Work Text:
Boyfriend groaned, pressing his couch pillows to his ears at the music that was somehow loud enough to leak out of the fucking sound room.
This was, what, the THIRD time in just this week alone that Soul had blasted BI-NB at the highest volume that all of the speakers in there could handle?
Yeah, BF was really starting to regret showing him all the songs that he had done with Sunday so long ago.
Then again, he could understand why he had latched onto them - especially the one he was playing now - so quickly.
First of all, Sunday IS a guitarist. Obvious.
And second, they're both bi.
Well, it was more like the fact that BF being bi meant that, by extension, Soul was ALSO bi. They were in a sense the same person, so it worked. (BF was also sure that Soul had the vibe to fit with the non-binary part of the song title, but he never himself stated that he WAS enby, and Boyfriend didn't want to assume, so he just left it to his thoughts to sort that out.)
So sure, BF was annoyed, but he couldn't really bring himself to actually be MAD at Soul for this.
........And then he heard Soul start playing guitar along with the track, which was the expected part. Except that amp was VERY CLEARLY TURNED UP TO MAX TOO.
He was sure the entire building was shaking at this point, and he didn't understand why no one had barged in to register a noise complaint yet. This HAD to be super disruptive for SOMEONE, if not him.
Boyfriend groaned again, practically pushing his face into the pillows now.
This was never going to end.
...
Boyfriend let out a sigh as the sound of Girlfriend knocking on Carol's front door pulled him out of his flashback.
That was 4 months ago.
And it was the whole reason why he was so grateful that Soul had actually fallen asleep right before GF came to pick BF up.
Guess actually staying up super late had actually paid off for once.
Now BF had to hope that he didn't end up falling asleep too.
Ever since Girlfriend had texted him about going to visit Carol and Sunday again a few days ago, he had consistently managed to keep Soul from finding out about it - because he was WELL aware of the chaos that would likely ensue if he did find out.
And despite how much he loved GF, he wasn't sure if she fully realized the absolute insanity that would occur if Soul had came along for the ride.
The front door opened after a few more seconds, Carol appearing on the other side of it.
"Heyyyy, girl!"
"Heyyy!"
"Glad you two could make it! It's been a while since I saw you. What's been going on?"
Girlfriend quickly glanced at Boyfriend, then just as quickly looked back at Carol.
"Ah, nothing much, really...!"
"...Hm. Well, come on in and make yourselves at home. Just be careful, though, Sunday's asleep right now."
"Really? Again? It's only 2 o'clock!"
"Yeahhhhhh, they'll wake up eventually. Wanna rewatch Hamilton while they're still asleep?"
"Ooh, I'd love to!"
Boyfriend followed behind the two, taking a quick glance at the person sleeping on the couch nearby before he heard Carol call his name.
"Boyfriend! You wanna come watch with us? I don't think she's going to wake up for a while."
Well, if the two people that he didn't want to be interacting were both asleep, then there was no harm in watching a rather epic musical with GF and Carol, right?
...They were both asleep, right?
"Yeah, sure, why not?"
The three entered the next room, and Boyfriend took one last glance behind him before he closed the door.
...And just a few seconds afterwards, a small white light suddenly flashed in the now-empty room, quickly fading as Soul - guitar strapped to his back and all - appeared in its place a second later.
He listened for any sign that Boyfriend (or anyone else for that matter) was about to open the door, only to hear the start of Hamilton through it, and he smirked.
Good to know that his little plan to fake falling asleep and fool BF had actually worked.
Now he just had to hope that BF wouldn't notice he was missing...
He let out a quiet chuckle, slightly muttering to himself in amusement as he walked away from the door.
"Can't believe he actually fell for that..."
However, mid-sentence he turned around, and once he stopped speaking, he also stopped in his tracks.
Because Sunday had apparently woken up in the 30 seconds that he had shown up, and was now looking at him (yet only slightly surprised).
The two just stared at each other for a bit.
".....Soooo... why exactly do you look like GF's boyfriend?"
Oh. Okay, that reaction wasn't as bad as he thought it'd be.
"...Well, becaaaaaause I AM him! Okay- technically I'm actually supposed to be his soul..."
She nodded, a small smile appearing on her face.
"...Cool."
Well, they were being surprisingly chill about this. He at least appreciated that.
"...So should I just tell BF to come get you, or-?"
"Nah, I can't let him find out that I'm out here. I was just hoping I could ask you for a rap battle without him knowing."
Sunday finally noticed the guitar strapped on his back, and they smiled, standing up with their blanket still around them.
"Garage in 5. I'll see you there."
Soul returned her smile as she walked out of the room.
Meanwhile, the other three were still sitting in front of Carol's TV, continuing to watch the ever-beloved musical.
......They had only gotten about two minutes into "My Shot" before the familiar sounds of a guitar rang throughout the house, and Carol groaned in annoyance.
"Seriously, Sunday? Again? While we have friends over..."
"We can still watch! Just turn the volume up."
"I know, Gi. It'd still be nicer to watch this without all that music though."
However, as Carol raised the volume on the TV, Boyfriend had listened a little closer to the noise coming from outside the room.
And he realized that there was no fucking way that one singular guitar, even SUNDAY'S, could generate that much sound.
He could've nervously laughed.
There was no way! Soul was still asleep... wasn't he?
And then he finally recognized the tune that was currently being played.
It was BI-NB.
...Oh, GOD no.
Realizing that the noise was still very audible and distracting despite the loudness of her TV, Carol sighed.
"I'm just gonna go ask them to turn it down."
But the second she began to stand, Boyfriend sprung up from where he was sitting, walking towards the door out himself.
"Nononono, it's fine, I can go do that! You guys watch your musical."
Carol paused for a moment, and then smiled.
"Alright! Just try not to take too long. You're going to miss the best part."
"I won't!"
Boyfriend shut the door, and then quickly sprinted over to the garage.
And just as expected, both Soul and Sunday were there, rocking out on their guitars.
BF just sighed and shut the door behind him - which was somehow loud enough to get the duo's attention, and they stopped playing.
A sheepish, nervous smile quickly appeared on Soul's face, while Sunday gave him a wave.
"Ehehe... Hi, Bee..."
"...Okay, it's not that I'm mad, it's just- dude, I thought you were sleeping."
"Maybe you should check next time instead of assuming, dummy."
"Oh, ha, ha. Very funny."
BF had to admit, given that the two were just rocking out and nothing else, it was rather amusing.
You know, since he imagined much worse.
"...Wait, so did you really fake being asleep??"
"Maybe, maybe not."
"When did you come out here, then?????"
Soul snickered at that.
"Right after you left the room with Carol and Gigi."
"Really? That quickly?"
"Yep."
"Dork."
"You first."
"Oh, shut up. At least I'm not the one who played BI-NB four times in a week right after I showed you all of Sunday's songs, dude."
"I- So what? It's a good track!"
Boyfriend saw Sunday's eyes widen a bit in realization.
"Ohhhhhhh, so that's why that was one of the songs you wanted to play."
"Right, because he's a fanboy."
"Am not."
"Yes. Yes you are, my friend."
"Right, and you certainly DIDN'T believe that me and Sunday meeting was going to be the end of the fucking world."
"Dude, do you realize how CHAOTIC I thought you two would be?! YOU BOTH LITERALLY SPAM RIFF GUITARS."
"Oh, no, we totally could've blown up the house if we wanted. Buuuuuut I didn't want him to get caught."
Boyfriend blinked.
As considerate as Sunday was for that, this whole thing probably meant that he was never going to escape these two interacting again. Ever.
"I will never stop questioning how you got along so well with my own soul so quickly."
"It's the power of rock, Bee."
"Shut it."
"Well, the power of rock freed you from corruption, didn't it?"
"I- You told them the whole story???"
Soul laughed a bit, holding up his guitar and waving it slightly as he spoke again.
"I did a little more than that."
"Alright, so a dork and a fanboy. Is there a word combo I can make for that?~"
"SHUT-"
The three flinched once they heard Carol and Girlfriend's voices faintly on the other side of the door.
"Boyfriend, come on! What's taking you so long?"
"Yeah, babe! We even decided to pause the song for you! We didn't want you to miss anything!"
Boyfriend then nudged Soul slightly, giving him a fixed look. He took the hint and teleported back into his mind, right before Carol opened the door.
"...What exactly have you been doing? We heard all the guitar stop a while ago."
"Oh, well, you know, just catching up and stuff! Haven't seen Sunday in a while, you know..."
"Hmm... Alright. We're willing to keep the musical paused for another 5 minutes. Try not to stay too long, or we'll leave you to miss all the cool stuff."
Boyfriend nodded, and Carol closed the door. Once it sounded like she was far enough away, Boyfriend and Sunday both let out a sigh.
"You didn't tell me that your own soul was a rockstar."
"I know, it's weird. He's actually somewhat better than me and I'm a little jealous."
He groaned slightly when he heard an "I KNEW IT" come from inside his head. Seemed like the screen was on in there and Soul could hear both of them still.
"Well, come by some other time. I could probably help you one-up him a little."
Boyfriend snickered as he heard Soul start to semi-jokingly complain about the apparent betrayal.
"Sure, I'd like that. But also... can you maybe not tell Carol? There's only a certain few people who actually know about Soul, and we both kind of wanted to keep it that way. Shit's been happening and we're a bit on edge, but that's not the entire reason."
Sunday took the cue not to press, and she just held up a thumbs-up.
"No worries. I gotcha."
"Thanks."
"......Is there any specific reason why you two act so much like siblings?"
"Yeahhhh, we get that a lot. That dynamic just kind of grew on its own. Maybe because we're almost the same person but not really? It's hard to explain."
Sunday just gave a hum that time, before putting their guitar on its guitar stand and picking up the blanket from the floor, wrapping it around themselves.
"Well, have fun watching that weird musical. I'm going back to sleep."
"Alright, get some rest."
Sunday left the room, and Boyfriend stood there for a few extra seconds.
"...So what were you two doing besides just playing guitar? We were sitting there watching the musical for like several minutes, and even I know that BI-NB is not that long."
Soul popped out from his mind, now floating next to him.
"Well, we kind of just talked at first for a while. They wanted to know how I got here, then the whole backstory, how I knew about them, all that shit."
Boyfriend hummed in response, before pausing.
"...What else did you show them?"
"Eh, not much actually. They just asked for the Neuroses solo. Buuuuuuuut in return, they did let me listen to one of their band's upcoming tracks..."
"What?! Let me hear it!"
"You'll get to hear it when it releases, silly. Now weren't we watching a musical?"
"Ughhhhhhhh, fine. Let's go."
Soul disappeared back into his mindscape as Boyfriend walked over to the door.
He sighed.
He was going to be hearing BI-NB a million times again at home after this, wasn't he?
