Chapter Text
How did it all come to this?
His eyelids are heavy, his throat thick with blood as he gasps for breath. Voices echo and call out around him, blue light flickers over him while dark shapes move around the edges of his vision. His body feels weak, blood trickling down shattered chitin and metal as his chest heaves. However a bright light hangs in the dark sky. He tries to move his hand reaching for it as he pants. He's gotten further than either of his dead parents, his dead siblings, further than even the mad ship stealer herself. He's gotten further than most of his people or at least the ones of his generation.
He knows his wounds are too great, he's going to die.
But it's worth it. His leaders are safe, and thought the toll was paid in his blue Eliksni blood, he wouldn't change his decision. He is more than just Fallen, he's more than a savage Alien that humanity wants to hate. He has sacrificed his life to ensure peace between his people and humanity. Words from a friend come to his mind. A saying about devotion, bravery, sacrifice and death. He doesn't care if he's not worthy, he doesn't care what the humans think of him now. He knows he'll be remembered as an Eliksni, one who saved his Kell, their scribe and petitioned for peace.
Tonight he will die beneath the Traveler, surrounded by human and Eliksni friends and allies, doing what he thought was right.
As his eyes begin to flutter shut, he takes one more glimpse at the Traveler. He remembers how this all began, how he gained the respect and love of his people , how his parents would have been proud of him for making it this far.
