Chapter 1: Volunteer Work

Chapter Text

Jen scrunched her face up and lifted a chess piece. Her opponent clucked his tongue, so she put it back down. She lifted another one and moved. Her opponent fluffed his snow white hair then moved his chess piece.
"Checkmate, Jen."
"Again, Albert?"
"Again." He chuckled. "You should have stuck with the first move. You could have had me mated in 3."
"Well, I think your wife would have a problem with that." She grinned and he chuckled. "Another game?"
"No, I think I'm gonna go lay down for a bit."
"I'll take care of the board." Albert kissed her cheek after he stood up, groaning with effort. Jen hummed to herself as she picked up the pieces and folded up the board.
"You're great with them." She jumped and shouted in surprise, scattering the chess pieces on the floor. The man laughed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."
"It's ok." The two of them crouched down to pick them up. His dark hair had been pulled back into a ponytail. He flashed a wide smile that made his sharp cheekbones vanish. "I've seen you here before. Barnes, right?"
"Right. I'm Bucky, Bucky Barnes." He dropped the pieces into the box and extended his hand. She repeated the action and shook his hand firmly.
"Jen Cagney."
"Any relation to Danny Cagney?" They both sat back on their heels.
She practically beamed. "That's my grandpa. You know him?" She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear then crawled over to the other pieces. During his time with Hydra, he hadn't been with a woman, but that didn't stop him from appreciating her ass as it slowly wagged to one side and then the other with her movements. She glanced over her shoulder at him, catching him blatantly staring at her ass. She wiggled it on purpose. "Bucky?"
He startled, blushing at being caught. She laughed and shook her head but didn't draw anymore attention to his ogling of her backside."Yes, of course, I know him. How's he doing?"
Jen sat up with the rest of the pieces and shrugged. She dropped them into the box then rocked back on her heels and popped up to stand. Bucky stood effortlessly. "Today was a good day. He knew who I was. We played cards. Gin rummy." She looked at her watch. "Oh man, I've gotta go. It was nice meeting you, Bucky." She put away the chess board and hurried from the TV room, waving her fingers at him over her shoulder as she left.

Buck sat down next to Steve, handing him a steaming paper cup of coffee, wrapping his hands around his own cup. He looked out over the ornamental lake. They shared a moment of quiet, listening to the birds cry overhead and distant splash of marine life. "If things had been different, we'd be in here right now."
"Or dead." They laughed then the quiet fell in again. By rights, they should both be dead, Buck especially. That fall in the Alps, ya know. And Steve, well, he's an old man. And technically, so was Bucky. But you'd never be able to tell it from the look of either of them. They still appeared to be twenty something men of able body and handsome feature. Bucky cleared his throat. "I, uh-I met a girl."
"You did?" Steve turned slightly, giving his best friend his full attention. Fury and Hill had encouraged them to form attachments, to meet women. To ground them in this time, to keep them from going off the rails. Being completely honest, neither was really looking. But if something fell in their laps, they certainly weren't going to turn it away. "Where at? What's her name? What's she like?" They normally wouldn't have divulged these details. Did men even talk about things like this? They certainly wouldn't of when they were younger, but they were two men out of time. They needed connection.
"Here, actually. Danny Cagney's granddaughter, Jen." Buck sipped his coffee and looked out over the lake again. The wind caused ripples every time it kicked up but it remained still for the most part. "She's got this honey blonde hair that has a red tint to it in the sunlight. And her eyes remind me of grey storm clouds. She's pretty. Not 'movie star' pretty but 'prettiest girl in town' pretty."
"How have I not seen her?"
Buck laughed and glanced at Steve. "Jealous?"
"Maybe." They both sipped their coffee.
"She's horrible at chess. Or she let's Albert win every time. Gal's a card shark too. I watched her play rummy with Danny, Jimmy and Claire. Cleaned house." He rubbed his thumbs along the lip of the cup. "I don't know what she does, but she visits Danny at least 3 days a week. She's got a dark sense of humor." He tossed the cooling coffee into the grass. "I'm thinking of asking her out."
"Go for it."
"Really?"
Steve half-smiled down at his cup. "Why not? One of us should be attempting normal life." He tossed his coffee into the grass as well.
"Steve, come on. Neither of us are normal."
They stood and stretched then headed inside. The group of war veterans that the pair usually worked with sat in front of the TV, watching an episode of Hogan's Heroes. "Afternoon, fellas."

Jen sat next to her grandpa's bed, reading to him. Her soft voice trembled on the edges when she paused to take a deep breath. His eyes were closed. She'd tucked his throw blanket around his legs, which made him look small and frail. Her red-rimmed eyes flicked from the book to her sleeping grandfather. Her body spoke that she'd been crying but the tears had dried. The nurse had thankfully sedated him after he'd struck several employees as well as Jen, caught in an Alzheimer's induced flashback.
Steve peeked his head in the door. He picked up on the tension in the air and cut off his greeting but his knock still landed. She turned, blindly marking her place. Her gaze landing on him over the rim of her glasses. "Can I help you?" She pushed them up the bridge of her nose.
"I was just seeing how Danny was doing today." She turned to fully face him and paused. He noticed several things all at once. Her eyes widened slightly in recognition. She bit her bottom lip, the corners of her mouth curling up in a reluctant smile. Her heart rate sped up and she shifted in her seat.
"You're Captain America."
Steve ducked his head as if tipping an invisible hat. "That I am. Steve Rogers."
She closed her book and set it in the chair as she uncurled herself from the chair. She extended her hand. "Jen Cagney. You know grandpa?"
"I, uh, I rescued your grandfather once." He shook her hand. His felt strong and warm, and she immediately wanted to feel it other less appropriate places. Hers felt delicate and just as warm, and though his thoughts might not have been an x-rated as hers, they weren't pure in any form when he thought of where he'd rather her hand be. Their eyes met and again, he noticed several things. Her pupils contracted and her lips twitched into a smile. And she smelled wonderful, like Ivory soap and vanilla. He wanted to press his face into the pulse of her neck that kept leaping at him and take a deep breath of it. And her fingertips petted the palm of his hand.
"Well, thank you. Very much. I wouldn't be here if you hadn't." They shuffled awkwardly, letting go of each other's hand.
"Bad day?" Steve combed his hand through his hair then gestured to the bed.
Jen nodded and sat back down, replacing the book from the seat onto her lap. She tucked her leg under her. "The blonde nurse happened to be in here when he woke up from his nap. Suddenly, we were all 'Nazi cunts'. He began throwing things and screaming at us. When he punched her and slapped me, that's when she sedated him and called the doctor."
"I'm so sorry."
Steve laid his hand on hers. To be more precise, his hand swallowed both of hers where she'd clasped them and laid them atop the book. She looked up at him. Her fingers twitched underneath his. Would he jerk his hand back if she turned her hand to hold his? The tip of her tongue glided along the inside of her lip. "Thank you." She glanced at the clock. "I'm sorry, Steve. I've gotta run. It was a pleasure meeting you."
Steve drew his hand back reluctantly. Jen stood, putting her body rather close to his. Steve took her place in the chair to get out of her way. She laid the book on the nightstand then leaned over and kissed her grandpa's forehead. Steve couldn't help but notice her heart-shaped ass. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she turned. His gaze flicked back up to her face. Unexpectedly, she leaned down and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, Captain Rogers. For all your service and for saving my grandpa's life."
Steve cleared his throat. "No, uh- No problem, Jen." Her gaze flicked to his mouth as if she was going to kiss him, but she stood back up. Grabbing her purse, she hurried from the room. Steve watched her as far as he could, admiring the sway of her ass in those jeans.

Jen, Bucky, Danny and Jimmy sat at the card table in the TV room playing rummy, loudly. Their laughter and teasing seemed out of place in the nursing home, belying the age of the residents. Steve stopped inside the doorway, watching them play for a moment while no one noticed him. He watched the way she nudged Bucky with her elbow then turned to him and laughed. A wide, open-mouthed laugh that was pure enjoyment. Her sparkling eyes crinkled to the point you couldn't see them then widened. There was connection there. But there'd been connection between Steve and her as well.
"Barnes, you take that back!"
"I'll do no such thing." He grinned at her, his smile reaching his eyes for once. Steve couldn't help but smile seeing happiness on his best friend. He couldn't help the twist of jealousy when she threw down her cards then grabbed Bucky's face and kissed his cheek. Why did the one woman to get his attention happen to be the one to get his best friend's attention? Danny and Jimmy looked at each other then burst into laughter, nudging each other back and forth.
It was Jen that spotted Steve. Did he mistake the way her eyes lit up for a moment? And her smile broadened even as her lips parted? "Steve! Join us." She waved him over, scooting her chair closer to Buck, who looked pointedly at Steve then Jen's athletic body touching his. Steve's brow furrowed as he tried to interpret the action.
"Yea, Steve, come on." Bucky joined in the cajoling. They chorused in their cat-calling of Capt until he began to relent. A smile spread across his face.
"Watch it though, Cagney. Rogers here is aces at rummy. He'll beat the pants off you."
Jen turned to Steve and waggled an eyebrow. Her tongue traced her teeth in a positively lecherous exaggeration. "Promise?" Steve raised his eyebrow at the howling group then shrugged.
"Oh what the hell." He pulled up a chair between the Cagneys. Jen scooted her chair closer until she touched both Steve and Bucky. Their arms lightly brushing each other with their movements.
They played three more hands, laughing and telling dirty jokes before Bucky cursed softly. Steve glanced up from the cards in his hand to his best friend. "Something wrong, Buck?" He glanced at Jen, who was looking from her cards to the clock.
"I gotta go. Government mandated therapy."
Danny and Jimmy looked at each and nodded. Jen hugged Bucky when they stood up. They lingered a little longer than necessary. Steve noticed the way she hugged him tightly and the way Bucky shifted his hips into her body. There was attraction there. And again a spike of jealousy shot through Steve. "Don't forget. Friday at The Gooseneck at 7."
"I'll be there, beautiful." Jen watched him leave the TV room with a smile. She sat back down with that smile, picking up her hand of cards again.
"It's just about dinner time. I think we better call it quits. Need help with the cards, Lucky?"
"No, Papaw, I got it. Go eat. I'll see you Friday." She stood up again with her grandfather. Steve watched the old man hug his granddaughter and kiss her cheek. He sat at the table, watching as she gathered the cards.
"So, um, you and Buck going out on a date?" He tried for casual and failed. She smiled, thankful that her back was to him so she could stifle her laugh. She looked down at the deck of cards in her hand.
"Maybe. What if we were?" She looked up him challenging him to say something, shuffling the cards.
He met her gaze full on. "Well, I'd be rather sore I missed my chance."
"I tell you what." She sat down across from him. "You guess my card and I'll go to dinner with YOU Friday night." She plucked a card from the deck and held it, facing her.
"What about-"
"You want dinner or what, Rogers?"
He laughed. "Fine, um." He looked at the cards left on the table that she hadn't picked up yet and counted those in her hand, calculating the probability of the card She held up. "Five of spades."
Jen laughed incredibly. "No way." She flipped the card to face him and sure enough, it was the five of spades. "But truthfully, Captain Rogers, I don't have a date with Barnes on Friday. My friend Lee does." She finished gathering up the cards while he looked at her, disbelieving he'd been had. A triumphant little smile on her pretty lips.
"I've been duped."
"Sure have." She straightened the deck then set it in front of him. "I've gotta go. Meet me at the foot bridge at 6?"
"Uh, sure, right."
"Oh and Steve?"
"Yea?"
"I want to go dancing." She gave him a quick peck on the cheek before scurrying out of the room. Her nerves finally getting the better of her. She had a date with Captain America!

Chapter 2: On Your Left

Summary:

Jen teaches Steve and Buck to use social media.

Chapter Text

"Nina, you wanted me to tag your daughter, son-in-law, and niece, right?" The elderly woman squinted at the screen then pushed the glasses down on her nose to see through her bifocals.
"Yes, that's all." She patted the young woman's hand. "You're such a peach helping us old timers work computers and the internet and Facebook sites."
"It's no problem. I usually have down time while grandpa's in the bathroom or flirting with the nurses." The old woman patted the back of Jen's hand again then left her at the computer. Jen glanced around at the otherwise occupied senior citizens then logged onto her personal Tumblr blog. She scrolled through pictures of her favorite actors, some fluffy and cute pictures, a few talented artists, and a few porn blog posts that made her shift in her seat. She posted a quick little text post and was reblogging one when Bucky pulled his chair up next to hers.
"Whatcha doin', sunshine?" She quickly closed the window so he wouldn't see the inappropriate post. She was still having trouble reconciling that she was friends with James 'Bucky' Barnes, the Winter Soldier and that even though he was old enough to be her grandpa, he still looked totally fuckable and was, in fact, fucking a close friend of hers. "Oh come on, Jen, we've talked about worse in Lacey's front room."
"Don't remind me!" She blushed, dark and hot, which made Bucky laugh even more and louder. "Will you stop it?"
"No." Steve walked in the door, carrying a drink carrier of coffee and a bag from her favorite bakery. "Oh look, here's Steve! Come, look at what Jen was showing me on the computer." He waved over his best friend.
Jen's head snapped to the side, glaring daggers at Barnes. "You're an ass." Bucky launched into more hysterics. Steve sat the drink carrier down and opened the bag.
"I got your favorite, Buck. Peanut butter." He brought a rich brown cookie to his lips and took a big bite. "So show me." He raised that thin eyebrow that made her squirm, a movement that wasn't lost on either of them. Bucky laughed more as he snatched the bag and dug in for a cookie.
"Eat your fucking cookie, Barnes and shut up." Buck snorted and nearly choked on his mouthful of chewy, peanutty goodness. Steve swallowed and licked his lips, rolling his tongue against the crumbs on his bottom lip. Again, Jen squirmed in her seat. Alright, they wanted to play it this way. "Pull up a chair, Steve and I'll show you exactly what I was looking at."
The window she'd closed, actually just minimized, popped back up with the click of a mouse. She finished writing her own little blurb under a picture neither hero could see all the way. She hit post then clicked a few times and typed 'Stucky' into the search box. Steve and Buck both choked on their coffee and peanut butter cookie respectively as homoerotic fan art filled the monitor screen.
"What-"
"I...uh-"
"That never-"
"We don't-"
Jen made sure they were both damaged enough before she typed in another one, filling the screen with images of Steve and Tony as well as Steve, Tony and Bucky. They both shouted and covered their hands over the monitor.
It was Jen's turn to laugh. "I thought S.H.I.E.L.D. was teaching you about computers and the internet."
"Not that!" Bucky pushed the bag of cookies away, his appetite gone at the artist depictions of his loving his best friend in a way that had very much never happened and never would.
Jen reached in and grabbed a soft, buttery cookie and took a bite. She tried not to let her enjoyment show too much at their mortification or the cookie. "Do you have any social media? Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram?" They both shook their head. "Okay then, I'll show you both the sites and you tell me if you want one or not. Then we can set one up for you." She interlocked her fingers then flexed them to pop her knuckles and stretch her fingers. She wiggled them then set to work maneuvering to the websites.
"Are you sure that's not going to take time away from Danny?"
"Grandpa's watching old horse races. I'm invisible right now." She brought up the easiest one first. "This is Instagram. You post pictures and video clips and comment on or like other people's pictures and videos. As you can see, I follow Tony. He's a riot. He's always cracking on you, Steve." She grinned as she glanced at Steve then back to the monitor. "Deadpool's a great one too. A bunch of the mutants. I used to follow Bruce Wayne." She glanced at them and they looked confused. "Oh come on, he's like Tony only he lives in Gotham." Again, confusion. "Neither of you have ever been to Gotham?" They shook their heads. "Oh we've got to do a weekend there. You two- well, you two might be busy." She typed in a search and a bunch of accounts of people they recognized came up. "Superheroes and villains have tons of followers."
"Aren't we trying to stop that?"
She sighed. "This should be simple. Do either of you take a lot pictures on your smart phones?"
"We don't have smart phones. I don't, anyway." Steve sipped his coffee.
"I do but I don't take pictures. It's more for music." Steve raised his eyebrow at Bucky and Jen shifted in her seat. Steve blatantly turned the full force of the eyebrow to her. Her lips parted and she looked away to the monitor.
"So no to Insta." She pulled up Tumblr again and they both shouted 'no' which made her giggle. "Now wait a minute, I just showed you the fan art fantasies of the two of you. I personally love Tumblr. Here, this is my dash today." She scrolled down through the art porn she'd reblogged, missing the shared look between Steve and Bucky. There was an astronomy post, a couple text posts, a kitten picture, a turtle meme, and a few book related posts. "So that's what people that I follow have posted as well as a few things I've posted. I'm not going to show you my whole blog. I don't know either of you like that. And before you start, Barnes, yes I know you better than Steve but that's not by choice."
Steve raised that fucking eyebrow again. This time she sighed in exasperation and turned back to the monitor. Steve looked at Bucky and he shrugged. "So, you know Buck better than me?"
"I do."
"But only because she passed out drunk on Lacey's couch and woke up to us being... intimate."
"On the fucking kitchen table ten feet from me, Barnes." Buck launched into hysterics again. "So Tumblr or no?" They both shook their heads. They seemed to like Twitter and Facebook, so Jen set them both up with pages under their real names and not their superhero identities. By the time it was finished, the sun had set. Her stomach growled. "I better run. The natives are probably getting restless if I'm this hungry."
"I'm not sure I follow."
"Me either."
"Hal and Ollie, my cat and dog." They both nodded. "I'll see you guys next week."
"You're not coming Friday?"
She shook her head. "No, I've go a charity 5k on Saturday. I want to get in some more training on Friday and relax a bit." They both looked disappointed. Both friends disappointed for very different reasons. Bucky enjoyed Jen's company like a little sister that he loved to tease. Steve enjoyed Jen's company because well, she was clearly attractive and attracted to him, and she was smart and funny and didn't seem to want to take advantage of his abilities or 'superhero' status.
They stood up so she could hug them. She lingered a little longer with Steve than was really necessary. That had been what she'd liked most about their date. The warm, strong hug he gave her at the end of the night. She'd wanted him to kiss her, but Steve was from a very different time. He smelled amazing, cologne not unlike her grandpa's but his natural scent changed it and made it a whole new smell. One that she wanted to press her face into a take a big lungful of. Jen reluctantly pulled away. They watched her go before Bucky turned to Steve with something to say.

Jen's heart rate was right where she needed it to be. Her legs weren't cramping and her stride was an easy, maintainable pace. She turned to her left and began a circuit around the National Mall. She saw one other person at this early hour, but they were on the other side of the reflecting pool. She felt her shoe loosen then glanced behind her to make sure there was no one coming up on her before she slowed to a stop and bent to tie it.
She'd just secured the laces and began to stand up when she felt like she'd been hit by a semi-truck. She sprawled across the cement. She tried to gain her wits about her but could only lay there dazed. Steve's face filled her vision. He spoke but the music that had been comforting moments ago became a discordant cacophony in her ears. She reached up and ripped the ear buds out of her ears.
"Jen, are you ok? Answer me, please."
"Ow..."
He smiled, a halfway lift of the side of his mouth. "I'm so sorry. I thought you saw me, heard me."
"I saw someone on the other side." She held up the ear buds. "And I didn't hear anything."
"I'm so sorry. Are you alright?" He helped her to sit up. She noticed the wicked road rash down the entire length of her right thigh, weeping blood and plasma. Skin and blood streaked across the walking path where she'd skidded.
"I'm not sure. Could you help me up?" He gently took her hands and pulled her to standing. Her right ankle immediately gave out. She cried out in pain. "Shit." He caught her and held her under her arms.
"Let's get you to a bench." They hobbled together. Steve took most of her weight. He used the excuse to hold her against his body. He was a gentleman, but he was still a man, for God's sake. And she was very much a woman. He knelt in front of her and carefully lifted her foot to rest against his thigh. "May I?"
She nodded. He unlaced her running shoes and carefully pulled her shoe off. "Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow."
"At the very least, it's sprained. There's definitely soft tissue damage. We need to get you to a hospital for an x-ray. I'm really sorry, Jen. I don't think you'll be running in your race tomorrow." She frowned. She wasn't going to cry, but she wasn't happy. Upset and angry but it was only a race after all.
Steve ended the call she hadn't even realized he was making. "My ride is on her way. We'll take you to the closest hospital." He knelt in front of her again, pulling her foot back on his thigh. "Rest your foot here. Are you ok otherwise?"
Jen sighed and took mental stock. Aside from her ankle and the road rash, she wasn't hurt anywhere else. "I'm fine."
He laid his hand on her knee, his thumb rubbing back and forth over the joint. "How can I make this up to you?" All she had to do was shift her foot to the left and she could push her toes against his cock. That's how he could make it up to her. But she didn't. This was Captain America, for fucks sake. Not some jock who would give her a roll then could be used as a booty call in future if he was good. She sighed.
"Are you a good nurse?"
"Well, I guess we'll find out."
"I've got the perfect costume. Though, your chest is a tad broad for it. You'll just have to go topless." His eyes widened and he laughed. He couldn't tell if she was joking or not. And he wasn't too sure he wanted her to be.

Chapter 3: Shell Shock

Trigger warning: PTSD episode and night terrors.

Chapter Text

Steve set the coffee cups in Jen's sink. He smiled as he rinsed them out, her off-key singing drifting from the bathroom above the spray of the shower. He ran a hand through his wet hair. She was really something. A yawn took him by surprise. The shower cut off and so did her singing.
A few minutes later, her arms circled his chest then her lips pressed to his spine between his shoulders. "Why didn't you stay?"
"I figured you'd want a break from me." She reached up and tweaked his nipple. "Hey what's that for?" He turned around and grabbed her waist.
"I don't see you for months. You show up in the middle of the night with tiger lilies and deep dish. You kiss me within an inch of my life. And you think I want a break from you? I think I'm losing my touch."
He raised his eyebrow and looked down at her. She'd toweled off her hair but left it down. The same towel wrapped around her with the corner between her breasts and stopped at the tops of her thighs. His cock twitched against the towel wrapped around his waist. "You're definitely not losing your touch."
Steve pulled her body against his. "When do you have to be at S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
"Three days unless Nat calls before then." He looked down at her mouth then met her eyes. "What time do you have to be at work?"
"I'm working swing this weekend so not until 10."
"Oh, good." His lips hovered over hers. "I think there's some life left in those lips." His met hers, sending a thrill down her spine. For a ninety year old, he could kiss. His arm tightened around her waist and lifted her off her feet. She wrapped her legs around his waist, loosening his towel and pushing her own up. He carried her to the bedroom.
In the back of her mind, she knew he wouldn't go past kissing and touching. But still, Captain American would be naked in HER bed, kissing and touching HER. When he knelt on the bed, she released her legs and dropped to the mattress. He left the towels in place when his body covered hers, but his hand slipped up under her towel to rest on her hip.
"I thought about you every night I was away." He watched the weight of his words fall like stars in her eyes.
"Oh, Captain Rogers." Her arms circled his shoulders and pulled him down into a deep kiss. He nestled between her thighs. He could feel the heat radiating from her cunt.
He hummed. "I've yet to kiss you to death. I haven't even started on these." His fingers trailed along the bend of her legs, drawing forth that sweet, little whimper. His rough, calloused fingers pet her pussy, making her whimper even more. His thumb pressed to her clit and he worked a finger inside her then a second.
"Steve..."
He grinned that stupid boyish grin as he leaned up. "I see I haven't lost MY touch."
"Hey Rogers! Cagney!" Bucky and Lacey crashed into the open door and yelled in surprise. "Whoa, Stevie! Sorry!" Lacey covered her face, giggling hysterically. "We'll uh, leave you two alone."
Steve's forehead dropped onto her chest. "How did they get in?"
"Lacey has a key for emergencies." Jen stared up at the ceiling. Barnes was never going to let her live this down. She wasn't worried about Steve. He knew things about Bucky that would help him go back and forth with his best friend. Jen had nothing.
"Think if we lay here long enough they'll go away?"
"Oh no, those two are sitting out there, laughing their asses off." Jen propped herself up on her elbows. "And they know they've ruined the moment, and we're just laying here embarrassed and frustrated."
"So we should probably get presentable and go out there."
"We should. They probably want to go to lunch or something."
"You have something I'd rather eat more." Jen's lips parted. She tightened her walls around his fingers since he hadn't withdrew them. He kissed her cheek then her ear. His lips brushed the lobe as he spoke softly. "I bet I can make you cum and they'd never know it."
"Buck would know." The superhuman hearing. He moved his fingers to get her attention. Her hips moved of their own accord. His mouth hovered over hers as her breathing grew heavier. "Steve."
"Shhh, Jen." He kissed her at the moment she started to moan. His fingers worked in and out of her, rubbing her swollen clit in quick circles. Her face scrunched and her body jerked. She dug her nails into his shoulders and bit his neck to stifle her cries. Her body shook as the orgasm flooded from his fingers like liquid fire.
"You're evil."
"No, I'm just a dirty, old man."
"Dirty, old man, indeed."
"But I'm your dirty, old man." He kissed her again then rolled off the bed.
Jen combed her fingers through her hair, watching him drop the towel and pull boxers then jeans over that bite-worthy ass. Did Capt just? No, she had to have hallucinated it. Post-orgasm auditory hallucinations. And that fucking Barnes knew they'd been in the middle of something. Superhuman hearing, mother fucker.

Jen looked into the fading twilight. The sun pushed the darkness away in a rainbow of colors. She waved to her coworkers and started down to the light. "Cagney." She looked up and turned to the voice.
Goddamn, Rogers looked good. He smiled at her, leaning up against the motorcycle. His worn brown leather jacket just ached for her fingertips. She walked back to him. "Morning, Captain Rogers."
"Morning beautiful, care for a ride home?"
"Instead of a taxi? You bet your sweet ass?"
"I have a sweet ass?"
Jen stepped up to him and reached around him, grabbing a handful. "Oh yes." Their mouths came close. "I want to bite it like an apple."
"That might be painful."
"I'm sure you can take a bite from lil' ol' me." She chomped her teeth together and made him smile. Aside from Natasha, she was the only person so open and forward with him. She didn't treat him like this pure, pristine figure that personified every virtue.
"You're incorrigible." Jen climbed onto the back of the bike, wrapping her arms around his middle, and pressed herself to his back. "Keep your hands above my waist, unless you want us to crash."
"I can keep my hands off your junk long enough for you to drive me home, Rogers. Jeez." He laughed and started the bike. It rumbled to life in the quiet morning. She held onto him tighter, snuggling into the warmth of his muscular back and the soft leather. She must have dozed off off because the next thing she knew, they were stopping in front of her apartment.
He turned around and tipped her chin up. "Wake up, sleepy head. We're here."
"I'm sorry, Steve."
"You're fine, Jen. I just held on tighter when I felt you slipping."
Jen's chest squeezed at the affection of those simple words. She braced her feet on the foot pegs and climbed in front of him. She held on to the lapels of his leather. "You're the most gentle man I've ever met." Her legs rested over his thighs. One hand of his braced on the handle bar to keep the bike steady; the other wrapped around her torso. "I admit, I sexualize you, Captain. I flirt with you nearly constantly and I'm very tactile with you. But you make me feel safe and protected, beautiful and sexy, desired. You make me feel like I matter. And I want you to know that you matter to me." Jen slid off and hiked her purse higher on her shoulder. "Thanks for the ride, Steve."
Jen started to walk to the building. She didn't hear him get off the bike, but he grabbed her arm and pulled her against his chest, spinning her around. His mouth crashed to hers. His tongue tasted like strong, bitter coffee and he smelled strongly of ozone, like he'd been riding all night. She melted against him. He kissed her like it was the first time. When they finally broke, he stared into her eyes. "I'm right across the alley if you need me. For anything."
They flowed away from each other. Jen opened the door to the building in a warm, fuzzy daze. She looked back over her shoulder to find him standing by his bike, watching her until she was out of sight. He ducked his head and saluted her. She bit her lip and darted up the stairs.

The glaring red numbers of the clock told Jen it was just after midnight. Steve's apartment sat dark across the alley. He was supposed to be back from S.H.I.E.L.D. this afternoon. He'd sent her a text message to tell her he'd be just a few hours. She shook herself.
Come on, Cagney, you're not a couple. You're just friends. Yea, friends who kiss and get off together and nearly fuck in your shower and on each other's living room floors. He told you he was yours. Oh please, he was in the heat of the moment.
She went back and forth with herself in her mind before she slammed both of her hands on the table. For all she knew, he'd come home while she was down in the laundry room and had already gone to bed. It wasn't her business. They were just friends. She sighed and combed her fingers through her hair. Oh, but she wanted so much more.
Jen turned her music up a little bit louder to drown out her thoughts and moved to the other side of the kitchen table to fold laundry, facing the wall not the alley. Finishing up, she killed the light in the living room and carried the basket to the bedroom. She stopped at the bathroom to deliver fluffy squares to the top of the toilet tank.
As she put her clothes away, she thought about the weekend he played nurse. He had taken excellent care of her. He made sure she took her pain medicine, stayed hydrated, and stayed off her ankle. They'd started on opposite ends of the couch Friday afternoon after he brought her home from the hospital. By Sunday evening, either her foot or she was seated in his lap. He'd kissed her like she was something precious and pure.
Jen dropped to the bed and flopped her arms in her lap. "You're falling in love with him. Stop it."
She drew in a deep breath and stood up. She shook out the skimpy little nurse uniform and hung it on a hanger, grinning at the memory of his face when she'd handed it to him. He didn't think she was serious and had laughed. When he'd finally put it on, he'd looked ridiculous and sexy all at once. The top had gapped to reveal the delicious mounds of his pecs. Pectoral muscles that wouldn't let him button it. The skirt had looked really good with his ass and it made his beefy thighs look even more mouthwatering.
They'd laughed, but he'd been the first to stop and had kissed her to stop her. Their first kiss was spontaneous and filled with laughter. She gasped in surprise and his tongue charged forward. Then he'd stripped her and helped her on with it. His hands mapped her body like a cartographer, memorizing every curve and mound. They'd very nearly made love that night, but he was a gentleman and refused to take advantage of her injured and medicated state.
"You aren't falling in love with him, you ass. You ARE in love with him." She covered her face with both hands and slid down the wall, groaning.
This wasn't happening. She couldn't be in love with him. Why not? What was wrong with him? Nothing, that's what. Expect for the fact that he's a superhero and he's perfect and-and-
"And there's no way he's going to love you back."
There. She'd said it out loud. She'd made it real. Jen finished putting her laundry away then curled under the covers. Fuck. Her extra pillow even smelled like him. She drew it to her chest and pressed her face into it, breathing in the scent, With a frustrated groan, she slammed the pillow on the other side of the bed and threw herself out. Trudging into the kitchen, she opened the cabinets looking for comfort food. Because what do you want when you love a superhero and there's no chance he's going to love you back? You want a fucking a cookie, that's what.
"Cookies. Cookies. I know there are cookies around here somewhere." She slammed the cabinet closed and whipped around. What was that noise? She grabbed the wok out of the dish drainer by the wooden handle and crept into the living room. It sounded like a wounded animal, whimpering and moaning. But there was something else. A shuffling almost, clothe on clothe, by the sound of it. She flipped the light on suddenly, blinding herself in the process. Thankfully, her living room only held one nutcase with a weapon. Her.
She'd left the sliding door to the fire escape open. "Idiot." She dropped her shoulders, still holding the wok. The noise came through the door. Jen held her breath, squinting her eyes and pursing her lip to strain to hear it. It came again. Jen slid the door all the way open and stepped onto the fire escape barefoot. The sound was louder out here. She looked around in the darkness.
Call the cops. And tell them what? You hear a weird noise coming from the alley? They won't come out. What if someone is hurt? Which is why you should call the cops. But what if they don't come out and someone IS hurt? Jen shook her head and tried to focus on the sound. It came louder and more pained. From Steve's apartment.
Jen swallowed and looked down from the fire escape railing. It was only a couple floors and a couple feet. What's the worst that could happen? "You fall and die. Get back in the house, Cagney. You're being an idiot." She twisted the handle of the wok in her hands. "But it's Steve. He could be hurt." Then you call Bucky.
"Will you listen to yourself? You sound half crazy. Talking back and forth with yourself. Case in point." Jen smacked her forehead and tossed the wok across the alley to Steve's fire escape. She took a deep breath and climbed up onto the railing. "Oh god, this is so stupid. I'm gonna die. I'm gonna fall and die." She stood up then bent her legs. "I'm gonna die." The push off. She latched onto the railing, having jumped far enough. Her feet slipped off the iron rail and her heart dropped into those feet as she clung to the railing. "Shit. Shit. Shit. This was a bad idea. Bad. Idea."
Jen whimpered as she climbed over the railing, shaking from head to toe. You idiot. You should have called Bucky! She swallowed as she reached for the handle. It's going to be locked and you're going to be stuck out here all night. It opened. You are breaking and entering. Stop, Cagney! This is wrong. Climb down and go home and call Bucky. She drew in a deep breath and opened the door enough to step in. She snatched the wok, clutching it to her chest with both hands.
The sounds came from Steve's bedroom. She could see the door wide open as she tiptoed down the hall. His entire body jerked on the bed. Jen clamped a hand over her mouth to keep from screaming. Oh god, this was stupid. Stupid. Stupid! Go back and CALL BUCK!
Steve's body jerked again and he rolled over. There was the shuffling sound explained. His feet kicked. The headboard bounced off the wall. Jen clutched the wok tighter to her chest. She took the chance that there were no assailants in the room and strode in. He whimpered. She could almost make out words.
Night terrors. But he'd never done this when he stayed with her. Because he was relaxed and happy when he stayed over there. She set the wok in a chair by the door and crept closer. His body jerked and he shouted something she couldn't understand. Do not get on that bed. You don't know where he's at in his head. He could be on the battlefield. He could think you're an enemy. He could hurt you. Or kill you. Don't get on that bed.
Jen slowly rested her knee on the edge. He didn't move for her, so she put more weight. He rolled over hard and the headboard hit the wall. She squeaked before she could clamp down on it. Steve suddenly grabbed her upper arms and threw her onto the bed, pinning her under him with an arm at her throat. He breathed heavily and whined but his eyes were closed. She could still breathe but barely.
As she touched his face, her voice trembled, a frightened whisper when she spoke. "Stevie, it's Jen. Rogers, it's Cagney." She continued to caress his face and comb her fingers through his hair. "It's ok. You're alright." She hushed him and continued the caressing and petting. "I'm here. It's ok. You're not there. You're here with me."
Eventually, his head dropped and his arm loosened at her throat. She kept up the petting and caressing and shushing until he fell limply to the bed, his head against her breasts. She wrapped her body around his and held onto him, comforting him until his breathing slowed to normal and his heartbeat steadied.
Jen laid back on the bed and stared wide-eyed at the ceiling. Why? Why did I do that? Because I'm an idiot. And I love him. And now I'm stuck. What happens when he wakes up and I'm here and I wasn't when he went to bed? Simple, I won't be. As soon as he rolls over, I'm going to get out of this bed and CLIMB down the fire escape then climb back up to my apartment and he'll never know I was here.

That's not exactly what happened. Steve woke up before his alarm like he always did. He remembered going to bed alone after his shower. But he was most definitely not alone now. He recognized the scent of her and the feel of her before he opened his eyes. He just wasn't sure how she'd come to be in her underwear in his bed. Not that he was complaining.
He pushed up onto his hands and leaned over her. She felt the bed move and took a deep breath through her nose. "I can explain."
"Please do."
"I heard you. It sounded like you were being hurt."
"So you broke into my apartment."
"Your door was unlocked." She covered her face.
"My sliding door was. You climbed up the fire escape?"
"Jumped actually." But her hands muffled it.
"I'm sorry did you say you jumped?" She nodded but kept her face covered. "Jen, you could have been hurt." She nodded again.
"I know. I know. It's stupid. I was stupid. I should have called Bucky." He pulled her hands away from her face. She had tears in her eyes. Tears that broke his heart and worried him. Anything could have happened last night and he wouldn't have known.
"Yes, you should have. I don't have to tell you what could have happened. You've probably told yourself." He brushed the hair from her face. "Did I hurt you?"
"No, you scared the shit out of me." He frowned. "But you didn't hurt me." She wanted to reach for him. She did but pulled her hands back.
Steve covered her hands with one of his. "Jen, if you hear me again, you call Bucky. Don't risk yourself. If you want to come with him, come but you call him." His thumbs caressed her cheek. "I don't know what I'd have done if I'd hurt you." She let that hang between them.
"You, uh...you want to come over for dinner tonight?"
"Yea, yea, I'd like that. You know what else I'd like?" His head dipped closer. "I'd really like to kiss you right now." Jen licked her lips and there he was, his tongue invading her mouth and his body pressing hers to the mattress. He took her hands from her chest and pinned them on either side of her head. She wrapped her legs around his waist and lifted her hips off the bed. He answered her motion by grinding his into her. He broke the kiss and stared into her eyes.
Jen Cagney would never be Peggy Carter. But forty years in the ice had robbed him of that. He'd always love Peggy. But you can't love a memory. It won't keep you warm. It won't do adorably stupid things when it thinks you're in danger. No, Jen wasn't Peggy. But Peggy would want him to be happy. She found love and had a family while he slept the years away under the ocean. Now, it maybe it was his turn.

Chapter 4: Slow Dance

Summary:

Jen's admitted her feelings to herself. Will Capt admit his? Will he tell her?

Chapter Text

Jen raised her arms and danced in a circle, enjoying the rare afternoon off. Late summer brought erratic weather and busy days for her. Busy days for Steve and S.H.I.E.L.D. as they'd barely seen each other since the night terror incident. Each time, he disappeared for weeks on end. And each time he returned, he'd knock on her door with tiger lilies and something tasty.
She moved around the room, twirling and singing along with the song. She'd been dancing like this for hours, pausing to sip her wine or to refill her glass when it needed it. Like now, as she padded barefoot across the carpet to the kitchen. She looked across the alley at Steve's apartment and sighed, her smile slowly fading. She missed him.
Jen missed his war stories and the growing up in Brooklyn stories. She missed the way he delighted at the movies she showed him on Netflix. She sighed again and combed her fingers through her hair. She missed his arms holding her as they fell asleep. His warm kisses in her hair. She missed the way his fingers danced down her spine. How he'd growl when she gasped as his hands or mouth made her cum. She missed the way he'd tease her with everything but penetration, rubbing, grinding, dry-humping.
Steve wanted her, she could tell. But something kept him from making love to her. Bucky hinted at 'the girl that got away' when she asked him, thinking she was doing something wrong. They hadn't had the chance to discuss if this was going anywhere further than fooling around. It always seemed unimportant when she actually had him in her arms. She pushed off the counter and went back to the living room.

Steve opened the door to his apartment and dropped his ruck sack inside the door. He was weary down into his bones. These missions began to wear on him. He needed a break. He needed a beer with his best friend. A good night's sleep in his bed. A hot shower. He looked up at the music drifting across the alley. He needed her. He watched her dance and sway, sing and smile at absolutely nothing. In that moment, she was the farthest place from being a superhero, and he wanted to be there.

A loud bang drew her attention to the fire escape and there he was. Her smile lit up her entire face. He knocked on the sliding glass door. She opened it as he produced a bouquet of tiger lilies from behind his back. "Steve."
"Jen." The tension rose between them as he stepped in the door and she didn't back away. His hand cupped the side of her face and tilted her chin up as his mouth came down on hers. His arms wound around her waist as he pulled her body against his. The lilies fell to the fire escape, raining down on the lower floors and the alley below.
The slow, big band music started as Steve pulled away. "Watch the sun rise on a tropic isle/Just remember, darling, all the while/You belong to me." He looked into her eyes as they swayed in a circle. His thumb caressed her cheek then her bottom lip. Jen laid her head on his chest.
"I missed you, Steve."
"I missed you, too." He rested his chin on her crown then laid his cheek on her hair.
"Watch the jungle when it's wet with rain/Just remember till you're home again/You belong to me." They moved in a circle, their bodies pressed against each other. The sun-warmed iron kept her bare feet warm as they moved in and out of Steve's. Jen felt the rapid thump of his heart. She could hear the air swell his lungs as his chest rose and fell against her ear. The music ended and silence filled the warm afternoon. They danced in the quiet as if the song hadn't stopped.
"Jen?" She hummed in question as she looked up at him. "Baby, I'm not really good with women or words." He stopped her and tipped her chin up. "I'm just gonna come out and say it. I love you, Cagney."
Steve looked at her nervously, waiting for her to say or do anything. Her eyes rimmed red and grew watery. He thought she might start crying. She kissed him, almost desperately. A tangle of tongues and teeth that had them both gasping and pulling at each other. He walked her back against the glass door. It thumped loudly against her heels and shoulders. His hands moved to her ass and lifted her. Her legs wrapped around his waist, locking at the ankles.
His large hand held the side of her neck, his thumb keeping her chin in place. "Talk to me, Cagney."
"I never thought - I mean, I thought you weren't ever going to love me back. That we'd just fool around until you lost interest or just didn't come home."
"So you love me?"
"Yes, I love you, Rogers." He grinned that boyish grin that made her melt. "Now, Captain, take me into the bedroom and show me how much you love me." The last sentence was murmured between kisses as Steve kissed her lips repeatedly, drawing back as her lips parted and her tongue began to tease him.
"Yes, ma'am." She grinned as he stepped into the apartment, sliding the door closed behind him.

Chapter 5: Rockabilly Capt

Summary:

Jen finally gets Steve out.

Chapter Text

Jen finished tying the bandanna around her up do. Ringed curls poured out the front, pinned immaculately into place. The doorbell rang. She primped her hair one last time before hurrying to that door. Why did he ring? He had a key. Her black patent platform heels sounded loud in a the quiet apartment. The track list must have stopped.
She checked the peephole and there he was, looking off down the hall. His side profile made her sigh. He looked at the door and smiled. "I hear you in there." He closed one eye and peeked into the peephole from the other side.
Jen giggled. "You could have used your key." She unlocked the door and opened it, cocking her hip to the side.
"I'm picking my girl up for a date. I'm not going to just barge in on her."
"Your girl, I like that."
"You better." He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her up onto her toes as he leaned in for a kiss. She laid her hands on his chest, savoring the feel of his soft brown leather jacket. Their lips met in a tender kiss that grew more insistent. Her arms curled over his shoulders, drawing her body closer at the same time his arm pulled her more solidly against him. "You sure we have to go out?"
"Steve!"
"I mean, I could be called away at any time."
"I called Tash. She said she'd put it off as long as she could if she had to." He raised an eyebrow. "Hey, I went to all this trouble to get dolled up to take my superhero boyfriend out on a date. I'm not taking any chances."
His laugh was rich and happy and rolled down her body like warm honey. "Alright, baby girl. Where are we going?"
"First, you're gonna give me those tiger lilies behind your back."
He grinned and brought them out in a flourish. "Of course." She took them and kissed his cheek, nuzzling hers against his. She plucked at the petals as she carried them to their waiting vase. His gaze traveled down her back. The black satin capris made her ass and legs look stunning. He couldn't wait to run his hands and tongue over them.
Jen glanced over her shoulder, catching him looking. She grinned to herself as she placed the stems into the water and arranged the flowers. His gaze traveled back up her body as she crossed the room to him once again. She'd tied the side of her orange gingham button up at her naval. A sterling silver pin of his shield drew his attention to her breasts.
Steve laid his fingertips on the pin. "Does this mean you're mine?"
She grinned broader. "When you're not here." Those fingers trailed down from the pin along the side of her breast, his thumb pressing and rubbing up and down on her nipple. He leaned in to take her lips as she parted them. She leaned back. "If you kiss me like that again, we're not leaving."
"Who says I want to leave?"
She laid her finger against his lips. "I think you'll have a lot of fun. They're one of my favorite bands and they rarely play the east coast."
Steve kissed the pad of her finger. He laced his fingers with Jen's and brought their linked hands to his lips. He placed a kiss on the back of her hand. "Okay, Cagney. Let's get going." She grabbed her purse off the end table as they passed it and pulled the open door shut behind her.
Steve climbed onto the bike and held it straight for her. She used his shoulder as a steady and threw her leg over the back, settling against his back. She wrapped her arms around his middle, drumming her fingers against his belt buckle. "Afterwards, we can go for a drive."
He looked down at her fingers, playing with his belt and smirked. "If that's what you want, sweetheart." They pulled up at the address she'd given Steve an hour later, due to traffic. And due to the fact that he liked having her body pressed against his back and her thighs wrapped around his.
Rockabilly music poured out the open doors. Women dressed in retro chic stood in groups with men decked out in white tees or band tees and tight jeans with slicked back hair. Hot rods and classic cars and motorcycles lined the sidewalk and filled the parking lot. Jen braced herself on the foot pegs and Steve's shoulders and hopped off the bike.
Steve smiled at her bubbling excitement. She looked like a kid at Christmas. "What is this place, doll?"
"Harry's Hard Luck Bar." She locked her elbow into his and escorted him inside. He drank in the neon and throwback decor. "I've been dying to get you to a rockabilly show."
"Rockawhat?"
"Rockabilly, its music and fashion, cars and culture, a retro movement to the 40s and 50s splintered with today."
As Steve looked around, he was amazed by all the details and the mixture of the culture and era he knew and this new modern era that he was getting used to. Jen watched him soak it all in, a small smile touching her face. He'd looked fairly uncomfortable most of the places they'd gone out to but here, that stiffness in him seemed to abate.
She hugged him around the stomach, pressing her head into his chest. Steve laughed, caught off guard then hugged her back. "What was that for?"
"I made you happy. Even if only for a moment. I get to see you relax and be the Steve that you might have been fifty years ago."
"Hey." He grabbed her chin and lifted her face to look at him. "You make me happy all the time. All day. Every day. And don't you forget that, Cagney." He kissed her deeply. She wound her arms around his chest and lifted her body against him.
"Cagney!"
They broke apart and looked to the baritone. "Hey!" Jen jumped into a hug with a tall, built man that reminded Steve of a giant, not quite Dr. Banner when he was the Hulk. The man bear hugged her, pivoting back and forth. Jen curled her legs up. The big man kissed her cheek firmly and they beamed at each other before he set her on her feet. Steve felt a pang of jealousy at their familiarity. "Steve! This my friend Peter. Peter, this is my boyfriend Steve."
The men clasped hands and shook. "So you are the American Captain?"
"I am and you're Russian."
"Guilty as charged." He ducked his head. "You like the bar?"
"I do. It was an unexpected surprise."
Jen looked back and forth between the two then leaned in. "Peter has a super power too."
"Oh?" Steve raised a thin eyebrow. "And what's that?"
Peter laughed a deep, hearty laugh. "Oh no, my friend. You'll have to wonder. It was good to meet you. You take good care of Jenny. She's a good girl." The big man clapped his shoulder, glancing at Jen who was surveying the crowd. Steve caught the flicker of something there. Maybe Peter had wanted something more and Jen wasn't interested. Though clearly, their relationship, obviously platonic, was something special. Peter kissed the top of Jen's head then waded into the growing crowd.
"How'd you meet him?" Steve watched him as long as he could before Jen's light touch on his cheek pulled his attention back to her.
"You'd be amazed at the kind of people you meet in the laundry mat." A swinging metal beat struck up on stage and crowd launched into screams. "They're starting!" She bounced on her toes in front of him. Steve looked from her to the stage. A five piece with a drummer, two guitarists, an upright bass and a lead singer had taken their places while they'd been talking. He enjoyed the friction of her bouncing against him.
Jen glanced over her shoulder at him, noticing his enjoyment them purposely pushed her ass into his crotch. "Careful, Cagney, we'll miss your band." He clamped his hands on her hips and pulled her back into him, pressing his growing cock to the swell of her ass. They swayed together to the rapid beat. He bobbed his head with the fast pace. "Who is this?"
"The Stellar Corpses." She spun around. "Dance with me, Captain."

Almost two hours later, they squeezed their way out of the bar, laughing and holding hands. Steve pulled her around to face him and kissed her, flattening his hands on her back and pressing her to his chest. The kiss rolled through her like wild fire, setting her nerves alight. His tongue explored every inch of her mouth, tasting her more completely than any kiss they'd shared before. When he pulled away, she brought her eyes to his.
"Do you want to go for that drive now?"
"You bet your ass, Rogers."
The bike gave a full-throated roar as they tore off down the road. Jen clung to Steve's back as they weaved in and out of traffic, leaving the Five Boroughs behind and crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. It wasn't until the buildings and homes were further apart did he finally slow. Jen pressed soft kisses to his neck, her hands traveling up his chest then down his groin. Her nails drew up his thighs, causing him to shift minutely on the bike. Her hand cupped his crotch and squeezed his awakening cock.
Steve's dark pink lips parted, and he tightened his grip on the handle bars until he found a secluded spot to pull over. The engine died, plunging them into quiet. The sounds of nature and Steve's heavy breathing filled the silence. He leaned back into her, his hands slowly leaving the bar. "Are you sure?"
"Shut up, Rogers." He unbuckled the belt, unfastened the button and slid down the zipper. Her delicate hand felt cool on his hot, stiffening cock as she reached in his jeans and boxers. His soft moan zinged through her as she stroked him. They both felt their phones vibrate.
"That'll be Nat."
"Don't answer it."
"If she's calling you too, it's important."
"I know, but she can't have this moment. Neither can S.H.I.E.L.D. or whatever bad guy needs ass kicking." Steve tilted his head to look her. She kissed him passionately, stroking her hand up and down his cock. His hips thrust up into her hand. She broke the kiss and he moaned loudly. His eyes slid closed. To say Jen felt powerful in the moment would have been an understatement. She felt like a goddamn goddess.
Her thumb rubbed over the reddening tip of his cock, smearing the clear pre-cum that had leaked out. She tightened her hand around him, causing him to bark. Steve's eyes shot open and he pulled her down into a rough kiss. His moans in the back of his throat grew louder. He broke the kiss, staring at her with hooded eyes. "I want you."
"No time, Captain. Cum for me and we pick back up when you come home from your mission."
"We always say that. I get mine, you hardly ever get yours and I never get to feel you cum anymore. It's not fair."
She felt him softening. "It is what it is, Stevie. Now, shut up and let me get you off. I think there's lights headed this way." Steve grabbed her breast. He dug his fingers into the tender mound and used it to pull her into another kiss, letting her stroke him back hard. It didn't take long with her twisting her at the tip. He let his head drop back, groaning out his orgasm as he shot hot cum into the leaves at his feet.
Headlights swept over them as she tucked him back in his jeans. The car rolled to a stop and Tash got out. "Don't either of you answer your phone?"
"No." She shook her head.
"We gotta go, Capt." She crossed the clearing and motioned Jen off the bike. "Keep the car until lover boy comes home."
Steve kissed her one more time before she climbed off the bike, Tash taking her place. Jen hugged herself as they sped away. This wasn't what she'd expected when she thought about dating a hot superhero. She scuffed her heels through the leaves then slid into the driver's seat. It would be a long drive into the city.

Chapter 6: Getaway

Summary:

Steve and Jen get a weekend away, but Fury insists on Bucky coming along.

Chapter Text

“This is amazing. I can’t believe you were able to get me snow in the middle of summer.” Steve wrapped his arm around Jen’s waist as she stood on her tip toes and kissed him. They grinned in the kiss then nuzzled their noses together. He kneaded his fingers into the small of her back.
“Hey, I helped too, ya know.” Bucky dropped part of their baggage on the snow covered deck of the ski lodge. “Where’s my hug?”
“God, you’re needy, Barnes.” She pulled away from Steve and hugged his best friend with a laugh. Something unspoken passed between the three of them. Jen felt the warm electric pulse from his fingertips at the waistband of her jeans. Bucky felt the way her body fit against him in all the right places. Steve felt urge to press his body against hers from behind, pinning her between them.
Bucky’d been spending more and more time with them since he and Lacey had called it quits. Neither minded but the sexual frustration the pair felt had nearly reached global event status. Thus, this little getaway. But Fury had insisted they take another team member along ‘just in case’ so naturally, that fell to Bucky.
Steve unlocked the door and ushered her inside. “Baby, go see if we need to make a supply run, and Buck and I’ll start a fire.”
“Yes, sir.” He chuckled as she saluted then kissed his cheek before disappearing into the house. Bucky watched the pair then her walk away, his gaze drifting to her ass.
“Buck, you ok?”
“Yea, I’m just thinking that maybe someone else should have come. I don’t want to be your third wheel, you know.”
“Nonsense, we love having you around.” Steve squeezed his shoulder. Bucky brushed his hand off.
“I know, but you two need time together.”
“We’ll get time.” Steve clapped his best friend on the back then helped him carry the luggage inside the door. They closed it against the cold then went off to chop firewood.
Jen looked up from the list she’d started and rubbed her forehead. Oh, this was bad. This was very bad. Not that she didn’t adore James. That wasn’t the problem. It was this new delicious tension that had developed between them since he’d broken things off with Lacey. Not just him and her, but all three of them. Maybe she should say something to him. Or the both of them. Or maybe she should leave it alone and ignore it. It would go away when he found someone new, wouldn’t it?

The sun set low on the horizon when they returned from the supply run. Jen set about filling the cabinets and fridge. She watched the pair of them strategize the fire before actually getting it lit. Full dark engulfed the lodge to the smell of steak and burning wood. When dinner was done, they curled on the couch with a glass of wine.
Jen felt the long day, the big meal, the glass of wine and the warmth of the fire settle sleepily over her. She sat up from Steve’s chest. “I’m gonna draw a bath before I fall asleep.” She kissed Steve long and slow before pulling away. She patted and squeezed Bucky’s knee as she stood. They watched her climb the stairs before looking at each other.
“You should join her.”
“You sure? I don’t want to leave you.”
“Shut up, Rogers. Go get your girl.” James stood up, taking all three wine glasses. “I’ll find something to do.” Steve stood up and stretched, giving his best friend a glance over his shoulder before he jogged up the stairs.
Bucky looked up as Steve opened the bathroom door. He got a quick glimpse of Jen bent over, breasts hanging free. Her soft tan skin dark against the white panties she wore. She turned, catching his eye before she looked to Steve, smiling. The door closed as she stood up straight and turned. Bucky rubbed his face and leaned against the counter. Her round breasts, flat belly, and white panties driving him to frustration.
This was Cagney, for God’s sake. It was his best friend’s girl. HIS friend. He shouldn’t be having these feelings. But he was. He didn’t necessarily want to take her away from Steve. “Share her.” What was he saying? She'd never go for that. Neither would Steve. He pushed off the counter and pulled on his boots. Air. Fresh air would help immensely. If not, he could always chop some more wood for the next few days.

Steve settled into the Jacuzzi tub behind her, wrapping his arms around her when she relaxed against him. He kissed her neck, his eyes drifting to the floating globes of her breasts. He licked his lips then kissed her ear, scraping his teeth along the tender flesh of her lobe. His hands slid up her belly to knead her breasts.
“Thank you for this.”
“For what, Jen?”
He pinched her nipples then his hands sought to divide and conquer. One slipped between her legs to rub her pussy; the other held her neck as he turned her to face him and devoured her mouth. His cock twitched between them and began to grow as her body moved. When he let her breathe, she was panting.
Water sloshed over the edge onto the floor. Jen’s feet braced against the tub. He felt her body tensing as he rubbed her clit, driving her closer to release. His hooded eyes watched her face contort and smooth as each pass over her clit sent jolts of pleasure coursing through her. He kissed her over and over as she bucked. “Oh Steve, god!” He didn’t stop, wouldn’t stop, didn't want to stop. They’d been together for almost a year and he still hadn’t had the pleasure of feeling her cum from inside her. One thing or another had denied him.
“Go, baby, go.” He kissed her chin, scraping his teeth along her jaw as her body stiffened and she cried out in release. He took the opportunity when she was languid to climb from the tub and lift her into his arms. The slight chill in the bedroom pulled her wet nipples tight and studded her wet skin with goose flesh. He laid her on the bed then covered her with his warm body. Nothing would stop them this time. He wanted her like a dull ache in his belly that almost made him sick with it.
Steve’s mouth found hers in the moonlight. He stopped kissing her long enough to savor the feeling of finally filling her. Jen gasped as her cunt spasmed around his cock. He brushed the hair from her face and held her jaw, memorizing her face. He didn’t want to break the moment, but his hips trembled eagerly as he kept them still. Her legs wrapped around his waist and they were off.
Neither of them took very long to reach that precipice. His teeth grazed her chin as she threw her head back, shouting his name to the darkened room. He kissed her throat then rolled so she was on top of him and held her against his chest.

Bucky dropped down onto the couch, warming himself by the fire. He hadn’t stayed gone long enough. He could hear them. Her moans and his grunts, every now and then, the smack of the headboard against the wall. Each sound stabbed him in the gut. He rubbed his face again. He didn’t want to go back out into the cold. But he shouldn’t stay here, listening to them. Becoming uncomfortably aroused by the sound of their love-making.
With a frustrated growl, he stood and stomped up the stairs. He stripped his clothes off angrily. Why had he been so stupid? He should have moved on Jen before she’d met Steve. Instead, he’d been seduced by a pair of luscious tits and open legs. But that’s all Lacey was. Once he’d satisfied decades of pent up sexual need and tension, he’d found her boring. She didn’t get his sense of humor like Cagney did. There was no back and forth. He left his boxers on and fell into bed, a heavy weight with a heavy heart and a heavy soul.

The moon shone brilliant silvery white in the sky. Steve’s warmth at her back made her snuggle more into him. His arm tightened reflexively around her waist. She smiled to herself and snuggled even more. He moaned, running his thigh along hers.
“Keep doing that and we won’t be getting anymore sleep.”
She giggled softly and wiggled back against him. His hand splayed against her belly, pressing her back into his awakening cock. She stretched and pushed her ass against him. He cupped her and buried his face in her neck, breathing her in.
They both froze at the bang in the next room. There was another and Bucky shouted. Steve jumped up, the comfortable warmth of their moment shattered. He pulled on his boxers but another crash and shout prevented him from any other clothing. Jen pulled her robe on as he threw open the door.
Bucky screamed from the next room. Jen hugged herself as she crept out into the hall. She could hear Steve talking to him then silence. She peeked her head in. The room was in chaos. Bucky lay on the bed, breathing rapidly. If he didn't slow down, he'd hyperventilate. Steve sat next to him, tension vibrating through every muscle.
“Jen, go wait in the room.”
“No, he’s my friend too.” She crept closer. “Night terrors?”
Steve nodded. “Now, please, go back to the room. I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“I can help. We need to slow his breathing before he hyperventilates. ” She wrapped her robe around her and climbed onto the bed. She pulled Bucky’s head into her lap and began to shush his muttering and whimpering. Her fingers combed through his hair. “Lay down on the other side of him.” Steve sighed but lay down next to his best friend to please the woman he loved. “Wrap your arms around him.”
“He might resist. He might hurt you.”
“Steve, baby, trust me.” He frowned but did as she said. Bucky struggled at first, but Jen kept up her soothing ministrations. Steve pressed his cheek to Bucky’s back between his shoulders and rubbed back and forth. The tension finally left James’s body. It was like a plug had been pulled and it washed out of him. He fell into a deep sleep.
Steve relaxed his arm so he could lay his hand on her knee then he too fell asleep. Jen had a tougher time falling asleep than the boys. She managed to curl her upper body along the pillows, her right hand on Bucky’s head, her left on Steve’s.

Chapter 7: Stuck

Chapter Text

Jen shifted her hips at the touch of warm breath on her thigh, the barest brush of lips. Those lips continued their ascent. The bed shifted as he settled between her thighs. Then it shifted again.
“Bucky?”
Her eyes opened at Steve’s voice. He sat up next to where Bucky had been laying. His friend's movement had woken him up. He looked to Jen, but he could tell she’d been asleep and wasn’t a guilty party.
“I’m sorry.”
“That’s all you have to say?” Steve’s nostrils flared, his body vibrated with tension. Jen tried to close her legs but Bucky laid his hand on her thigh.
“No…I want what you two have. I want to be a part of it. I was stupid to let Cagney slip through my fingers.”
“I don’t know what to say.” Steve crossed his arms over his chest.
“This doesn’t have to be like those pictures she showed us.” Jen covered her face. “You love her. You love me. I care about her. I love you. I don’t want you in that way, but I want her. And the thought of you two together, I want that. It gets me excited.”
“Um, boys, can we discuss then when my pussy is not on display?”
“But it’s so pretty.” Bucky practically purred.
“I will agree with him on that.” Steve looked at Jen. “I don’t know what to do about this. Cagney?”
She swallowed and looked down at Bucky. “So? What? I date you both? I fuck you both? But you don’t fuck each other? You just stay best friends, brothers?”
“I guess that’s what this would be.” His thumb rubbed her thigh back and forth. “Could be.”
“So a polyamorous V?”
Bucky looked at Steve. “Do you know what that is?”
“No, do you?”
“Boys! We can Google it later. But I need to close my legs or someone needs put a body part in there because this is getting awkward.”
Bucky shrugged then slid one of the cool metal fingers inside of her. “Better?” He smirked at her squeal.
“You ass!” She bent her knee and kicked him in the shoulder. He laughed and rubbed it. Steve tried to hide his smile, but she saw him and threw a pillow at him. She snapped her legs closed.
“Oh no, you don’t.” Bucky pried her legs apart and lay on her right leg. She closed her leg on him and kicked him in the side. He laughed. “A little help here?”
Steve glanced at Jen. She had that playful, determined scrunch on her face and kept kicking his best friend in the side. Through everything, he’d always had Bucky. So, why not now?
“It’s not nice to kick people, Cagney.” Steve grabbed her foot and opened her legs, using his body weight to pin her left leg down.
“Hey!” She swallowed and looked down at the both of them. All playfulness vanished. A tight ball of tension formed in her belly. “Now…this isn’t fair. You two are super soldiers.”
“The better to pleasure you.” Bucky looked at Steve who pressed his lips together and gave the barest of nods. The only way he’d know if this would work would be if they tried it. He wasted no time. He’d been dying to taste her since the first he’d seen her. His tongue licked a slow line up her labia, catching the dew that had sprung when she’d saw them both down there.
The scruff of his day’s growth beard made her shift. His lips and tongue teased her clit until her hips danced. Bucky lifted his head. “Steve, hold her still. Every time I get a good angle, she moves.” Steve propped himself over Bucky, holding her thighs down with his strong hands. “Thanks, man.” Jen practically screamed as he sucked her clit between his lips. The varying degrees of pressure he put on it had her nearly crying. Steve swallowed and watched her stomach cave and her body writhe. Her hands shot to his hair and pulled hard. Bucky grunted and pushed his face further into her.
“Oh shit! Oh fuck! Jesus, god yes!”
Bucky groaned and licked her clean. “Well that was fast.”
Steve chuckled. “She’s sensitive. Here, let me show you how to make her last longer.” They traded positions. Bucky held her legs down and Steve settled between her thighs. He kissed from mid-thigh across the bend of her hip then repeated the process for the other leg. He breathed on her gently. She tried to shift but Bucky’s hold wouldn’t let her.
“Boys, this is hardly fair.”
“Think of this like your birthday and Christmas all rolled into one.” She propped herself up on her elbows and looked at Steve incredulously.
“You can’t be seri-“ Steve dove in, licking and sucking. She clenched the sheet in her hands and shouted. “Fuck! Steve!” His tongue swirled circles flat then flicked her with the tip. She nearly shot over the cliff a second time but he backed off.
“I discovered edging her makes her cum harder. Like this.” Bucky watched as his best friend ate his girl’s pussy like a champ, fingering with one then two fingers then back to one. Jen’s face contorted in a mask of pleasure, her breath coming in a pant. And just when her body ran with enough tension that he could almost feel it, Steve pulled away.
“Hell you say…”
“I only tease her with two or three times before I let her cum.”
“You know, I can easily take care of myself, jerk.” Steve laughed.
“Not if I have Bucky hold your hands .”
“You wouldn’t dare!” The men exchanged a look and Bucky climbed over Steve and up her body. Steve held her thighs down effortlessly. Bucky straddled her chest and took her hands, locking their fingers together. Her body bucked underneath him when Steve returned to her cunt, licking and sucking her clit. It didn’t take long before she was singing along that edge. “Oh god, please, please, Stevie. Please, baby.” Steve did the trick with his tongue that she loved and curled his fingers along her g-spot just right. Jen came in a barking moan, squeezing Bucky’s hands tightly.
Steve pulled her out from underneath Buck who turned around confused. But his confusion turned to knife-edged lust when he saw her on her knees. With a groan from them both, Steve thrust his throbbing cock inside her, Bucky momentarily forgotten. She arched her back and pushed her ass back against him, reaching up the bed.
Bucky swallowed and licked his lips, reaching down to rub his own aching cock. He watched her flip her hair and the way each thrust made her breasts sway. She reached for him and before he realized what he was doing, he knelt in front of her, having moved on instinct. His head dropped back as her hand wrapped around his shaft and her lips closed over the head of his cock. He groaned and laid his right hand, HIS hand, on the crown of her head.
Steve’s thrusts and Bucky’s thrusts made a kind of seesaw with Jen’s body. She moaned loudly but muffled and reached out. Her left hand dug nails into Bucky’s lower belly, making him hiss and stutter. Her right hand reached back to grab Steve’s at her hip. He laced their fingers together, snapping his hips with each thrust. Bucky’s fingers tightened in her hair.
Steve grunted with his release, breathing heavily before he came to his senses just barely. “She doesn’t swallow!” She pushed back on the base of Bucky’s cock, the tip slipping from her lips as it began to spurt. She wiped the bit of cum away with the back of her hand then rolled over onto her back.
“You fuckers owe me breakfast in the bed.” They looked at each other and laughed before curling around her for a few more hours sleep.

Chapter 8: Unexpected

Chapter Text

Jen rolled over in the bed from one solid warmth to another. Steve sighed through his nose then snuggled closer. She draped her leg over his waist. The bed shifted as Bucky got up to go to the bathroom. He cursed as he stubbed his toe on a box in the dark.
“I told you to finish unpacking.”
“Well, I had more pressing matters to attend to.” Bucky smirked, the throbbing toe forgotten. He relieved himself then crawled back into bed, pressing to her back. He lightly kissed her shoulder and drifted back to sleep.
Their first night at the lodge seemed so far away. Three days together stretched to three weeks. Three weeks to three months. Three months to six months. Then Steve had suggested they move in together. To protect Jen and so they didn’t have to split their time. They’d settled on a penthouse recommended by Pepper. It was big enough that the three adults would have their own space and the building happened to be owned by S.H.I.E.L.D. so it was definitely affordable.
It was mornings like this when she woke up sandwiched between the super soldiers that she had to take a deep breath and remember that this was real. Steve kissed the hollow of her throat. “You ok? Your heart rate just jumped.”
Bucky’s lips pressed to her shoulder. “We’re here if you need us.”
“It’s just moments like this when we’re all wrapped together I have to remind myself this is really happening.”
Bucky looked at Steve over her shoulder. “That’s a good thing right?”
“Right.” Bucky tightened his arm around her belly and snuggled closer. His morning wood pressed against her butt and she couldn’t resist a wiggle of her ass against it. He sucked in a breath. Steve chuckled. “We don’t have time for morning sex, you two.”
“And why not?” Jen trailed her fingers down his spine and across his hip, scraping her nails along his iliac furrow. Her hand closed around his morning wood.
Steve nuzzled his nose along hers, brushing his lips back and forth on hers. “As much as I enjoy that, Bucky and I have to be at S.H.I.E.L.D. for an assignment. And didn’t you say you had an appointment?”
“We can all be late, can’t we?” Bucky’s fingers slipped inside her from behind, trailing her arousal up to her anus. Jen placed the head of Steve’s cock at her opening. “We can be a little late, can’t we, baby?” Her lips moved against his.
Steve drew in a breath to say ‘yes’ and the phone rang. Bucky pressed his forehead between her shoulders. “That’ll be Nat.”
“I guess that’s a ‘no’.” Steve rolled away from her, sitting on the edge of the bed.
“You were going to say ‘yes’?” Jen rolled up onto her knees.
“That surprises you?”
“Yes, actually. I figured you were going to suggest Bucky and I take care of each other while you showered.” She kissed his shoulder then laid her cheek against it.
He turned so he could see her face. “I love seeing you shake when we’re both inside you. We’re going on mission that could keep us away for a time. Why wouldn’t I want that to be my last memory of you before I left?”
Jen bit his shoulder to hide the sudden tears in her eyes. “Jerk.”
“You love me.”
“I do.
Bucky walked back into the room, having taken the call out to the hall. “Nat is picking us up.”
“When?”
“In about ten.”
“I’ll start the coffee.” She crawled off the bed and pulled her robe on her shoulders.
Sure enough, ten minutes later, Natasha was stepping off the private elevator. “Morning, Jen.”
“Morning, Tash. Coffee?”
“No thanks, already had mine.”
Steve poured the rest of his out then kissed her, pulling her body against him. He held her neck lightly, tipping her chin up with his thumb so he could hold her in place. He pulled back slowly, looking in her eyes. “I love you, baby.”
“I love you, Stevie.”
Bucky set his empty cup in the sink. He waited for them to stop mooning at each other before he spun her around and grabbed the back of her neck. His kiss was demanding and passionate. He pulled her back with a tug of her hair. “I love you, Cagney.”
“I love you, fucker.” He nipped at her lip then let her go.
The trio walked to the elevator. “I will never understand how the 3 of you make this work.”

The gate guard jumped out of the way as Jen slammed on the brakes at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. She jabbed her finger on the window down button. “I need to speak with Steve Rogers and James Barnes. Now.”
“Do you have clearance, miss?”
“Cagney, Jen Cagney. Do I have clearance?” She mumbled under her breath while he checked the list. “Call Agent Romanov. Because if they leave before I talk to them, I’ll make sure they know you were responsible for the delay, Josh.”
“I’m just doing my job, ma’am.”
“Call Agent Romanov. Now.” Jen tapped the steering wheel impatiently as she waited to be waved through. The few minutes she waited at the gate stretched on forever.
“Agent Romanov said that if you hurry, you can catch them on the tarmac.”
“Thank you!” The guard radioed ahead to the tarmac as Jen squealed the tires before they grabbed. She spotted the two men she loved walking side by side toward a cargo plane. She laid on the horn, trying to get their attention. “Oh, please. Please. Wait. Don’t go.” Her hands twisted on the wheel. An agent in black ran down the gangplank and stopped the pair.
They turned to look in her direction as she hit the gas. The Mercedes ate up the distance between them. Both men faced her direction. She braked, stopping less than five feet from them. Jen fought with her seat belt as she threw open the door.
“Cagney?”
“Everything alright, baby?” She tried to swallow down some of her adrenaline. Her stomach heaved and she had to lean against the hood of the car. Steve stalked around the car and tipped her chin up. “What’s wrong?”
“I needed to tell you before you both left.”
Bucky was at Steve’s side, brushing her hair back from her face. “Tell us what?”
“My appointment this morning…it was supposed to be a regular exam. Get my birth control script filled for another year.”
“Captain Rogers! Barnes!”
“Jen, we really need to go.”
“You really need to hear this.” They exchanged a look. “I couldn’t get my birth control because I’m pregnant.” Both men jerked, surprised. “One of you is the father. I mean, I’d like for you both to be fathers to the baby since we all love each other and we’re all living together. But we’ve all been fucking on the regular, so there’s no way to tell who it is until after it’s born. Especially since I wasn’t even late.”
“Capt! Winter! Let’s go!”
“We’ll talk about this more when we get back.”
“If you need anything, you call Sam or Nat.” She nodded. Bucky kissed her quickly then ran for the plane. Steve looked into her eyes then kissed her. He looked over his shoulder as he ran for the plane.

Chapter 9: Infiltrated

Chapter Text

The full two weeks that Steve and Bucky were gone for the mission and the debriefing, Jen spent between the bathroom floor and the couch. Human Resources finally put her on indefinite sick leave until she was able to function again. And while on the couch, she used those hours to look up baby names and nursery themes for boys and girls and neutral.
She sat in the waiting room of her doctor’s office, scrolling through her phone when she received a text message from Tash.
Tash: Get up as calmly as possible and tell the receptionist something came up and you need to reschedule.
Jen: Ok…why?
Tash: Just do it, Jen. It’s for your safety.
Jen didn’t even bother asking how Natasha knew she was pregnant. Either Steve told her or it was one of those things she just found out. With a sigh, she locked her phone then stood up and walked to the window. As Jen waited for the receptionist to slide open the half window, she overheard a snippet of conversation on the other side of the glass.
‘So many new patients today.’
‘Yea, just within the last week. They all needed appointments today.’
‘Hardly any of them are pregnant.’
‘Did someone retire and refer their patients?’
‘Not that I know of.’ The window slid open. “Can I help you?”
“I need to reschedule.”
“But we’ve already got you checked in, Ms. Cagney.”
“I know. Something has come up.”
The receptionist stared at her computer, typing and clicking. “The doctor has a note in here for weekly appointments. So next week?”
“Sure, that’s fine.” Jen felt that creeping sensation of eyes on her, but she didn’t turn around. Instead, she let the awkward feeling hang in the air, waiting for the girl to fill out an appointment card before leaving. And she didn’t make eye contact with anyone on her way out.
Jen wasn’t surprised to find Natasha leaned up against the hood of the Mercedes. “So are you going to tell me what that was about?”
“When we’re on our way. I’ve debugged the car and the immediate area, but I’m not perfect and might have missed something.” Jen slid into the passenger seat as Natasha slid into the driver’s seat. “Steve and James are at the penthouse, but I don’t want to take you there right away.”
“Why not?”
“You never asked how I knew you were pregnant.”
“I figured Steve had told you or you just knew.”
Natasha smirked in the rearview as she deftly pulled the Mercedes out of its parking spot. “S.H.I.E.L.D. monitors most if not all our agents’ families and close friends. You being the girlfriend of not one but two of our agents means you get special attention. S.H.I.E.L.D. knows you’re pregnant. And if we know, Hydra knows as well.”
“Well, fuck.”
Again, Natasha smirked. “Fury gave me the go-ahead to pull some strings. You’ll be getting weekly visits from a doctor friend of mine. He’ll be posing as a yoga instructor.”
“Yoga?”
“You searched pregnancy yoga last week.” Jen looked out the window. “It’ll be fine. Steve and James won’t let anything happen to you. Plus, you’ve got me and Sam.”
She sighed. “I never thought dating a superhero would be this complicated.”
Natasha laughed. “You’re doing more than dating A superhero.” Jen glared at Natasha then they both burst into her laughter.
“Now on top of all the regular worries of a first time mother, I have to worry about Hydra.” Jen drew in a deep breath through her nose then immediately regretted it. Something in the car smelled off. Her stomach gave a lurch. “Pull over, Tash.” Now that she’d smelled it, the scent tickled her nose and made her stomach flip flop. “Pull over, Tash.”
“I’m trying, Cagney. We are in Brooklyn.” The traffic stalled and they still weren’t at the side of the road. Jen flung open the passenger side door and vomited onto the asphalt. She glanced to her right. The couple that had sat across from her in the waiting room were two cars behind them. Jen spit to clear her mouth then closed the door.
“When were you planning on telling me we had a tail?”
“I wasn’t. I was hoping I could lose them in traffic.”
“They were in my doctor’s office.”
“I figured as much. I had your doctor’s office monitored. None of the new patients with appointments today existed prior to a week ago.”
“Mother fuck. Do they understand how hard it is to find a gyno that you’re comfortable with? Great, so let me guess, I can’t go back to my doctor that’s been my doctor for five years I might add and that I’m comfortable with and actually like, until after I have the baby because Hydra has infiltrated it. What the fuck.”
Natasha smirked. She could see why Steve and Bucky liked Jen. The girl was the perfect combination of everything both men liked in a woman. She had just enough sass and soft to make both of them happy. And both men, though similar in some aspects, were very different.
“Your doctor friend better teach me yoga too. Work your Tash magic for him to have a nurse that knows pregnancy yoga. I’m gonna need a lot of calming for the next nine months.” Natasha laughed. The next nine months would definitely be interesting.

Chapter 10: Double Trouble

Summary:

The baby's first sonogram.

Chapter Text

Steve held the heavy bag while Bucky hit it. They’d resulted to this after they kept breaking the chains and nearly broke the window. Bucky clenched his jaw and breathed through his nose as he pounded the bag. Steve watched his friend but said nothing. He probably felt the same trepidation and worry that was swirling through Steve’s head.
Jen knocked on the door frame. “The doctor’s here, boys.”
Bucky relaxed back and began unwrapping his hands. “We’ll be out in the minute, baby.” She looked nervously from Bucky to Steve, who waved her on.
The men sat quietly on the couch while the doctor examined Jen in the bedroom. “Would you like the fathers to hear the heartbeat?”
“Yes, of course.” The doctor spoke softly to the nurse. She left the room and returned with two very nervous looking superheroes.
“Kindly lift your shirt, Ms. Cagney.” Jen tucked her shirt up. Lying on her back like this, she could really tell how round her belly had become. And she was only in the first trimester. She’d have to get with a nutritionist if she didn’t want to blow up like a house. Her eating or exercise habits hadn’t changed much either, except for the two weeks on the couch when she was throwing everything up. Maybe she’d lost weight and that’s why her belly looked so big so early.
The doctor squeezed the lukewarm ultrasound jelly on her belly then pushed the Doppler around. The small speaker just sounded like noise. He moved it to where they could just hear her heart. “That is you, Ms. Cagney.” He moved the Doppler back down onto the firm little mound of her tummy. Again, it became noise. He moved to the right and it began a tandem heartbeat. “So that is it. You’re having twins, Ms. Cagney.”
“Twins!” All three lovers looked at the doctor in shock. “Whoa, hold on. Twins don’t run in my family.”
“Mine either.” And Bucky shook his head. “How is this possible?”
“Without my diagnostic equipment, I would venture to guess that either one of you is the father of identical twins split from the same ovum. Or you both fathered a set of paternal twins. Ms. Romanoff informed me of your living situation, so either outcome is not out of the realm of possibility.” The nurse wiped her belly off then put the Doppler away for the doctor. “I’ll see you this time next week.”
“Do we have a due date?”
“Sometime in October. Since you’re saying you never missed a period and by the measurement of your uterus, I can’t give a definite date.”
“Should we be concerned?”
“No, no, twins are inherently high risk. That would explain your bigger uterus.” He scribbled a number. “If you’ve any questions before our next appointment, call me. If you experience any cramping or bleeding, go to the nearest emergency room.”
Steve showed the doctor out while Bucky climbed on the bed. She scooted over to put her back against his front. “This does complicate things.” He grunted in agreement, combing his fingers through her hair. “Talk to me, James.”
Bucky smiled and pulled her hair. She laughed and looked up at him. “I’ll wait until Steve gets in here.”
Steve paused in the doorway and ruffled his short hair. “May I join you?”
“Of course.” Steve lay on his back in front of them. He sighed deeply. Jen’s fingers skimmed down his arm then over his belly. He stared up at the ceiling, trying to find the words he needed to say. “Someone better speak because the emotional angst is getting a bit thick in here.”
“I guess I’ll go first.” Bucky squeezed her tighter. “I’m worried. I don’t remember the last 50 years. What if Hydra did things to mean that will mess the kid up? What if it can mess you up?”
Jen frowned. Here, she was worried about gaining weight and picking a nursery theme that wouldn’t stunt the child, correction children.
“What if one of the babies or both are born sickly like I was?” He clenched his jaw. “I know the serum altered my genetic makeup but without the doctor here to ask, and I mean how would I ask that, how do we know if my, you know, little soldiers were altered as well?”
Jen sat up then moved to sit on her heels. “They’ve made leaps and bounds in medical science since the 40s. So if one or both are born with your original birth defects, we have access to the medical care to make sure they live a better life that you had to. And they’ll have you and Bucky and I.”
“Yes, baby.” He told her what she wanted to hear because he didn’t want to stress her out any more than necessary. He would continue to worry until the babies were born.
“And…” She turned to Bucky. “…if there is any consequence to your torture, we’ll deal with it.” She grabbed one of their hands in each of hers. “We have each other. I mean, you’re Captain America and you’re the Winter Soldier. We got this. We can handle anything, so long as we face it together. No closing off and bottling up. I’m already freaked out at having a baby. Now it’s twins. And there’s Steve’s birth history and Bucky’s torture and Hydra. And I really want a drink right now but instead, I’m gonna go fix me a bowl of ice cream and watch Beauty and the fucking Beast.”
Jen slid off the bed and padded barefoot into the kitchen. She scooped out a bowl of pistachio almond ice cream then covered it in whipped cream. Steve and Bucky walked into the kitchen as she walked out, licking her spoon. She settled into the deep corner of the sectional and crossed her legs, placing her bowl in the little cave there. She queued up Beauty and the Beast, the Sword and the Stone, the Jungle Book and Robin Hood.
Jen rubbed her belly. “You in there, this is mommy. We love Disney in this house. You will know all the characters and we will sing all the songs. And we will go to Disneyland every year because your Uncle Tony is on the board of directors and he will get us in for free. Also, this is my favorite ice cream so please don’t make me puke it up in ten minutes because I don’t want to have to not eat it for the next eight months. Mommy loves you, babies.”
She looked up to see her loves watching her. She raised an eyebrow, daring either of them to say anything. When they didn’t, she started the movie. Steve settled on her right side, Bucky on her left. They took turns feeding each other ice cream while watching the movie then fell asleep under the big quilt Jen’s grandmother had made her in a tangle of arms and legs.

Chapter 11: Cribs

Chapter Text

Jen stood in the doorway with her hands on her hips. The guys were hunched over an iPad looking at directions on how to put the cribs together. At this week’s appointment, they’d discovered that the babies were growing at double the rate. So a normal 40 week pregnancy had cut itself in half. And at 2 months, they were a third of the way through. Next appointment, the little beans would be big enough to tell sex.
“Oh for the love of god, CALL TONY!” The men she loved jerked, startled by her yelling. “I’ve been watching you two strategize and organize for almost an hour.”
“Baby, we’ve got this.”
“That’s what you said two hours ago. All you’ve done is make a mess of the nursery.” They looked at each other then to the piles of parts and pieces. “That’s it. I’m calling Tony.” Jen turned on her heel and padded through the apartment. She picked up her cell phone and dialed.
“Cagney, get tired of the geriatrics yet?”
“Don’t make me regret calling you, Stark.”
He laughed. “What’s up, beautiful?”
“I need you to come help these two put together the cribs. Or better yet, send Clint. He’s there, isn’t it?”
“Why, yes I’m here.” Clint snatched the phone from Tony. “What do you need?”
“Either an engineer or a father. These two have no idea what they’re doing. Come help before I accomplish what Hydra wasn’t able to.” Tony snorted in the background.
“Putting together the cribs?”
“Yes!”
“We’ll be right over. I’m driving, Tony!” The call ended.
Jen grabbed a couple sodas for the guys and walked back into the nursery. They’d given up on the cribs and had moved to painting the walls…with their shirts off. She bit her bottom lip at the pair of muscular backs that flexed as they rolled the sky blue paint rollers over the white walls. “Clint and Tony are on their way.”
“You didn’t have to call.”
“Yes, I did.” She kissed Bucky’s shoulder and handed him the can. Steve took his can and leaned down to take her lips. “I appreciate all the work you’re doing. Especially since Dr. Shotts instructed me to do nothing but incubate the children for the next 2 ½ months.”
“Oh Cagney, don’t deny it. You love seeing us shirtless and doing your bidding.”
She grinned. “You’re right. And after Clint and Tony go home, you’re going to be on your knees bidding my pussy to an orgasm.” Bucky laughed and shook his head. She grinned, pressing her tongue against her teeth and wiggling her eyebrows.
“And what will I be bidding?” Steve kissed her neck.
“Since you can’t keep your hands off them, you can play with my tits.” She looked out the window at the darkening sky. “I’m gonna go start the steaks.” They watched her leave, her full hips swaying. Neither man could resist licking his lips.
Nearly every woman gets horny at some point in her pregnancy. Jen was no exception. One morning, she woke up and she wanted sex and a lot of it. Dr. Shotts had said that was because of the pregnancy. He wasn’t sure the twins had increased her need, but he was sure it was another anomaly from the super soldier serum.
As both babies grew at an increased rate but to normal size, part of Steve’s fear was eased. But the increased rate itself had both fathers worried. That worry was balanced by Jen’s pregnancy nymphomania. Just that morning, she’d woken them both up with her mouth then taken them both. The men weren’t complaining. Fury had put them on global catastrophe calls only. So they had all the time in the world to read stories to her belly, work on the nursery and fuck the woman they loved.
“Blue? Boys? You’re having boys?”
“No, Clint. Jen wants the walls to be a sky blue for the…sky. We have clouds to paint after this.”
“She’s picked out green carpet as well.”
“But that’s only after we’ve painted the ceiling dark blue.”
“She’s already had the twinkling lights for the stars installed.”
Clint looked between the fathers. “Already? I thought she was only two months?”
“Technically, I’m four.” She handed Clint a beer and Tony the iPad.
“Circular cribs? Clever. No corners to get caught in.”
“Actually, she picked them out because she’s hoping the babies are girls and she can run canopies down like they’re little princesses.”
“Cute. You three, be the muscle while I figure this mess out. Mama, you go fix me a smoothie. Pepper says yours are the best.”
“Kiss ass.” He grinned and shrugged. “But yes they are.” Jen was surprised to find one of the cribs half done when she returned with Tony’s smoothie.
“So explain this two month is really four months.”
“Well, there’s not much to explain. We don’t really know why. I mean, we suspect it’s because both James and Steve have been genetically altered. The babies are growing at twice the normal rate.” Jen shrugged then left the men to finish the cribs.
An hour later, Tony and Clint strolled out of the penthouse, both cribs together. Bucky and Steve hugged her from either side as she stood at the stove.
“It smells wonderful.”
“But you don’t. Shower. You both stink like sweat and paint.”
“She only likes it when we smell like sweat from sex.”
“Wrong, I just don’t want to smell paint while I’m feeding our children.” She turned to Steve. “I like when you smell like sweat from running…because you smell like ozone. And I just want to bury my face in your skin and breathe you in.” He leaned in to kiss her, but she turned to Bucky. “And when you smell like sweat after you’ve been working in the garden. You smell all earthy and rich. And don’t even get me started on how you smell when you’ve been working on the bikes.” They pressed her tightly with their bodies, hands caressing where they could touch, then separated. Each kissed her thoroughly then went to take a shower.

Chapter 12: Close Call

Chapter Text

*Target has left the café and is proceeding south to the light.*
*Converge on target.*
“Jenny?” Jen looked up from her text from Bucky to the sound of her name. Her smile broke like sunshine at her old friend.
“Peter!” The big man hugged her tightly and lifted her up. Her laughter drew the attention of those immediately around them. “How have you been?”
“Busy. Hiding.” He looked down at her then glanced around. “I’ve missed you.”
“I’m sorry I haven’t been to the bar in forever.” She smoothed the shirt over her belly. “Can’t really drink and the doctor has basically told me I can’t do anything.”
“Babies, Jenny? That’s fantastic!” He picked her up and spun her around. Her feet narrowly missed a man’s head. “The American Captain is happy no doubt.”
“Ecstatic. So is their other daddy.”
“I don’t understand this ‘other daddy’.”
Jen looked around. “Do you have time for a coffee?”
“For you, of course.” He offered her his arm. She wrapped hers around his forearm. “Lead the way.”
*Abort. Target is compromised. Codename: Colossus.*
Jen was oblivious to the activity buzzing around her. She’d been followed since she left the library. Hydra agents tailed her from the library through her window shopping to her lunch. They were set to grab her and the babies, but she was intercepted. S.H.I.E.L.D., on the other hand, was appraised of the whole situation and sent in Natasha and Sam.
The Mercedes pulled up next to the café and parked. Jen’s laughter fell as Sam and Tash got out of the car and approached the table. Peter turned around and leveled a look at the both of them, recognizing Natasha. Jen sighed and leaned back in the chair.
“What now? You can’t take Steve and James on a mission today. We find out what sex the babies are.”
“We aren’t. We’re here to escort you back to the penthouse.”
“Oh for fucks sake.”
“Jenny, is there a problem?”
“This isn’t your problem, big guy.”
Peter stood to his full height, towering over the agents. “Jenny is my dear friend. It IS my problem. Especially when one of the most dangerous women to come out of Russia is involved.”
Natasha frowned. “Do I know you?”
“I doubt it, but I know you and if Jenny doesn’t want to go with you, she doesn’t go, Widow.”
Natasha’s smile could break glass but never reached her eyes. “Now, I really feel like I’m at a disadvantage.”
Peter’s deep barrel laughter startled all three of them. “The Black Widow at a disadvantage? That is a first!”
“Uh, guys, can we tone down the dick measuring contest? We’re starting to draw attention.”
Sam leaned down and spoke softly to Jen. “Hydra’s been tailing you all day. Your friend here prevented them from grabbing you. We believe they might still be tailing you even though they’ve aborted the ‘snatch and grab’.”
“Right.” Jen grabbed her bag. “Will Peter be alright?”
“I will be fine, Jenny.” His dark stare bored into Natasha. “If I hear you are responsible for any harm to her, your death will be the next great Russian tragedy.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t catch your name.”
Peter grinned and it wasn’t pleasant as he extended his hand to her. “Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin.”
She shook his hand, quickly observing height, weight, strength by the firmness of his handshake, hair and eye color. “Natalia Alianovna Romanova”
“I know who you are. And now you know who I am. I will you see you again soon.” He turned to Jen before she got in the car. “Jenny, if you need assistance for anything, you call me. Pass that on to your Captain and this James fellow.” He kissed the top of her head then strolled off down the street.

Steve and James looked up from the TV as Jen stomped into the apartment, followed by Sam and Tash. Steve reached for the remote blindly, following her progress into the bedroom. The TV turned off at the moment Jen’s frustrated scream cut through the apartment.
“What happened?” Steve and Bucky both stood up.
“Hydra tried to grab her.”
“What!” The living room became a discordant din as Steve and Bucky shouted at Natasha and she shouted back.
Sam stepped up between them, raising his arms to put distance between them. “Hey, hey, everybody just calm down. Steve, James, take a step back. Tash, you take three.” When they’d moved back, he dropped his hands. “One at a time.”
“What happened?”
“Hydra tailed Jen from the library. They planned to grab her and the babies after her lunch but she ran into her friend Peter.”
“He’s a good guy.”
“You’ve met him?” The men nodded. “Maybe James will recognize his given name ‘Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin’.” Bucky frowned. “That I’d thought you recognize it.”
“Who is he, Buck?”
“One of the mutants from the Farm. Codename Colossus.”
“Should we worry about him?”
“He’s working with the X-men. I don’t think he’d want to harm Jen.”
“Of course he wouldn’t harm me. We’ve known each other for 13 years. We shared an apartment for a while. But then he disappeared for a few years. Showed back up at Hard Luck Harry’s about 6 years ago.”
“How’d you meet him?”
“I’d just moved into the city. I needed to do laundry. I walked into the closest laundry mat and there he was, cussing a blue streak in Russian at the little detergent vending machine. I offered him some of mine and we’ve been friends ever since.”
“So you don’t think Hydra has anything to do with him being in her life?”
“I doubt it. There’s no way they could have known about the relationship between the three of you and the babies 13 years ago. They still had Barnes and you were still in the ice.”
Bucky crossed the room to her, running his palms up her arms. “That’s why you never shied away from my arm.”
She skimmed her fingertips down his arm. “It’s just another part of you. Like the exoskeleton was for him.”
He tipped her chin up. “If you trust him, I trust him.”
“Peter threatened to kill Tash if he found out she hurt me in any way.”
“I’m not scared of him. I handled Banner.”
“You should be. Banner’s transition is based on his rage. When he’s the doctor and not the Hulk, he’s an average human being. Piotr is the strongest being I’ve encountered and that’s outside of his exoskeleton.”
The intercom buzzer sounded. “That’ll be the doctor.”
“And that’s our cue.” Sam and Natasha rode the elevator down and sent the doctor and his nurse up. She’d look into this Piotr, this Colossus. Her gut told her something was wrong. She just couldn’t put her finger on it.

Jen, Steve and Bucky stared at the television screen. The babies were big enough to have developed their own personalities. One kicked at the sonographic wand; the other tried to hide and had to be prodded to show its face.
“Let’s see if we can tell what sex they are.” The doctor pushed on the one that kicked to get the wand in a position to see or to get the baby to move. “Well, she’s spunky that’s for sure.”
“She?”
“Yes.” The doctor pointed out the necessary girl parts. “This is the one with all the hair too.”
Bucky let go of Jen’s hand and walked to the screen. His fingers traced over the baby’s limbs then her face. “This one, she’s mine.”
Jen's brow furrowed. “How do you know?”
“I just know.” He looked over at Jen, Steve, and the doctor. “You have a woman’s intuition. I have a genetically altered super soldier intuition.” Jen couldn’t help but laugh.
“Now the shy one.” The doctor prodded the baby turned away from the wand. It kicked the wand then obligingly opened its legs. “Well, aren’t you lucky, mom. You’ve gotten one of each.”
“A boy and a girl?”
“Correct.” Steve remained at her side. Part of him hoped that the doctor’s suggestion that the babies were paternal and carried different fathers; the other part hoped that both babies belonged to the same father and that father was Bucky in case the doctor had been wrong and his genetic defects could be passed on despite the effects of the super soldier serum; another part still hoped that one or both of the babies was his because he couldn’t imagine anything else in this world than sharing a family with Jen.

Chapter 13: Snatched

Chapter Text

Lips trailed along Bucky’s collarbone, followed by a scrape of teeth. He hissed and grabbed a handful of Jen’s hair and pulled her head back so he could ravage her mouth. She groaned at the thrust of his tongue into her mouth. They rolled off the couch, landing with a thud. His grip tightened on her hair as he ground into her.
“I need you.”
“Yes.” He tugged her panties to the side and thrust two fingers into her. She arched against him, her hips riding his fingers. When he felt she was wet enough and ready enough, he withdrew his fingers and fumbled with his zipper. She reached down to help him. The air left her as he pushed inside her. Their bodies set a push-pull rhythm against each other until they were shaking and cumming.
The elevator dinged. Before they could separate, Tash and Pepper emerged from the entryway. “Hello? Oh.” Pepper looked away as they made themselves presentable.
Tash rolled her eyes. “For Christ sakes, again?” She looked over her shoulder at Pepper. “If it’s not one, it’s the other. Where is the other, by the way?”
“Steve went for a run. He’s nervous about the baby shower.”
“I’ll be here and so will Pepper. What does he have to worry about?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Hydra kidnapping my girlfriend and our unborn children, maybe?” Steve emerged from the back hall that led to the stairs. He raised an eyebrow at Jen’s disheveled hair. Bucky shrugged. Steve couldn’t blame them. They’d done the same thing when Buck had gone for a walk last night. Light caressing had led to heavy petting and kissing then she was riding him on the couch.
“If you’re that worried, you can stay, Steve.”
The elevator dinged. “Early arrival?” The smoke canister spun into the living area. Bucky threw Jen over his shoulder and jumped the couch. He swung her around and into Steve’s waiting arms.
“I got this. Take her into the bedroom.” Jen couldn’t see much except for Pepper and Tash hand-to-hand fighting. Her stomach dropped as Bucky stalked into the arms and legs and chemical fog.
“Why today?”
“We were distracted. They must have been watching the building.”
Jen walked to the window and looked down to the street. “Steve, there’s black cars everywhere.”
“Of course, there are. They knew they were coming up against at least 3 of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s heavy hitters. Come away from the window, baby.” Steve put his arm around her shoulder. A metal arrow pierced the glass and extended grapples to anchor itself onto the glass. Steve pushed Jen behind his back.
The wire slackened then yanked taut. “They’re trying to pull the glass out.” They backed away from the glass just before a man burst through.
“Go! Go! Go!” Steve whipped open the door and hustled her to the back hall. “Buck! Tash!”
They whipped around. “We’ll meet you there!” Steve lifted Jen into a bridal carry and sprinted down the stairs. The wall exploded behind Steve and propelled him forward. Jen slipped from his arms as they both tumbled down the stairs. Several men emerged from the hole and attacked. Steve fought them off as Jen tried to gain her wits about her. She crawled down toward the next downward flight and only to be jerked up onto her feet by one of the men in black swat gear.
Jen screamed and hit the man, knocking him into those behind him with surprising strength. She ran for the stairs as Steve broke free. “Hang on, baby.” He wrapped his arm around her waist tightly and jumped to the next flight. He set her on feet and they ran. At the bottom of the stairwell, he paused and turned to her. “How did you keep up?”
“Side effects.”
“If they try to grab you, you punch. Punch through whatever you’re hitting.”
“Ok, Stevie.” He pulled her against him and kissed her, quick and deep.
“I’m not going to let them take you.”
A man in black swat gear crashed through the stairwell door like he’d been thrown. Steve cautiously stepped into the lobby. “Peter!” Jen ran from the door to where Peter, Colossus, stood shining in his silver exoskeleton.
“Jenny! Where is your Captain and Soldier?”
“I’m right here.” Steve looked around at the damage and bodies in the lobby. “Why are you?”
“I was invited to the baby shower. I’m afraid I will have to replace your gift, but I am glad I was early.” The elevator dinged and out stepped Pepper, Natasha and Bucky, who all pulled up short. Peter drew back his exoskeleton. Jen noticed the smile her friend had from Tash. “Widow! Soldier! How good of you to join us?”
“Piotr, what are you doing here?”
“I was early for baby shower.” He ducked his head. “I was hoping to see you.”
Jen’s sharp cry was muffled as a hand fell over her mouth. She fought the man who dragged her backward. “Steve!” The group turned to the scream. They’d been distracted by the awkward moment with Peter and Natasha. A fist connected with the side of her face. “James!” The door shut as the five of them crashed through the lobby glass. They chased the blacked out SUV as long as they could before one by one they dropped off.
“Nat, call Fury.”

Chapter 14: On the attack

Summary:

Jen's in Hydra's possession

Chapter Text

The harsh fluorescent light stabbed through Jen’s eye. She tried to close it but fingers held it open. She turned her head then a pair of hands grabbed either side of her head and held her still. A pin light shined in her eye.
“No change to the irises. I’d like to get a look at her optic nerve.”
“You sure you want to risk an MRI?”
“I meant get an actual look at it.”
“No!” Jen turned her head back in forth in the hands but didn’t get far. ”No!” Her body bucked. She tried to raise her arms and found her arms strapped down at the wrist and elbow. ”No!” Her legs weren’t secured though and she kicked blindly. Metal clattered to floor. She hit several bodily masses before several more hands seized her legs. Straps ratcheted her legs to the bed across her thighs and under knees. Someone strapped her ankles to the bed. “He’ll kill you. He’ll kill you!”
A dark laugh chilled her behind the pin light. “I’m not worried about Rogers.”
It was her turn to laugh. The medical team around the bed looked at each other confused. “I’m not talking about Steve. You idiots. He’ll kill you all.”
“I’m confused then, Ms. Cagney. Who exactly will kill us?” His arrogant smirk slowly faded as her laughter increased.
“My James.” She laughed until tears streamed down her temples. “Your Winter Soldier.” The doctor threw the glorified spoon on the metal work table next to the bed. He pulled off his gloves and stalked from the room.

“We intercepted a transmission this morning.” Fury looked at the pair of soldiers. They’d barely slept the last month. Between missions and searching for Cagney, Steve and Bucky had been non-stop since the day Jen disappeared. One or the other was one every team tracking every lead. Fury hoped to god they found the woman before she had the babies. And Heaven help anyone between these men and their children.
Steve and Bucky watched the video.
‘I refuse to continue.’
‘Why is that, Dr. Burns?’
The bald man fidgeted. ‘You did not tell me that The Soldier was the father of the children.’
‘Dr. Burns, we were aware that Barnes may be a potential father.’
‘And no one informed me of this? I cannot continue. He will be kill me.’
‘And you’re not worried about Rogers?’
‘Oh I am. He is a formidable foe, but he is not as frightening as Barnes.’ A gun shot echoed through the transmission. There was a brief spray of blood before the bald man fell out of the screen. A younger man replaced him.
‘Dr. Krieg, you have 48 hours to make yourself familiar with Dr. Burns’s research and experiments so far. Then you will continue. I want to know if the children are enhanced by the serum, as well as the mother. Do what you must.’ The young doctor nodded and the transmission ended.
“We were able to trace the location of the doctor but not the man he was speaking to. You two and Wilson will rendezvous with Romanoff and Colossus and their team just north of the location.” Steve and Bucky looked at each other. They didn’t need to say anything. If Jen and the babies were there, they’d do whatever it took to get her out.

Torture, stabbing, fetal distress

Bodies littered the grassy underbrush. Small fires dotted the forest behind the group. The field agents still standing would follow Capt anywhere. Steve looked up at the citadel on the hill. He turned to look at Bucky then Sam. A Hydra agent on a motorcycle sped toward them blindly firing his automatic submachine gun. With a growl, Colossus appeared from the trees. He grabbed the motorcycle by the back tire and flung it around. The rider cartwheeled through the air then hit the ground. He didn’t have time to get his bearings before Colossus’s smashed him with the motorcycle.
“We waste time!”
“I’m with the big guy.” Sam panted, resting his hands on his knees.
“Alright, we’re nearly there.”
“But Capt, we’re wiped. They’ve thrown everything they’ve got at us.”
“Which means they’re leaving the nest unprotected.” Bucky glared up at the citadel.
“I make command decision. Up you go. Tuck and roll, American Captain.” Colossus lifted Steve up by his ankle and hammer threw him out over the clearing.
Sam grinned. “I’ll give cover.” Natasha nodded, breathless and the winged man took off running then took flight.
“Next.” He grabbed Bucky the same way and threw him across the clearing.
“Gimme a leg up.” Colossus lifted her effortlessly onto his shoulders.
“You have good balance?”
“You have to ask?”
His thick Russian laughter stilled the activity in the immediate area. “Hang on, my Spider Queen.” Colossus became a silver battering ram, charging across the clearing. Great dirt clods peppered the air behind them.

Jen’s screams echoed up at the bare concrete walls. The electrodes sparked at her temples. Needle probes in her arms recorded muscular reactions. A uniformed woman ran into the room. She waited for the screams to stop. “Doctor, they’ve breached the walls. We should move her.”
“We haven’t time. Strap her down.”
“Yes, sir. What are we doing?” The medical assistants strapped down Jen’s arms and legs.
“Emergency cesarean.”
“Sir?”
“We can’t let these children go. If the mother dies, it’s a small price to pay.” The medical assistants looked at each other. The doctor grew frustrated with their hesitation. “Do it!”

Steve and Bucky fought their way into the citadel with Sam at their six. Colossus and Natasha cleaned up the stragglers from behind while the S.H.I.E.L.D. field agents pressed forward. The closer they got, the louder Jen’s screams became and the more unstable and aggressive Bucky became.
They stood breathless in a hallway. “I think they’re coming from below us.”
“We won’t make it time.”
“Stand back.” Bucky took a steadying breath then punched his metal hand into the floor. Tile and concrete bites sprang into the air. He gritted his teeth and did it again. The concrete groaned.
“Get a running start from that side, Buck. Land with both feet. Sam, you come in right behind us.” Steve and Bucky moved back ten feet on either side of the hole. With the barest of nods, they ran full out toward each other and jumped.
Four feet connected to two super soldiers hit the weakened concrete and kept right on going. They landed and snapped their heads up. What luck that they’d be right outside the room they were looking for? Bloodcurdling screams came from inside the room. Monitors and machines alarmed and beeped wildly. The surprised agents were put down swiftly.
Steve and Bucky charged into the room with their shoulders to the door. The doctor frowned and stabbed the scalpel into Jen’s lower abdomen and drew it across. She shrieked and jerked on the restraints, her body bowed.
Bucky waded through the medical staff. Without hesitation, he picked up a sharp bone handsaw and shoved it up under the doctor’s chin and into his brain. Steve knocked the staff that resisted unconscious. Blood poured from Jen’s wound.
“Steve, you were a better field medic.” Bucky rummaged through the drawers to find needle and thread. Steve snatched it out of the air and began to sew while Bucky guarded the door.
“Nat, we need emergency evac now. They tried to take the babies. She’s losing a lot of blood.”
“You got it, Capt. You hear that, Fury?”
“Headed your way, Capt.”
“We can’t fight our way back out.”
“That is no problem.” Colossus and Natasha stepped into the room. With his shining exoskeleton in place, his fear and sadness for his friend were hidden.
“How you reckon that, big guy?”
“That wall connects to an empty room and beyond that is a cliff.”
“How do you know that?”
“I threatened to crush little man’s skull if he didn’t tell me the immediate layout. So I make hole. You jump with Jenny to evac. Spider Queen and I finish our date.”
Steve raised an eyebrow and Nat shrugged, smirking. “We got this. You get her out.”
Colossus disappeared through the doorway, followed by a loud boom. The citadel shuddered around them. Jen’s bloody fingers touched face. “Stevie?”
His hand closed around hers. “I’m here, baby.”
“I didn’t give them anything. I was a good girl.”
“You did great, baby. Now, we gotta get you out of here. Save your strength.”
“I love you, Stevie.”
“Just hang on, baby.”
Her head lolled off his arm as she turned to find Bucky. “James…” He turned around. Again, her bloodied fingers touched his face. “I tried to protect the babies.”
“I know you did.”
“I love you, fucker…”
“Cagney, stop saying goodbye.”
Colossus’s silver head poked through the door. “Chopper is here. You go now.”
Sam cut through on the coms. “Tony’s helping with air support, guys. But they’re crawling out of the woodwork. We gotta go!”
“Let’s get a move on, old timers. Hydra does not want to part with the munchkins or momma.”
Buck jumped first. He steadied himself at the door and held out his hand. Steve looked down at Jen. Her skin felt cool and clammy and had gone a grey, blue color. Her breath wheezed in her chest and the normal thunder of her blood in his ears when they were this close had gone weak and thready. The sheet he’d wrapped her in had soaked through and began to drip on the floor. He trusted the he’d make the chopper’s door, that if he didn’t, there was Buck. Bucky held out his metal arm and caught them both.

Chapter 16: Reunited pt 1

Chapter Text

Steve stood on the other side of the glass. He watched helplessly as S.H.I.E.L.D. medical staff performed the double cesarean then repaired the damage Dr. Krieg had done to Jen’s lower abdomen, removing a kidney in the process. Thankfully, he hadn’t damaged her lower intestine. Bucky sat at Steve’s feet, his knees drawn up with his balled up fists covering his face.
At first, neither baby cried. Their color worried the medical staff and the fathers that watched from the other side of the glass. Then they both began to cry and it almost sounded like they were communicating. Medical assistants cleaned the babies up and took their vitals then put them under warming lights. The crying calmed to cooing but still sounded like communicating.
A nurse exited the medical theater then emerged into the hallway. “Are you the father?”
“Fathers and yes, we both are.”
“Come on back. We’ll get you gowned up and you can go in and see the babies.”
“What about Jen?”
“I’m afraid we can’t let you see her quite yet.”
“Why? What’s wrong?”
“She’s right there. What do you mean you can’t let us see her?”
“Please, Dr. Krieg did a great deal of damage to soft tissue and muscle. They’re trying to make sure that he didn’t perforate her intestine or damage any other organs. Now, do you want to see your children or not?” The nurse placed her hands on her hips and leveled the heroes with an impatient glare.
“Yes, yes, of course.”
“Follow me then.”
The nurse made them strip, shower off sweat, dirt and debris and put on a pair of surgical scrubs. She gave them gowns to pull on then led them to a makeshift nursery.
“S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn’t equipped to handle newborns. This was thrown together as soon as you were in enroute.” Bucky and Steve stood at the foot of a pair of infant warmers. “We ask that you not hold the babies for long periods of time until they can maintain their body temperatures for longer than a few minutes.”
Bucky was the first to reach for one of the tiny bundles. A small snuffling creature in a pink beanie. Her shock of dark hair was visible underneath. His arm supported her back and cradled her head in the crook of his elbow. She looked up at him with her mother’s eyes. “Ecaterina.” Then he began to cry.
Steve laid his hand on Bucky’s shoulder for a moment before picking up the second bundle. The tiny bundle kicked loose its swaddle and brushed off his little blue beanie. Steve put it back on one-handed and the baby brushed it off again. “Listen, son, you best leave that hat on. Daddy needs you to stay warm.” Again, Steve put the hat on one-handed. The baby brought his hand up to brush it off a third time and grabbed Steve’s thumb.
“Capt, we’re moving Ms. Cagney into recovery. Once she’s stable, we’ll put her and the babies in the same room.”
“That room gets restricted access. We have no idea if the super soldier serum will continue to effect Jen or if it’ll dissipate now that the babies have been born. And with the lengths that Hydra went to to kidnap and hide then defend these babies, we need extra guards on them.”
“There’s a list of volunteers. Fury’s going through the list now. Until then, you’ve got Sam, Tony and Wanda.” A pair of rocking chairs were pulled up between the beds.
As one, Steve and Bucky sat down and began to rock. “I never thought we’d be rocking in chairs together holding our kids.”
“Grandkids maybe…”
“Then we both died.”
Steve laughed. “There is that.”
“Do the babies have names, Captain Rogers?”
Steve looked at Bucky. “We had settled on a name before Hydra attacked.” He looked down at his daughter. “Ecaterina Natalia Barnes.”
The nurse scribbled it down. “And for the boy, sir?”
“Joseph James Rogers.” Bucky looked down at his daughter in his arms to keep the tears in his eyes from being seen.
“Alright, blood type should be back shortly. There’s been some other tests ordered by Director Fury regarding the special status of both of you, as well as paternity. There’s a rush order on everything, again due to your special status and the extenuating circumstances surrounding the pregnancy.”
“I figured as much.”
“I’ll leave you four alone before you’ll have to put the babies back under the warmers.” Steve looked at Buck, who finally controlled his tears. Even though they had the babies and Jen back, they weren’t out of the woods yet. Both men, both fathers knew their battle had just begun.

Chapter 17: Reunited pt 2

Chapter Text

Steve turned to the footsteps that walked cautiously up to him. He nodded at Barton then turned back to the glass. The twins were getting sponge baths and not having any of it. If he hadn’t been worried about their mother, it would have been comical. Each baby took three nurses and even then they were still having a time. Water had spilled onto the floor and the nurses kept slipping. The serum in their paternal chromosomes had altered the children. But being only a day old, there was no telling how they were affected.
“Hey Capt, how you doing?” Steve sighed. “Listen, here’s some fatherly advice.” Steve gave Barton his full attention. “This business isn’t meant for children. They’re pawns or collateral. Get them out of here. And Cagney too. Have Fury set up what he did for my wife and kids.”
“I hadn’t thought much past getting them back alive.”
“Hydra’s not gonna stop, man. You have to get them out of the city and wiped from S.H.I.EL.D.”
That made sense. “How do you do it?”
Barton shoved his fingers through his hair. “It’s hard. I spend more time away from them than I do with them. But they know I’m doing the right thing. You won’t be there every day, but it’s better than Hydra hounding them. It’s just a thought.” Barton clapped his shoulder then continued on his way down the hall.
When Ecaterina and Joseph were swaddled and back in their warming beds, he shoved his hands into his pockets and went the opposite direction of Barton. He didn’t knock before slowly pushing the door open. Bucky didn’t look up from where his head lay on Jen’s thigh. The monitors beeped, keeping constant track of her vitals. Dark circles looked like bruises under her eyes. Hell, for all he knew, they could be bruises.
“Any change?”
“She curled her fingers around mine. How are the babies?”
“Feisty, they’ll be in here before too long.”
“Good, I need a bit of fresh air.”
“Go for a run. I’ll call you if she wakes up.”
The door opened and the nurses wheeled in the newborn beds. Steve and Bucky both watched the nurses settle the beds against the wall alongside Jen’s hospital bed. They missed the hitch in Jen’s chest and her eyes fluttering open. Her hand spasmed in Bucky’s.
He looked to her. Steve caught the motion and turned to Jen. Her eyes were wide. “My babies…”
“Jen, it’s ok. They’re fine.”
The monitors alarmed wildly. Nursing staff rushed into the room and the men were shunted against the wall until Jen was stabilized. That involved sedating her again. Steve held one hand, Bucky held the other. Both men and both babies again waited for her to awaken.

Chapter 18: Tough Choices

Chapter Text

Jen watched the babies kick and coo from her hospital bed. The second time she’d woken up hadn’t been as traumatic. Bucky had held her left hand and Steve had held her right. Then Steve had calmly explained what happened then she’d gotten to hold her children. With the amount of medication she was one, she wasn’t able to breastfeed. After her initial cry, she realized it was for the better for her and her children. She’d still be able to bond with them during feedings.
Bucky stood in the doorway, slightly out of breath from his run. He drained a bottle of water then went to Ecaterina’s bed. He kissed her forehead first then he kissed Joseph’s. Jen smoothed the blankets over her belly gently.
“While you two were off blowing off steam, the doctor brought the paternity results.” She handed a printout of lab results to Steve.
“What is this?”
“DNA markers. It says biologically, you are Joseph’s father and James is Ecaterina’s. Which is what we expected and what the birth certificates will say.”
“Wait.”
Bucky looked at Steve and Jen looked horrified. “Wait? Wait for what? Why?”
“Barton made a good point. If we’re on the birth certificates, they can be tracked.”
“Steve, they know everything about all of us. If they want to find us, they’ll find us.”
“Not if they think you and the children died.”
“Whoa, Steve.” Bucky laid a hand on his shoulder.
“I don’t like this.”
“Just hear me out. We institute restricted access to you and the children, effective immediately. Then we make it look like you died post-op. Dr. Krieg nearly eviscerated you, for Christ sake.”
“I don’t need the reminder, Steve.” She had a reminder in the jagged scar across her lower abdomen. The S.H.I.E.L.D doctor had tried to repair the damage but it still looked viscous and ugly.
“You don’t think this is hard on me? Not being with the woman I love and my son? And our daughter?”
“Steve’s right, Cagney.”
“You, of all people, James?”
“Which is why I’m saying you and the babies need to disappear. Hydra will never stop looking for you. Even if they have to kill you to get your corpse. Dead bodies don’t resist.”
Jen looked down at her hands as she twisted the sheet. “Will we ever see each other?”
“Of course, baby.” He grabbed her hands and brought them to his lips. Bucky looked from his best friend to the woman he loved. “We’ll work out logistics.”
“Baby, it’s the only way to keep you safe.” Jen pulled her hands back and closed her eyes as she turned away from Steve and Bucky. They shared a look and the both of them left her to rest and to think.

*Sir, the mother died in surgery after they took the children in an emergency caesarean.*
*She’s not what was important. Those babies are a valuable asset. We might not need the serum after all.*
*And how do you suggest we acquire the children?*
*Baby Rogers and Baby Barnes aren’t the only infants we can experiment off of.*
*Um…sir?*
*Plants, perhaps? In times of grief, men hide their emotions within in their base needs and desires. Sex, drugs, alcohol. Drugs nor alcohol effect Captain American nor the Winter Soldier, so our best bet is sex. And since Rogers and Barnes came from the pre-condom era, if we can get them to have unprotected sex with female Hydra agents, we can use the resulting pregnancies for experimentation.*

Chapter 19: Escape

Chapter Text

“In tragic news out of Manhattan, a medivac chopper transporting two newborns to an upstate children’s hospital crashed into a shipping yard south of the Brooklyn Bridge. The crash is under investigation by several state and federal agencies at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families.”
Jen looked out over the city through one of the only windows that hadn’t been busted through and boarded over. She’d spent the last week since her funeral packing up the penthouse of the more personal items of her life. Steve and Buck would pack the rest up. Her eyes itched with tears and from the experimental surgery that changed the color of her eyes.
Everyone out there now thought she and her children were dead. It was a small blessing that her grandfather had passed while she’d been held captive by Hydra. This tragedy didn’t touch him, even if it was false. Steve had made sure her grandfather got a good send off. She looked away from the afternoon sunshine. Boxes littered the penthouse and she had to navigate carefully to the bathroom.
A stranger stared out of the mirror at her. They’d chopped and bleached her hair and turned her brown eyes green. It caught her off guard every time. They assured her that she’d get used to it but once they were in hiding, she was not keeping this blonde. Jen tilted her head back and put the drops in her eyes.
“Anyone here?”
“Back here, Clint!”
Jen poked her head out of the bathroom. “Oh good, I thought you’d gone back to headquarters.”
“Nope, I wanted to get most of the packing done before transport left tomorrow.”
“I’ll help.”
“Thanks, Clint.”
“And I brought lunch.” He set a couple unmarked take-out sacs on the counter. “I hope you don’t hate me.”
“Why would I hate you?”
“Because this was my idea.”
“I don’t hate you. It’s just…a lot to handle. Motherhood, new eyes, new hair, new home. And I’ll be doing most of it alone.”
“As far as S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra are concerned, Rogers and Barnes are on indefinite bereavement leave.”
“So who am I?”
“No one and we’re keeping it that way.”
Jen sighed and shoved a greasy fry into her mouth. “Fantastic. It’s high school all over again.” Clint couldn’t help but laugh. Jen half smiled. The pair ate in comfortable silence then packed all through the night, dancing around the penthouse to 80s music.

Bucky watched the penthouse from the building across the alley. He tapped the com. “Hawk and Peahen secure. Over.”
“Roger, Winter.”
When the sun rose over the horizon, he descended in the elevator. The picture of nonchalance, he walked in the opposite direction of the building, down two blocks and over three. He grabbed four coffees at a café he knew Jen liked and some bagels. When he was sure he didn’t have a tail, he headed back to the building.
The elevator doors slid open to the sound of the shower then the sink running. Barton leaned against the counter, sipping the blackest corrosive shit coffee ever known to man. He nodded to Bucky. “She’s just getting out of the shower.”
“Any sign of trouble?”
“Not a peep. I don’t want to jinx us but I think they bought the ruse.”
“Good, I don’t think any of us can take much more.”
“When does transport leave?”
“We’re meeting Nat at the mall in an hour. She’ll have the babies and Steve with her.”
“Sam going to be eyes in the sky?”
“No, he’ll be feet on the ground.”
Jen emerged from the bathroom. When Bucky met her eyes, he saw the tension wash from her. She ran across the room and threw her arms around his shoulders. His arms held her waist tight. He closed his eyes and breathed in her smell. Neither paid Clint or their tears any attention.

Jen, Bucky and Clint pulled up to the designated meeting spot. They were all on high alert and radio silence. The delivery van for the floral shop that they sat in front pulled up. The driver looked up after putting the van in park and caught Jen’s searching eyes. She gasped and tried to clamp down on the tears that sprung to her eyes. Steve smiled and tugged the brim of his ball cap.
“Let’s go. And remember to remain calm and act as normal as possible.”
Jen opened the back door and stood up, stretching her back. Bucky looked over the roof of the car. “What? We’ve been in the car forever.”
“Enticing your boyfriends in a critical moment is a distraction.”
“Friends?” Clint nodded to Steve who grinned at being caught ogling the woman he loved. “Oh.” She grinned then giggled. “You said normal.” He rolled his eyes. They popped the trunk and unloaded the bags and a couple unmarked cardboard boxes.
The backdoors opened from the inside and Nat jumped out in a khaki one piece worksuit. “Just put that junk behind the rest of the orders and climb in the back seat. We’ve got lots of stops to make and not a lot of time to do it.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Hustle it up then.” The three of them scrambled to load their cargo into the back of the van. Nat slammed the doors with more force than necessary. She casually glanced over her shoulder, checking for any observers. All clear.
Jen twisted her hands, aching to touch Steve as they pulled out of the parking lot and into street traffic. “Nat, where are they?”
“Just stay calm. Let’s get out of the city before we do some tear jerking reunion.”
They followed a weaving and confusing ‘delivery route’ on surface streets before pulling onto the interstate and heading out the city. Those who were trained to keep their eyes moving began to relax the further out of the city they got until the van pulled into a familiar rest stop.
Steve calmly put the van in park then turned in the seat. He leaned back and grabbed Jen around the back of the neck and pulled her into a passionate, overwhelming kiss. He pressed his forehead against hers but brushed his lips back and forth across hers. “I missed you.”
“Like whoa.”
He grinned. “Look behind the seat.” His hand fell away and she whipped around. At first she could only see flowers. Then as she began to move them out of the way, she found her little ones secured in infant carriers, sleeping peacefully.
“Can I hold them?”
“Not yet. We’ve got a ways to go and we’ll have to change the decal on the van before we stop. We weren't followed but it’s best to err on the side of caution. We don’t want all this work to go tits up because we got ahead of ourselves.”
“Right. Right. Can I at least sit back there?”
“If you can make room.”
“Oh I’ll make room.” Bucky grinned at Steve in the rearview mirror as Jen climbed over seat, squawking as she knocked over arrangements and got cold water spilled on her for her efforts. She might look different, but she was still the woman they loved.

Chapter 20: Happy ending

Chapter Text

“Oh shit! Look out!” Jen yelled then landed on the top stair on her butt. The loveseat hit the hardwood with a loud smack and thumped down the stairs to the landing. Bucky stopped it with one hand.
“I told you to wait for me.”
“So I don’t take direction very well.”
“You know, Steve and I could have gotten this no problem.”
Jen brushed a stray hair from her face. “Well, I thought I could do it by myself. Who would’ve guessed the serum metabolized out of my blood at that exact moment.”
The screen door slammed behind Steve. His chest rose and fell in a rapid pant. “What’s wrong? Everyone ok?”
“We’re fine, Steve. Cagney tried to take the loveseat upstairs by herself.”
“Jen, you know the doctors said to take it easy for the next month or so.”
“Yes, but they also said I was healed. I just needed to listen to my body and not push it to do too much.” She climbed over the railing and dropped to the floor. Steve darted forward and caught her.
“Are you crazy?”
She grinned and laid her hands on his shoulders. “Maybe I just wanted my man to catch me.”
“Oh is that it?” She nodded. He returned her grin and leaned in, kissing her eagerly. She breathed deeply through her nose and held her body tighter against him.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get the loveseat.”
“Thank you, James.” She tilted her head back to look up and Steve began to kiss and nibble her neck. “I’ll give you your kiss when you get that loveseat up in the master bedroom.”
“Bribery.” He rolled his eyes, but he was grinning as he effortlessly lifted the piece of furniture with his metal arm and carried it up the stairs.
“Steve. Stevie.” His mouth and hands became more insistent. “The babies are awake.” He sighed and set her on her feet, stealing one last kiss before she disappeared through an archway.
Speaking of the cute, little buggers. She checked to make sure the sliding glass door was locked then checked the side by side bassinets. Her dark headed daddy’s girl had found her feet and was folded in half again, chewing on the toe of her sleeper. She smiled toothlessly at her mother. “What’s my little kitty cat doing? Are you getting your toes again?” She smiled wider and kicked.
The babies were advanced, doing things at 3 months that they shouldn’t be able to do until they were six or even eight months. It wasn’t anything that would get much attention from a pediatrician but enough to comment on. Joseph, Jojo for short, slept peacefully with his arms above his head. She felt an arm circle her waist and one circle her shoulder. She turned to Bucky first and kissed his neck then his lips when he turned. He reached up with his own hand and lightly touched her chin as he drew the kiss out.
Three parents smiled down on two babies. Things would be rough going until they got into a routine. They would be in constant contact. The men would come together most of the time, but they knew there would be times where they couldn’t. But this would work. It had to. Or else Jen and the babies would be on the run for the rest of their lives and they’d never see each other again. Jen had everything she’d ever wanted and even some she didn’t know she wanted. What more could she ask for?
