mitsuki, I’m keeping the Crocs! I like them!”
“They’re horrible!” Mitsuki sniffed, before changing tracks. “Oh, whatever. Since you’re the only kid that bothers to call, care to update me on my stupid kids?”
Eijirou laughed. “Katsuki is doing good, he’s started stress-baking again and he’s now the most popular kid in class. Midoriya is also doing good, he shows up at the dorms all the time to hang out with Todoroki or Katsuki, or to try and make them get along. It’s really funny, they just can’t seem to be friends.”
Mitsuki snorted. “At least you and Izuku get along and can keep their asses in line.”
“It’s a full-time job!” Eijioru said cheerfully, making Mistuki laugh.
Katsuki entered the room, and Eijirou waved, earning a frown. “Who the fuck is on the phone?” he asked.
“Is that my shithead son?” Mistuki asked. “Put him on the phone!”
“Your mom wants to talk to you!” Eijirou said, offering Katsuki the phone. Red eyes went from the phone, to Eijirou, then back to the phone...and then Katsuki took off running out of the room.
“What-- damnit Katsuki, talk to your mother!”
