Strictly Bats

Summary:

Morticia finally reveals just who she is to Gomez. He, naturally is over the moon - even though there are limits to her powers.

Notes:

Work Text:

She came from a very long line of lapsed vampires.

That’s what she told Gomez, and the notion so delighted him that his eyes sparkled and went bright. “Cracking! What a swell idea,” he said. “How are you still walking around in the daylight? Should we buy more umbrellas so you won’t burn?”

“Well, I’ve taken to nibbling on bloodworm. Same name, same principle, and now I can walk around in the daylight – though I have no idea why anyone would want to. I can’t stand the stuff. It makes me far too warm. The cold’s much more cheerful, you know,” she remarked, with a smile. But then she patted his hand. “And you really can’t tell the difference when you’re making it into a tea. Otherwise, I simply eat whatever the humans do.”

He promptly abandoned his own dinner and threw himself into her lap, “Well, that explains why Wednesday is so afraid of stakes! But Tish, can you do me a favor? Turn me into a creature of the night! Let’s fly into the world and perch up on a couple of graves and soak in the atmosphere like a couple of tourists!”

“I’d love to, darling – but I can’t turn into a bat,” she declared. “That’s a power I lost when I quit humans. Though I do wish we could. Transylvania’s lovely this time of year, and it would be a relief to fly there instead of having to pay a pilot.”

“Blast – well, I suppose it’s for the best. If we want to haunt a graveyard, all we have to do is walk outside!”

That was a good point. “We should go visit Cousin Emmertrade,” she said. Gomez hopped off of Morticia’s lap and offered her his hand. “Shall we?” he asked.

“Yes,” she smiled, and kissed his cheek. And they left their dinner to chill, walking arm-and-arm out into a roaring thunderstorm.
