Chapter Text
When you woke up the next morning the sun was streaming in through the curtains, filling the room with warmth.
You sighed deeply, and smiled as you felt the arms around you tighten.
It felt like your heart was expanding in your chest, just pure unadulterated joy. The smile that spread across your face could not be contained.
You tipped your head back, your nose brushed against the Lady’s jaw.
Lady Dimitrescu regarded your big smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners as she tilted her head down to kiss your nose.
“Is this real?” You whispered.
The soft pair of lips that found purchase on your own was your answer. You were absolutely weak, your limbs completely jello.
You grinned into the kiss, making the Lady laugh.
“I can hardly kiss you properly if you keep smiling like that.”
Your cheeks grew hot, but the smile stayed wide on your face. Turning your face into her neck, you hid from her.
“Sorry my Lady.” You mumbled against her throat.
“Alcina.”
So you were on a first name basis now. Overnight your entire world had changed, turned completely on its head. You could barely believe it.
You sighed, tracing shapes with your finger on her chest.
“Yes Alci.”
Alcina hummed approvingly, as she began to stroke your hair.
“Are you ready discuss what happened last night, draga?”
You froze. It had to happen eventually.
“I will handle everything of course. All I need from you, are names.”
She hadn’t taken your confession well the previous night. Angry, would be an understatement. No doubt she would slaughter every single maid in those quarters if you asked her to. And you’d be lying if you weren’t a bit tempted.
You wouldn’t though, what type of person would that make you? The three main aggressors came to mind, and you wondered briefly if the rest of the maids would reconsider their behaviour if you removed the ring leaders.
With your mind made up, you took a breath, and gave Alcina those three names and nothing more.
Alcina kissed the top of your head and nodded.
“Good girl. I will handle this.”
You nodded.
“Can I stay here? I can get you your tea?”
Alcina shook her head, as she released you from her arms and back onto the bed.
“You may stay here, but you will not be making any tea.”
You frowned as she crossed the floor towards her closet.
“I won’t?”
You climbed off the bed, and followed her into the other room. Just as you rounded through the door around the corner, you watched as Alcina’s nightgown dropped to the floor.
Standing with her back to you, in only her underwear, she smirked at you over her shoulder as your eyes soaked up the smooth expanse of her back, her curves, and long legs.
“Maids make the tea, and you my pet, are not a maid.”
When you finally met her gaze, you blushed in embarrassment, realizing you’d been caught.
Though as you really understood her words, your heart dropped in your chest.
“I’m not a maid?”
All the happiness you’d felt early was sucked from you.
Alcina slipped her dress on, and turned to you. Only to find you pouting at the floor before her. She smiled, and touched your cheek.
“You’re not a maid, draga mea. You’re my companion.”
Before you could say anything else, Alcina cupped your cheek more firmly and kissed you softly.
“Now wait here for me. When I return, we will have tea together.”
You nodded obediently.
Alcina smiled, before her face grew serious. She ducked under the door frame, and shut the door behind her.
You sighed deeply, but as Alcina’s words really sunk in, you couldn’t stop the smile that spread across your face.
Companion. That was like girlfriend, but of course girlfriend sounded like such a juvenile term for a woman like her.
You climbed onto the bed, and reached for the book the two of you had been reading the night before.
As you read you convinced yourself that whatever sound you heard was in your imagination.
When Alcina returned, there were red stains on her dress, and around her mouth. All over her really.
It was blood, you knew it was.
She was standing at the end of the bed, she seemed a bit- uncertain. As if she wasn’t sure how you would react to her. Her face was so serious, almost grave.
“The issue has been taken care of.”
You put the book down on her night stand, and picked up the handkerchief sitting next to it.
Climbing to stand on the end of the bed, you reached up and cupped her cheek. With the handkerchief you wiped the blood from her face and smiled.
“How about I run you a bath.” You said softly, before you pulled her in for a quick kiss.
Alcina smiled back, the relief clear in her features. She nodded, before kissing you again. Everything would be okay now.
