Work Text:

To say that Reika was tired, was an understatement. She had to deal with some troublesome monsters’ hell bent on making the Northern Hemisphere their territory.

Not to mention it didn’t help that the area they claimed theirs also happened to be where the North base was. Of course, she rushed over with her brother to aid in the fight, after telling her wife not to worry as she'll return safely.

The battle was a tedious one, as if it weren’t for the last-minute assistance from a few other riders, Reika doubts they would have won so easily. Being as stubborn as she is fierce, Reika thought the few scratches she obtained as nothing to worry about as she hurried back home, not wanting to make her dearest anymore anxious about her return than she already probably is.

Reika opened the door to their living chambers, about to announce that she had returned when she heard a loud familiar giggling coming from the living room. Reika quietly took her coat and footwear off, before making her way over to peak in and see what was causing such laughter.

“Nu nu nu. Nu nu nu” Magine cooed as she rubbed her face gently against their daughter’s face, causing another fit of laughter. Reika’s heart melted at the scene as all the weight of exhaustion seemed to have been lifted from her body.

Reika leaned against the entrance of the living just watching the scene before her in pure bliss. As if fate was giving her a reason for why she must fight such difficult battle. It was so that she could protect these moments.

Their daughter, Juliana noticed Reika standing at the entrance, as she squealed and waved her arms at her mother. “Basa! Basa!” Juliana cried excitedly, wanting to be held by Reika. Magine turned around noticing their daughter call out to Reika.

“Welcome back. How did the- Reika your hurt!” Magine panicked as she stood up and quickly approached the swordsman. Reika could feel the kikainoid's hand brush against her face softly as she grimaced at the small cuts and bruises.

“All superficial injuries. I’m okay dearest” Reika said holding Magine’s hand against her cheek as she leaned into it. “Nu nu nu. You promised me you’d make it back safe” Magine said.

“And I made it back in one piece with no broken bones love. I’m not completely invincible” Reika said softly. “I know. I just worry about you” Magine said. “And I worry about you as well whenever you are called to action” Reika added softly kissing her wife’s palm as a sign of comfort.

Their daughter looked up at Reika noticing all the little cuts and bruises as she started to tear up. “Basa” she said sadly. Reika looked down noticing the tears welling up in her daughter’s eyes, as she scooped the baby out of Magine’s arms to comfort her.

“Basa’s fine little one. She just had a little trouble fighting off a few bad guys” Reika softly reassured the infant. “Basa’s very strong so she doesn’t get hurt easily, okay?” Magine added, hoping that her words helped comfort their daughter.

Juliana nodded before letting out a small yawn. Reika chuckles softly at this action as she felt the urge to yawn and doze off, however she fought the urge.

“Maybe it’s time you both had a nap” Magine said softly as she led pair toward the bedroom. “That sounds like a good idea my love” Reika agreed, her eyes beginning to droop, as all the exhaustion hit her at once.

As soon as the bed was in view, Reika laid herself onto the bed and passed out with her child in her arms. Not even bothering to get into the blankets. Magine just smiled at the scene as she tucked them both into the bed and kissed their heads.

Magine wouldn’t even trade this for anything in the world. And she was happy that fate allowed her to be blessed with such a wonderful family.
