Chapter Text
Megumi stands there, rigid, like stone carved into the shape of a man. His jaw is locked, his chest heaving, and for a fleeting instant it looks as if he might yield—if only to exhaustion. But then his mouth curls, sharp and cruel, and he turns that blade directly on her.
“You want to know your problem?” he taunts, stepping closer, voice low, cutting. “You mistake your tantrums for strength. You think your fire makes you untouchable. But all it does is make you reckless. Pathetic. All it does is let me know how naive and stupid you can be…and I am tired of being on the receiving end of it. You mistook me for something substantial? I have always known who I am and I have never shied away from it but you? You think your kindness makes you stronger, it doesn't. You think your love makes you bra e. It doesn't. All you are Nobara, is a product of two failed parents and an unambitious life. You could have been known for so much more but unfortunately…this is all you’ll ever be.”
The words hang like a lash across her skin.
Without another glance, he strips out of his shirt, each movement deliberate, disdain dripping from the way he tosses the fabric to the floor. He climbs into the bed with a finality that feels like exile, dragging the covers halfway over himself as though to bar her from even existing in his world.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he throws over his shoulder, voice thick with warning. “Don’t even think about calling for help. You can’t imagine the things I could do if you tried me.”
