Summary
Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a humble country girl who works for her parent's bakery in 19th-century Paris, France, gets the opportunity to work in the stables for the Lord Adrien Agreste, a wealthy landowner with a generous heart. Marinette finally gets the chance to work with her beloved horses and spend all day with them. There's only one problem ruining her perfect dream: the name on the letter is addressed to her brother, Marquette. One long conversation with her parents later, Marinette travels to Adrien's house to employ herself as his new stable worker--under her brother's name and disguising herself as a man.
After a special moment with Adrien under a rain cloud and an umbrella, Marinette realizes that she's fallen in love with him and knows she has to tell him the truth about who she really is. Fate, however, has other plans, and Marinette and Adrien soon find themselves caught in a conspiracy that has already destroyed lives. Will Marinette risk her happy ending with Adrien if it means saving him and the horses? Or will she ignore destiny's pull on Adrien and turn her back on him, in order to clear her brother's stained name?
