Narrator's POV
It is now New Year's Eve, and Hyunjin and Felix are sat on top of a hill in Sydney. It's almost midnight of New Year's Day, and they're waiting for the fireworks to illuminate the sky. Hyunjin has a pair of tight jeans hugging his legs and a hoodie to fight the December cold, and Felix has a huge purple sweater that gives him sweater paws with some leather pants. Hyunjin loves that sweater because it makes Felix look so small and adorable.
Felix checks his phone and smiles. "There's only a minute now, Jinnie. I'm so excited." He says with a giggle. Hyunjin bit back his nerves and smiled back, one hand holding the item in his hoodie pocket.
Before they know it, they hear the people around them, once talking amongst themselves, start counting down from ten.
"Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven!" They chant. People begin to embrace, or pull their phones out for a video as the clock strikes midnight. Felix grabs Hyunjin's hand and smiles wider before joining in with the counting. Hyunjin squeezes his hand gently and clasps the box in his pocket tighter with his right hand. He also joins in the counting with Felix, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves bubble up in his body like soda.
"Six! Five! Four!" Hyunjin takes a deep breath and doesn't join in with the last three counts, his words getting caught in his throat.
He can do this.
Felix lets go of Hyunjin's hand and stands up for the last three numbers, clearly really excited for the new year. Hyunjin stays sat on the floor and discreetly pulls the box out of his pocket, opening it up to reveal a beautiful silver band.
"Three! Two! One!!! Happy new year!!!" Everyone including Felix shouts, and Felix turns to Hyunjin on the floor, only to gasp and stumble backwards in shock.
Hyunjin is on one knee, smiling up at Felix through a bucket of nerves, holding a small red suede box with the silver ring inside.
"Lee Felix, I love you so much. My new year's resolution for this year is to spend another year with you, so why not start early? Will you make me the happiest man in the world and become a Hwang?"
...
"Felix, will you marry me?"
Felix begins crying, the radiant smile on his face contrasting the tears sliding down his face like a waterfall. He reaches down to Hyunjin and pulls him into a hug, tightly squeezing the man with the box.
"Yes, Hyunjin!! Yes I will!!"
