Chapter Text
Hitoshi groans as his phone starts ringing, but the breaks in between tell him it’s not a phone call. So, he rolls over, intending on going back to sleep, until there’s a harsh banging on his wall.
Hitoshi glares at the wall by his bed through sleepy eyes and whines, “Why?”
But then he turns his attention to his phone, and he grabs it just as it buzzes yet again. The class chats are blowing up with messages, and it takes him a minute to scroll back to the one that started it all.
4:27 A.M. reads alongside a message from Vlad: There has been an incident regarding one of our students and one of Class A’s students in Fukuoka alongside Hawks. While the incident has been mostly handled, we will be canceling classes, and neither myself nor Aizawa will be on campus for the time being. Mic and Midnight will be available for any questions you may have regarding the situation, and Nezu will be emailing you all with a concise report on it, so you are aware of what your classmates have been involved in. No one leaves campus until you speak to me.
The chat is exploding with more messages, but Hitoshi’s eyes lock on the clock in the corner, 4:39.
“It’s too friggin’ early for this mess.” grumbles Hitoshi as he rolls to his back and starts reading through the mess of the chats.
He manages to read all of them before swapping over to read through his messages from Katsuki and Eijirou. He hadn’t responded the night before, so now he puts hearts on their messages and starts typing.
Only his typing is interrupted by a message from Eijirou that is quickly followed up by Katsuki.
Eijirou: Could we meet up for breakfast? To talk about everything?
Katsuki: That means I’m making the fucking breakfast, doesn’t it? I won’t come though, not unless you’re okay with it, Hitoshi.
Hitoshi stares at the words unseeingly for a moment, taken by surprise at how quickly Eijirou decided they should talk and how easily Katsuki was giving Hitoshi the choice of his involvement.
Hitoshi: We can, but if we do, then you both have to come because you two have an established relationship. That matters.
Katsuki: You being comfortable matters too, dumbass. If you don’t want me there, then I won’t be there.
Hitoshi: typing…
Eijirou: Don’t make him say no after he’s already said yes, Kats.
Hitoshi: typing…
Katsuki: Look, I don’t want to fuckin’ make him uncomfortable, and I already got involved where I fuckin’ shouldn’t by even agreeing to go on a date with you in the first place when I knew you had a soulmate.
Eijirou: typing…
Hitoshi: Okay, shut up.
Hitoshi: This is ridiculous. I’ve known who my soulmate was for ages, and I’m not mad about you two getting together, I already said it didn’t matter because I never planned to have anything to do with my soulmate. Trauma made that easy.
Hitoshi: But just as you don’t say shit you don’t mean, Katsuki Bakugou, I don’t either. I also don’t see a reason to lie, so when I said you needed to come too, I meant it. No more bullshit. You had feelings for Eijirou, and Eijirou had feelings for you. Now, you’ve been together a grip, and you’re a mushy couple that everyone loves, me included. My involvement will not ruin your relationship, and that’s because I won’t allow it to.
Hitoshi: I may be Eijirou’s soulmate by our marks, but we all know you’re his soulmate by heart. So, where are we meeting for breakfast, hopefully without getting ourselves into trouble or being surrounded by our classmates?
Eijirou: Damn, Hitoshi said it all and more… Uhhh, I was thinking we could meet on Class A’s dorm rooftop. Everyone else was supposed to be going back to sleep, so we would be able to keep it secluded and enjoy the sunrise at the same time!
Katsuki: Okay, at like 5:45? Sunrise starts at 6:15 today. Gives us about thirty minutes to eat and talk.
Hitoshi: Sounds like a plan, but I hope you know I’m just gonna be in sweats because it’s always cold in the morning.
Eijirou: Perfect! See you there then!
Hitoshi: See you two there.
Katsuki: Yep.
Hitoshi groans as he lets his phone fall to his chest, but then he’s up and moving. He doesn’t have that much time to get ready, maybe twenty-five minutes, and he still needs to shower, brush his teeth, and pick out his comfiest sweatpants outfit before scaling the Class A dorm.
He’s quick in the shower, and brushing his teeth, though he does ache to start some coffee even though he knows he doesn’t have the time for it. When it comes to picking out clothes, he knows what he wants to wear. It’s his black sweat outfit with big sweatpants that have cats along the legs, and the sweatshirt that has literal ears on the hood and green eyes and white whiskers on the chest. He wants to wear it, but he doesn’t want to get teased for it.
After careful deliberation, and knowing that he has exactly ten minutes to get to the rooftop, he decides to just put the outfit on, securely tying the strings before grabbing his capture weapon and going out his window. It takes a few minutes to get the weapon where he wants it, but then he’s swinging over and climbing the side of the Dorm building until he can pull himself over the edge and onto the cool concrete top. He unties his capture weapon from the stoop he’d used, eyes locked on the slow rise of the sun, orange and pink hues decorating the still mostly dark sky.
He jolts at the sound of a throat clearing, and he turns to find Katsuki smirking and holding an orange thermos and a picnic basket. He’s wearing a black sweatshirt that has an explosion on it with a pair of gray sweatpants.
“Sorry, we didn’t mean to startle you. Though you do look stunning, almost more so with the sunrise… Don’t you agree, Kats? He’s so pretty.” Eijirou’s voice is so filled with awe that Hitoshi’s shoulders lift to his ears, and he hides his face in his capture weapon as his cheeks burn harshly.
“Ei, we haven’t even had a proper conversation with him, and you’re already turning on the charm. Ignore his dumbass, well don’t ignore him, he’s not fuckin’ wrong, but just-look, I made breakfast, he has the blanket, and a thermos of coffee for you too. Let’s eat and fuckin’ talk about what comes next.” huffs Katsuki with an eye roll as he nudges Eijirou in the side and nods towards the center of the roof just in front of the stairwell room.
He finally takes Eijirou in, red sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt with UA written across the chest.
“Y-You uh- You just- Hi.” stutters Hitoshi before he spins right back around for a moment to just watch the colors shift on the sky. He takes a breath, then he turns back around. “I appreciate it, and that you both actually came up here.”
“I fuckin’ agreed to, didn’t I?” asks Katsuki as Eijirou moves and lays out the blanket.
“Well, yeah, but you didn’t initially seem to want to despite your own confession in our texts. I did read them, by the way.” says Hitoshi with his own half-smirk as Katsuki settles the picnic basket in the middle of the blanket.
“He was still hesitant, but I reminded him that this was his idea. Plus, he agreed to it when you asked. He doesn’t go back on his word, though I think today was the first time I ever thought he might.” adds Eijirou amusedly as he settles on the blanket, holding out the purple thermos to Hitoshi as Katsuki sits down next to him.
“Oh- I- I didn’t mean for you to force yourself to come here, Katsuki.” murmurs Hitoshi with a nervous tap of his fingers on the thermos as he takes it from Eijirou.
“You didn’t do shit. You asked me to come, and I fuckin’ agreed, so I’m here! Nobody forced my ass to come up here.” snaps Katsuki with a furrowed brow as he glares at him.
“Yeah, but if you were having second thoughts, then you didn’t have to come. Even if you agreed to it, Katsuki.” says Hitoshi seriously, guilt settling in the pit of his stomach like lead.
“Yeah, well, that’s not what the fuck it was. I just didn’t want to push myself where I didn’t fuckin’ belong. I already did that by being with Eijirou when we both knew I couldn’t be his soulmate.” replies Katsuki with an annoyed tone, though Hitoshi’s almost positive that it’s not aimed towards him.
“I thought I already told you that I may be his soulmate by our marks, but you’re his soulmate by heart. Katsuki, you didn’t put yourself where you didn’t belong. You put yourself where you belonged by taking a chance even when things could’ve gone so bad for you.” says Hitoshi softly, understanding in his tone though he also holds up a serious look as he looks between them. He gets this feeling, this urge to give him, them, an out. “I was happy for you two, beyond happy, my support was loud enough in my own class that Neito smacked me every time I commented on how sweet you two were to each other. Honestly, if you don’t want to do this, then let’s go our separate ways, no harm, no foul.”
“Woah, hold on a second, Hitoshi, I don’t think that’s-” starts Eijirou seriously as he looks at him.
“Fuckin’ shove that offer down your goddamn throat.” sneers Katsuki as he interrupts Eijirou, his palms sparking slightly as he looks at him. “I wanted to come here, and I wanted to be here. Look, I get it, I really fuckin’ do, but I said I was coming. I made that perfectly clear, and I don’t need a goddamn out. You support our relationship, right? Well, I’d like you to be included in the damn thing. So, let’s stop bullshitting and start talking about it dammit.”
“Hold on, now. I’m offering an out because I need you to know that if you don’t want to be here, then it’s done. I don’t want to cause trouble, nor do I want to mess with the relationship you’ve built.” says Hitoshi seriously as he glares at Katsuki before it melts as Katsuki snorts at him. He sips at his coffee for a moment, Eijirou looking between him and Katsuki, then he sets his thermos down and clears his throat. “I know that I think you’re both attractive, I know that I am interested in being part of your relationship, and I know that I want to be here. My only problem with all of that is that we don’t seem to be on the same page.”
“We are, Hitoshi. We are on the same page. Katsuki brought this up after we fought about how to handle this, and the two of us have talked extensively about it too. We want this to happen, and we want you to be a part of our relationship. Please, just- we don’t need an out, and we don’t want one.” says Eijirou softly, almost placating though that doesn’t feel like the right way to describe it as his eyes hold an almost pleading look.
“We are here because we fuckin’ want to be, and as far as I’m concerned, if you’re interested, we’re on the same goddamn page.” says Katsuki decisively before he picks up his own thermos and chugs at it.
“Okay, I hear you.” murmurs Hitoshi as he dips his head forward and sips at his thermos of coffee again. “If we’re on the same page, then… uh… then what- where do we go from here?”
“First, let’s eat some because the sun is already close to rising. Then we can talk about everything, and it’ll be easier to get it all out in the air.” says Katsuki with a sigh as he passes the bentos out. “I hope you enjoy the mini pancakes. I wasn’t gonna make ‘em but Eijirou said you fuckin’ like them.”
“I do, so thank you for that… Though I’m guessing you figured that out because of Denki because as far as I’m aware, I’ve kept that love hidden in my dorm outside of him.” says Hitoshi with furrowed brows as he turns to look at Eijirou who’s got a flush decorating his cheeks.
“I- well- Actually, I- I heard you telling Monoma that you had better get your pancakes for tutoring him ahead of the English test, and he said that was basically your only other addiction besides coffee.” says Eijirou sheepishly as he looks away, both hands cupping his thermos as he tries to avoid looking at Hitoshi.
“He may not have known you were his soulmate, but he did have a crush on you back in first year. We all teased him about it until he confessed that he liked me too… That was a fun ride, let me fuckin’ tell you. Though, I can’t deny, I was attracted to your stupid ass first year too. You had a shit ton of confidence coming up against me, and it was interesting to say the fucking least.” explains Katsuki as he chuckles, nudging Eijirou as he tells Hitoshi all about his and Eijirou’s crush ahead of them getting together. But then he’s drinking from his thermos, taking a bite, and continuing with an amused half-smirk as Eijirou groans into his own thermos. “Anyway, that was recent, but it wasn’t the first time he heard about your love of pancakes. Lunch Rush mentioned it one day ahead of lunch when we had breakfast for lunch during our first year. Said that there had to be extra pancakes for you because you enjoyed them so much, and apparently, it was hard to get them during your lunch hour. Not that surprising to be honest because it was practically a food fight on our end.”
“Ah, that tracks… Well, the last bit tracks, the crush or attraction, that’s surprising… Really surprising. I feel like it shouldn’t be though because it makes sense, but still.” replies Hitoshi after a moment of silence, and he snorts when Eijirou and Katsuki both look at him with disgruntled confusion written across their faces. So, he points at Katsuki and starts talking again. “You being attracted to confidence, no surprise there. Him being a sweetheart, that tracks too. You two dealing with a crush because of teasing from your friends, yeah, majorly tracks. But both are still surprising considering how unaware I was of it all. The only unsurprising part of that entire thing is about Lunch Rush because saving pancakes for me isn’t out of the norm at all.”
“Oh, that’s fuckin’ rich coming from you, asshole.” huffs Katsuki with an annoyed tone, but Hitoshi sees the way his ears are burning red as he turns away from him. “What the fuck ever. Let’s talk about your ass now.”
“He’s not meaning-” starts Eijirou with an almost fond panic, but after taking a bite, Hitoshi cuts him off, “Don’t worry, I know Blasty isn’t actually being a dick. He’s just still not used to people noticing things about him, which honestly, hurts me. How do you both not realize that people are constantly watching and noticing you because you’re both hot and sweet as all hell?”
“Well, it’s not that we don’t notice. We just- it’s not who we want to be noticed by, so we don’t pay it much mind.” replies Eijirou amusedly as he answers the question being asked while lifting his thermos to his lip before winking at Hitoshi and continuing. “Besides, none of them are actually brave enough to point out their observations to our faces, especially not to Kats’ face. You’re too brave for your own good, sometimes, I swear.”
“That is true, but also, we just don’t give a shit about people’s attention. We only wanted each other’s attention, so that’s all we paid attention to in that aspect. When we realized we also wanted you, and we discussed it, then we started paying attention to you as well.” adds Katsuki softly as he looks at Hitoshi, leaning forward on his crossed legs to catch Hitoshi’s eyes properly. Then he tilts his head to the side and a half-smirk curves his lips as he gets this look in his eye that Hitoshi knows as his chaos gremlin look. He knows that Katsuki is about to say something that is going to make his face go red. “Your observations are typically silent, just watchful eyes that make my skin crawl when there’s nothing else in your eyes. Sometimes you get this look, the only way I can describe it is wanting, but even that doesn’t feel quite right. But when you get that look, it’s just- it feels like I won something, which was a really fucking weird realization, just so you know.”
Hitoshi stares into red eyes, his own eyes blown wide, and his mouth parted in surprise as heat encases his face, then he turns to look at Eijirou. Only Eijirou is smiling softly, eyes glancing between Katsuki and Hitoshi with this fondness that has Hitoshi just straight up giving in. He carefully flops himself backwards off the blanket and covers his face with his capture weapon and hands.
“You’re the worst.” huffs Hitoshi, voice muffled by everything in the way as he shakes his head.
“And you’re the most adorable.” replies Eijirou, and Hitoshi can hear the grin in his voice.
“And Ei’s the sweetest.” finishes Katsuki with that tone that says he’s smirking because he knows he’s right.
Hitoshi uncovers his face by lifting his head, and he glares at them despite their proud looks. But then he gives up, groans his defeat, and sits up again.
“Alright, alright, can we be done with that now? I really can’t do the- the compliments or whatever?” asks Hitoshi seriously as he looks between them with hope that they can drop this now. “Where do we go from here?”
“Where do you want to go from here?” asks Eijirou with a tilt of his head, letting the subject change with a soft, understanding smile.
“He’s not gonna fuckin’ answer that.” huffs Katsuki knowingly as he shakes his head before turning to Hitoshi with a serious look in his eyes. “We want you to be our partner, both of us, and we want to get to know you properly, go on dates, and take this however fast or slow you want to take it. We both want you, but we’ve also decided that if you don’t want me, we will keep the relationship open for you."
“Thought I already told you that I wanted you both?” asks Hitoshi while arching a brow as he looks at Katsuki.
“We know, but we agreed to remind you of the option.” says Eijirou softly, almost sadly.
“It’s not an option. Either I’m involved with both of you, or I make myself your platonic soulmate. I refuse to screw up your relationship.” replies Hitoshi decisively, leaving no room for arguments in his tone as he looks between them. He waits for their nods before he turns to look at the sky. “I’d prefer if we took things slow, but I don’t want you to forget that you’ve been together a while now. Don’t slow down your relationship for me. I want to be with you both, but I don’t want to feel like I’ve made your relationship stagnant because I’m involved now. Does that make sense?”
“It makes perfect sense, Hitoshi, thank you for telling us. We will work on that, but you have to be ready to discuss it with us. If you are worried that we are losing track of our relationship, tell us. We don’t want you to put blame on yourself. But, if we’re going to do this with the three of us, then that means we each have to go on dates together separately too.” says Eijirou with understanding in his voice as he looks at Hitoshi, but then he looks at Katsuki too and takes a deep breath. When he speaks again, he glances between them often as he explains his thoughts. “I want all three of us together, don’t get me wrong, but I also want us to have individual relationships too. I think it’s important that we all spend time together rather than just us three going on dates together all the time. We all deserve attention, and I think making an effort to go on separate dates as well as big dates with all three of us will allow us to learn our separate dynamics.”
“I agree with that idea too. It’ll ensure that we don’t leave each other out if we take the time to date each other separately as well as together.” hums Katsuki in agreement as he sits back on his hands, and Hitoshi nods his own agreement.
“It will, and it’ll work for our schedules too, especially after we graduate.” murmurs Hitoshi as he looks between them before he scrunches his nose and sighs. “My schedule will probably be worse than either of yours once we graduate because I’m going to have to break into the underground scene with long hours and undercover ops too.”
“If Yamada and Zawa can do it, then so can we.” Eijirou points it out with a huff, narrowing his eyes on Hitoshi when he looks like he’s going to argue. “We’re not changing our minds. If you want us too, then we want you to be ours. No trying to give us outs.”
“It’s not like I did that on purpose, I was just trying to tell you how it’s going to be as I start my career. Don’t get me wrong, things are going to be hard for you two as well, spotlight heroes get more hell than undergrounds do.” Hitoshi’s arguing, a bit weakly, but he didn’t have the intentions of giving an out when he made that statement. “I just know that Zawa said that when he was breaking in, he didn’t have much time for Zashi, and things almost went south because of it. I just wanted to tell you that I’m probably going to deal with the same thing.”
“Okay, that- that makes more sense, sorry. I just- you’d already- yeah, I’m sorry for just jumping down your throat.” says Eijirou sheepishly as he rubs the back of his neck.
“I’m fuckin’ not, I was going to say the same shit. I’m glad you weren’t trying to give us an out, of course, but I still think it needed to be said.” grumbles Katsuki as he narrows his eyes at Hitoshi before he slouches. “Thank you for telling us, especially because we haven’t heard as much from Zawa about his relationship. We will fuckin’ make it though, even if we have to do things differently. But, it might be worth considering sharing an apartment. With all the shitty modeling I did as a kid, I could get a three-bedroom apartment for us.”
“Three bedrooms would be too much considering that you two already sleep in the same room. Just get a one or two bedroom. I can sleep fine in a sleeping bag as well as on the floor in general, and I’ll be gone at night, so it’d make sense to just have a couch for me.” replies Hitoshi quickly, feeling almost shy at the prospect of living with them at all, let alone as a throuple.
“Woah, we don’t sleep together on the regular. It’s just every other night, depending on our schedule, and usually Friday because I spend Saturday and Sunday at home.” says Eijirou with a blush appearing across his cheeks as he stares at Hitoshi with wide red eyes.
“Either way, it’s only to sleep because we were attempting to wait for the sake of his soulmate, you zombie.” replies Katsuki seriously, tilting his head to the side as he adds other points for three bedrooms, sounding smug as he looks from Eijirou to Hitoshi. “Besides, if we have three rooms, you can have one until you’re comfortable staying with us, and then we can have an office and a work-out room so we don’t have to look for a gym that we can go to away from our agencies.”
“Look, I can understand the future thoughts, and I appreciate you wanting me to have a room and all that. But I would like to remind you that my pay is going to be shit for a while. I can’t stay with you two if I can’t even pay for it.” says Hitoshi as he tries to ignore the heat he feels on his own cheeks to voice another reason that a single- or double-bedroom apartment would be better.
“Okay? Maybe you don’t have to pay rent. I’ll be able to cover it for a while with my money, and besides, I don’t want your ass on the fucking couch.” huffs Katsuki as he narrows his eyes at Hitoshi.
“We could always work out a payment plan to help us separate out the pay and ensure we all pay equal amounts to provide. If you can’t afford rent, maybe groceries or something along those lines? We can figure it out, so you don’t feel like you’re using us until you have the money to afford it too.” says Eijirou in understanding as he tilts his head and taps his finger on his bottom lip, distracting Hitoshi just long enough that when he turns to Katsuki, he’s not surprised by his smirk.
“We can look, but it might be worth me taking a single apartment that I’ll be able to afford rather than mooching off you two.” argues Hitoshi seriously because he really doesn’t think they’ll be able to work it out in a way that would actually make him feel like he’s contributing rather than mooching. “I could still come to yours, just maybe find two buildings that are close enough to make the commute easy. I can still spend most of my time at your apartment while you two are there.”
“Fuckin’ let’s just see our options before we consider getting two separate places.” grumbles Katsuki with a pout that has Hitoshi’s brows furrowing in confusion until he realizes that they hadn’t finished their pancakes which are definitely cold by now.
“Cold pancakes are still really good, Katsuki, and I’m still going to eat them.” says Hitoshi softly, smiling softly despite his wince at letting Katsuki’s food go cold.
“You know I’m going to finish mine, cold or not!” exclaims Eijirou brightly as he nudges Katsuki with his elbow before finishing his pancakes off.
“Yeah, I fuckin’ know. I just fuckin’ hate that I didn’t keep us on track enough to finish them while they were warm.” huffs Katsuki as he glares up at the sky before he tilts his head and finds something that has him scowling at the sky. “Don’t take that the wrong fuckin’ way either though! I’m glad that we spent this whole time talking, but also, we definitely missed the sunrise.”
“It’s okay, we can always watch the sunrise another time.” says Eijirou reassuringly after he takes a sip of his drink.
“The sunrise is always beautiful, but there’s a park maybe half an hour from here that has a really tall tree, and if you get onto one of the branches, you can watch the sunrise. I’ve never seen a more beautiful sunrise than when I found myself up there. Maybe you can go there sometime.” offers Hitoshi easily as he starts to eat his pancakes so he can finish them off as well, still enjoying the fluffy taste of them even if they’re cold on his tongue.
He thinks Katsuki might have made the best pancakes he’s ever tasted before, though he doesn’t know if he should tell him considering how much ego he already has when it comes to his cooking.
“If we’re going to that park, then your ass is coming too.” says Katsuki pointedly, and Hitoshi looks up with wide eyes to find him looking at him with narrowed red eyes daring him to argue.
“Sounds like a plan, also, these are delicious. Might be the best pancakes I’ve ever had… Don’t tell Lunch Rush I said that though.” replies Hitoshi with a shrug before he takes his final bite and chews slowly and turns to stare at the sky rather than looking at Katsuki after that compliment.
“Holy shit, he’s blushing. He never blushes about his cooking anymore! Well, not since I told him that I loved his steak. But still!” exclaims Eijirou with awe in his voice as he reaches over and tugs at Hitoshi’s jacket, and Hitoshi turns to see him pointing at Katsuki who is staring at him with wide red eyes and pink cheeks. “You just made Kats blush!”
“Damn, Blasty, you look pretty with a blush.” says Hitoshi almost breathlessly because he doesn’t think he’s ever seen Katsuki blush before.
“Oh, fuck you! If anyone looks pretty with a fuckin’ blush it’s you.” huffs Katsuki as he scowls at Hitoshi while the heat still dances over his cheeks.
“Nah, you and Ei are pretty, I’m just sleepy.” replies Hitoshi as he waves one hand while his other picks up his thermos.
“Oh hush, you’re very pretty, Hitoshi.” argues Eijirou seriously, pouting at him when Hitoshi looks at him.
“Don’t fuckin’ deny my words! You are pretty and sleepy, and it’s fuckin’ adorable.” adds Katsuki seriously as Eijirou nods with his words.
He’s being pouted at and scowled at, and Hitoshi doesn’t know how he ended up here. Well, that’s not true. He definitely knows how he ended up here, but he definitely didn’t think this was how it was going to go.
“Alright, alright, no denying your words, but that means no denying mine either.” offers Hitoshi with an arched brow as he leans back on his hands, thermos between his legs.
“Fuckin’ fine.” grumbles Katsuki as Eijirou smiles and says, “Sounds like a deal to me!”
“Good, then it’s a deal.” says Hitoshi softly as a lull picks up between them.
He puts his thermos aside to lay down and just stare at the sky rather than picking up the conversation more. He’s pretty sure they’ve said all that needs to be said, but he won’t add anything else if there isn’t anything else to add. Hitoshi almost jumps when Eijirou lays next to him, their pinkies brushing telling him that he’s been joined, but he does jump when Katsuki lays on his other side, his hand covering Hitoshi’s for just a moment.
They just lay there for a while, and Hitoshi doesn’t know how much time has passed, though he’s certain it’s after eight judging from how high the sun has gotten in the sky. He finds himself surprised by the closeness, realizing that he’s got Eijirou and Katsuki’s hands in his, their fingers intertwined against the rooftop. He knew they’d gotten close, knew that Katsuki had been tracing his fingertip over the back of his hand aimlessly, knew that Eijirou was playing with his fingers. He must’ve fallen asleep because he doesn’t remember when their fingers intertwined with his, when they held his hands tightly with their own like he was meant to be there.
“You slept for a good hour, Hitoshi. It’s eight-thirty, and Eijirou has been taking pictures.” says Katsuki with a sleep-addled voice that has him turning to look at him with furrowed brows.
“Did you fall asleep too or was it just me?” asks Hitoshi as he takes in the little white spot on the corner of Katsuki’s lips.
“He dozed too. I did too, though only for half an hour, and I woke Kats up maybe ten minutes ago? I forgot to turn my ringer off so the camera wouldn’t make a sound when I took a picture.” replies Eijirou sheepishly as Katsuki grumbles incoherently under his breath.
“I expect to be sent those pictures.” murmurs Hitoshi before a yawn tears through him. “I also might need to go to sleep for a little while longer… I didn’t think I would be that tired after managing to fall asleep again last night.”
“Kats slept fairly well after we sent our messages, so I’m surprised he was still tired considering he’s usually up early for his run before getting ready for school and making breakfast.” replies Eijirou with a shrug as he props himself up on his elbow to look down at them.
“Well, you didn’t manage to go to sleep for two hours, and you were watching videos. I may have been quiet, but I wasn’t fully asleep.” grumbles Katsuki as he props up on his own elbow as well and gives Eijirou a look.
“Come here, Kats.” murmurs Eijirou softly before he’s leaning over Hitoshi and Katsuki’s meeting him in the middle.
They kiss softly, but they keep it short and sweet, which is good because Hitoshi’s heart is speeding so quickly through his chest that he’s starting to sweat at the sight. He might like them a little more than he thought he did.
“Mm, thanks Ei.” mutters Katsuki softly, looking happy and sleepy.
“He’s really touchy in the morning when he just wakes up. He likes kisses and cuddles especially. He’s just really soft, and it’s the most adorable thing in the whole world, I swear.” says Eijirou sweetly, looking at Katsuki with awe as he whispers to Hitoshi.
Hitoshi gasps when Katsuki leans over and brushes his lips across his cheek, and then he chokes on that same gasp when Eijirou kisses the other just as softly.
“Did we kill you?” asks Katsuki amusedly as he rubs a hand down his face.
“Nope, no, definitely didn’t- uh- I wasn’t- I wasn’t expecting that.” mutters Hitoshi as his face heats up, and for one second, he hates that he doesn’t have his hands free to cover it.
“Well, this is our first date, so I think it only makes sense that we all get kisses. Plus, I didn’t know if you were up for an actual kiss, so I just decided to follow Kats with the cheek kiss instead.” says Eijirou brightly, grinning as he brushes the back of his fingers across Hitoshi’s cheek.
“Woah, we-? First date-? This isn’t- Is it?” Hitoshi stutters as his brain screeches to a halt on the words “First date” from Eijirou because he didn’t think this was going to be considered their first date. “Is this our first date?”
“Fuckin’ duh. Although, I can’t believe we didn’t add that to our messages earlier. Well, we don’t have to consider this the shitty first date if you don’t want to. We can always plan a better first date than this fuckin’ thing.” offers Katsuki as he looks at Hitoshi, seemingly surprised by their lack of communication.
“We really didn’t mention it? Shoot, I thought one of us would’ve brought it up!” grumbles Eijirou to himself as he tugs his phone out to read over their messages, and Hitoshi knows exactly when he’s read them all and realized that they hadn’t discussed it at all because he groans and drops his phone on the roof between their shoulders. “I am so sorry. I totally just cornered you again when I didn’t mean to at all. We weren’t trying to do that to you, I swear. I genuinely thought we’d mentioned it because we talked about it, but obviously we didn’t. I’m so sorry, Hitoshi.”
“Don’t- uh, you don’t- You don’t have to apologize. I get it. Sometimes things slip your mind. Um, as far as… as far as this being a first date goes… Do you really want our first date to be us talking about everything and a mini spat because of miscommunication that we cleared up?” asks Hitoshi softly as he furrows his brows and looks between them before staring at the sky between their heads because he’s a little scared of the response.
He’d basically just reminded them that this wasn’t a first date situation where it was soft and fun and sweet. This was filled with talks, and Hitoshi putting his foot in his mouth and upsetting them a couple of times.
“I mean, that’s basically what our first date was, so yeah, I’d definitely consider this a first date.” says Katsuki as he looks at Hitoshi, half-smirk curving his lips.
“We definitely managed to stick with what happened on our date, only it was a little different considering our spat was about soulmates.” says Eijirou with a soft chuckle as he agrees with Katsuki.
“Oh, so- Well, I can’t deny that I feel like this may not have been the best first date considering you two let me fall asleep. But I also think it fits a little too well honestly.” murmurs Hitoshi softly, uncertainty leaving his words coming out almost silently.
“We can try for a better first date, but I think you feeling comfortable enough to fall asleep with us made this perfect for us.” says Eijirou softly as his fingertips brush lightly over his cheek, soft and sweet.
“That’s true, he can fall asleep just about anywhere, but even he fuckin’ struggles with falling asleep in front of people that he doesn’t entirely trust.” adds Katsuki with this soft voice that has Hitoshi’s eyes trailing over to him only to find Katsuki wearing a soft smile on his lips.
“You two are absolutely going to end me. Okay, I need more sleep, but this can be our first date, as long as next time, you don’t let me go to sleep.” murmurs Hitoshi as he settles his head properly and stares up at the sky full of color and clouds moving as slowly as usual.
“I don’t think we can keep your ass up, but we can at least try.” snorts Katsuki with a shake of his head, but he’s grinning amusedly.
“That’s true, but we might be able to. Maybe a restaurant dinner? Or the arcade?” offers Eijirou softly, seeming uncertain with his choices as he looks from Katsuki to Hitoshi.
“That could work actually. I happen to enjoy the arcade, but if you take me to some fancy restaurant, I’m going to struggle with finding an actually nice outfit for the meal. I don’t do fancy.” replies Hitoshi softly, snorting at himself because he could probably get a suit, if he had to, but he would be the most uncomfortable person in the room if he was wearing one, that’s for sure.
“I dunno, I think you’d look pretty good in a suit, and the hag would have a field day making nice clothes for you and Ei.” replies Katsuki with a chuckle, looking for all the world like he might want to prove that point.
“Don’t you go thinking you can prove it. I am not a good mannequin.” says Hitoshi while lazily pointing his finger at Katsuki.
“Oh really? I think you’d be pretty, getting all dressed up, especially if my Pops got in on the deal.” replies Katsuki with a smirk as he looks at him, winking when Hitoshi narrows his eyes at him. “I promise it won’t be too bad, the hag could even use anything nice that you have and spice it up some for you without changing the dimensions of the designs.”
“She won’t be too bad, though I definitely don’t want her to ever design an outfit for me from scratch.” grumbles Eijirou as he lays back on the ground, pouting up at the sky.
“Okay, now I have to see that because he’s pouting so seriously. What did your mom put him through?” asks Hitoshi as he turns to look at Eijirou, lightly tapping his cheek.
“She put him through the wringer for a suit. We had a family wedding to go to, and there was no way in hell I was going to be around everyone without him. But the hag always makes us new suits for any formal family event, so Ei had to get a new suit too as my plus one guest.” replies Katsuki with a chuckle as he reaches over to tap Eijirou’s bottom lip with his thumb, smirking when Eijirou makes to bite him. “He didn’t enjoy all the sticking that came with alterations after he put on more muscle three months after his suit was done for the wedding.”
“Your mom is heavy handed with that needle, and you know it.” huffs Eijirou as he sits up to glower at Katsuki, eyes narrowing when Katsuki’s head falls back with a chuckle. “Even Izuku said she wouldn’t be, and yet she was! You two totally set me up, and I know it because any time you bring up having your mom make us some outfits, or me helping model things, Izuku laughs just like you do.”
“No chance I’m letting her at me if she’s that heavy handed. I can do some modifications myself, but if it’s really serious, I can probably reach out to my old adoptive mom. She’s got a tailoring quirk…” mutters Hitoshi before his face scrunches up, grimacing as he remembers what comes with asking her for clothes. “But I'd have to do favors for her, and those won’t be very pleasant.”
“How unpleasant?” asks Eijirou, his tone unsettling.
“Is it like dressing up formally unpleasant or training with sensei unpleasant?” asks Katsuki with a curious tilt to his head.
“Those are some wide spectrums, but it’s really not like that. It’ll be unpleasant enough that I’ll probably be begging sensei to do training to get out of it depending on how long she manages to get me to do ‘em for her. Nothing bad though. She’ll just end up having me go out with her daughter, and I’ve done it enough.” explains Hitoshi with a soft look because he does enjoy seeing his favorite sibling from his time with that family, even if it means he’s running around with her. “She’s not able to do things on her own because her quirk saps a lot of her energy, so she needs someone to help her move around or accompany her when she goes out with her friends or her girlfriend. So, it’s really just going to be me having to go be in public, carry a ton of bags, and be subjected to their attention when they decide to make me dress-up for them.”
“Well, that means you’re willing to do it, but if it goes beyond your limits, you’ll end up needing an out. We can offer that, no problem, but maybe give the hag a chance before you go asking for help that’ll require you to do favors? Hanging out with people when you want to is a lot more fun than when you’re required to.” says Katsuki in an understanding tone as he brushes some hair away from Hitoshi’s face.
“Yeah, I know. It’s just easier to do it as a favor because of her school schedule and my own. At least then we have to make time for each other. But I do owe her a birthday gift, so maybe I can find a way to make a day of it with her.” says Hitoshi thoughtfully as he remembers that her birthday had just passed, and he’d promised her a gift for having to miss her party because of patrol with Aizawa. “If your mom sticks me with needles, I’m so not letting her do it again. I’ve been stuck for too often in my lifetime to deal with it anymore. I’m good at standing still when I need to, so hopefully that’ll give me some help with it.”
“Don’t worry, I was a squirmer. I’m pretty sure that’s the only reason I got stabbed so much, but there’s no way you will.” replies Eijirou softly, chuckling at himself as he looks down at him.
“I’ll give her a chance. I do happen to know how impressive the Bakugou’s are with thread and needles, but you better not make me meet your parents before we go on another date. I am not ready to meet them as your other partner, especially when you have to tell them about me being Eijirou’s soulmate.” Hitoshi winces at himself because he knows how bad that could go, his experiences don’t give much room to think of the positives with this situation. “God, maybe we shouldn’t tell them that.”
“They won’t mind, promise. Besides, they were all too happy, along with Auntie, about the nerd and his relationship. No way we’ll get judged. But, even if they did try to judge us, I’d just bring up that we have had this occur in our family before, with their own parents too.” replies Katsuki fiercely, a stark contrast to the mood around them and the way they’d been talking already.
“Sounds like you have nothing to worry about, and my own moms won’t mind one bit. So, you have nothing to stress over there either. Now, how about we ease the mood back some?” asks Eijirou softly, smiling so sweetly that Hitoshi almost has to give into the urge to kiss him that he’s had since those soft lips brushed over his cheek. But then his lips are curving up a little more hopefully, before he puts out a sweet offer. “You need more sleep, and honestly, we probably do too. So, are we separating, or do we wanna use the beanbags and make a pallet on the floor in Katsuki’s room and sleep some more?”
“I’m down for a sleepover, but we’re definitely putting down the fluffy ass color bomb that the hag got me for Christmas as a fucking gag present. It’s fuckin’ soft and should make the floor easier to deal with.” says Katsuki with a soft smile of his own as he looks from Eijirou down to Hitoshi with curiosity. “You down for that, or is it too fast for you, Hitoshi?”
Hitoshi looks between them for a moment, taking his time thinking about it because while he doesn’t think it’d be moving too fast, he isn’t sure if they should. After a few moments, he decides to lift himself up, and he brushes a quick kiss across Katsuki’s cheek before turning to do the same with Eijirou.
“A sleepover sounds perfect, and I happen to have the softest cat pillow that I could bring. It’s a body pillow, so we could use it for our heads. Plus, it’s really good for neck support, had Mei make one for me and Aizawa after we had to do a stake-out last month that absolutely ruined our necks.” says Hitoshi softly, smirking when they gape down at him as he gets comfortable again, lightly squeezing their hands in his and feeling like he’d just won everything.
“Well shit, if you’re going to do a cheek kiss, why not go for the real thing?” asks Katsuki with an arched brow and a smirk.
“I’m sure that pillow is absolutely adorable, so you should definitely go get it. But are you going to be able to escape your dorms to come over, or are you going to have to grapple up again? Our rooms are on the other side of the building.” says Eijirou thoughtfully as he tilts his head, sitting up properly and turning to face them while holding Hitoshi’s hand in his lap.
“Katsuki wants an actual kiss, and you’re talking about how I’ll get to your rooms. Okay, well as far as actual kisses go, any time, and for the room thing, I can grapple easily. But I can also just escape.” replies Hitoshi easily as he sits himself up without a struggle, and he hides his smirk when he sees the way Eijirou and Katsuki are looking at him considering he has no hands and his legs are fully straight. “My dorm decided to do sleepovers and stuff, so nobody’s leaving their rooms until eleven when they’re doing a class brunch that I am not obligated to go to.”
Katsuki is the one who does it, who leans over, cups his face with his free hand, and presses a harsh kiss to his lips that softens as soon as Hitoshi starts to kiss back. It ends just as quickly though, chaste but so soft and sweet that Hitoshi’s heart feels like it’s in his throat when he looks at Katsuki. Then another hand, slightly cooler than Katsuki’s but rougher, curves around to his other cheek as Katsuki’s hand drops, and he’s turned to face Eijirou. When Eijirou kisses him, it’s soft and gentle and barely there. So quick and sweet that you’d almost miss it, but so filled with care that you couldn’t miss the butterflies in your stomach from it if you tried.
“Let’s go do a nap date, and we can talk about a real date after we get up again.” says Eijirou brightly, grinning as he looks from Hitoshi to Katsuki and back again.
“A nap date sounds fuckin’ perfect, and it better be a regular occurrence for our asses too.” huffs Katsuki softly, but Hitoshi grins when he hears the underlying happiness in his voice.
They’re both smiling, and Hitoshi feels so grateful for all of this that he almost doesn’t believe it’s real. Of course, he can’t deny that it’s real because their warm hands are holding his, fingers intertwined with his, and they want him too.
“I can meet you there in ten?” offers Hitoshi softly, smiling at them as he stares down at their hands.
“In ten. We’ll meet you in the common room, that way we can clean everything up and head up to Kats’ room together!” exclaims Eijirou brightly before he starts to stand, leading them all to stand with him.
“Sounds good to me, but no more fuckin’ coffee until after the nap.” says Katsuki decisively as he stares down at their hands and his face twinges. “I don’t wanna let go of your damn hand.”
“Neither do I… Do we have to?” asks Eijirou with a whine after a moment, and their hands grasp onto Hitoshi’s a little bit tighter.
“I mean… Have either of you talked to Denki? I’m sure he and Nei will be up for a nap date of their own, so maybe we can convince Nei to bring my pillow for me?” offers Hitoshi with a tilt of his head before something hits him, and he feels his lips start to curve into a pout. “You’ll have to let go of my hands to pack everything up though…”
“Fuckin’ no we won’t! We can do this together, it’ll be easy, and all you have to do is stand there and look pretty, Hitoshi.” argues Katsuki before he nods at Eijirou.
“Already texting Denks. Maybe we’ll get- Heck yeah! Okay, Denki said he’ll have Monoma bring over your pillow, but that we all owe him a gossip night to tell him about all this.” says Eijirou with a soft chuckle that tells Hitoshi that this isn’t a new occurrence with them either.
“Fuckin’ Pikachu and his need to know everything.” grumbles Katsuki with a shake of his head, but even he sounds amused.
“Sounds like you two have gossip nights with him too. It’ll be easy, just let him read our messages, tell him we fell asleep on the roof together, and that’s it. He won’t be able to stop squealing long enough to ask other questions…” replies Hitoshi with a shrug, though he’s smiling because this means he doesn’t have to let go of their hands. He tilts his head as he thinks on what he said because this only works if there’s only one blonde to deal with, and the blondes are together now. “Oh, but that will only work if Neito isn’t at the gossip session because that blonde… that one will ask questions. He likes to know every little detail he can that isn’t sexual because he’s had enough of those talks with his own family members.”
“Looks like we’re giving them everything we can then.” murmurs Eijirou with a sigh as he tucks his phone back into his pocket.
“Fuckin’ course we are. You know Pikachu would’ve bugged us afterwards for more anyway.” says Katsuki with an eye roll as he tugs them all over to the picnic basket. “Alright, let’s do this.”
It takes them some time, but they get everything packed up pretty neatly. They end up walking down the stairs with Hitoshi holding the blanket under his arm so Eijirou can hold onto the thermoses while Katsuki holds onto the picnic basket. When they get down there, Denki and Neito are chatting in front of some cabinets that look to be holding snacks. Hitoshi pouts when his hands are released, but then he’s holding onto his body pillow as Katsuki and Eijirou quickly put everything away while Denki and Neito wave goodbye and head for the elevator.
When they do finally get up to Katsuki’s room, Katsuki sets everything up while Eijirou and Hitoshi watch because he refused to let them help, and then they’re getting laid down with Hitoshi in the middle.
Hitoshi falls asleep surrounded by them with their arms wrapped around his waist as his hands curl around them, and he knows that this is going to be the best thing to happen to him since getting into the hero course.
