Tommy spit out blood. His breathing was ragged and sporadic. Blood poured out from the bottom of his mask. His sword in hand. At the end of his sword was Dream. The number one hero. He too was bloody.
The two were on a roof, the battle had lasted for hours. Tommy grated his teeth. He let out a hiss before he kicked Dream in the side.
"I told you that I would kill you." He let out a laugh but there was no joy. "How ironic is it?"
Tommy pushed his foot into Dream's chest. He let out a scream of pain.
"Was it fun?" Tommy ripped off his mask. It had no meaning anymore. Just like him. His mission was done. He fulfilled his purpose.
Dream didn't answer. Tommy kicked him again.
"Was it fun to torture me all day?"
Another kick.
"All in the name of becoming a hero."
Another kick.
"Was it fucking funny to you?!"
Tommy grabbed Dream by the collar and pulled him up.
"Did you ever regret it?" Tommy's voice wavered.
Dream smiled and laughed.
"No."
Tommy saw red.
–
"I'll kill you!" Tommy swung his sword Dream.
Dream was running away. Just like he always did.
"I'll kill you! Even if I have to walk through the depths of hell. I'll drag you down with me. I'll burn down the whole Hero Commission just to see you suffer!"
Tears flowed down Tommy's cheeks.
It was all for nothing. The pain he endured. The training….it was for nothing.
It was all worthless. Dream had broken him, he had taken from him. Dream had taken everything from Tommy that made him Tommy.
Was he even a person any more or was he a soulless body forced to walk the miserable earth?
It didn't matter anymore. Nothing did. Tommy left the Hero Commission, attacked Dream, and fled. It was just him and his powers now.
He looked down at his clawed hands. Bloodstained them. His wings drooped down behind him. The black feathers were messy and some were missing.
He would kill Dream if it was the last thing he did.
–
Tommy looked out into the setting sun. The sky slowly turned darker and darker with each minute. Stars slowly started appearing. He closed his eyes and just for a minute, he was at peace.
Just maybe in another life, he could live without bloodshed. But not in this one.
Tommy dropped Dream on the ground. He kneeled down near Dream's face.
"I told you I would kill you." Tommy let out a cold laugh.
Dreams' eyes widened, he was scared. It filled Tommy with joy.
"I told you I would go through hell to get you." Tommy picked up Dream and slowly walked towards the edge of the building. They were around 90 stories high.
Tommy let the tears flow freely down his face. He smiled one more time.
"Won't you go to hell with me?"
Tommy pushed Dream and himself off the building.
–
It felt freeing. He was no longer trapped. He let out a laugh as he plunged below. It was filled with joy.
