Chapter Text
“Are you sure we’re alone?”
Panting, a grunt as a thud sounds against a rough wall.
“Uh, yeah, Sam’s going to be out for…do we have to go over this again?”
“Sorry-” Bob gasps as his sharp bite pierced pale skin. “We’re busy, yeah.”
“Busy.” Joaquín cracked a smirk against Bob’s neck before trailing kisses up to his mouth. Conversation is lost as the shorter hoists the brunette higher against the wall. Bob grasps Joaquín's forearms as a flurry of butterflies buzz through his stomach. A surprised laugh is punched out of him, puffing against an amused Joaquin’s lips. “What's so funny?”
“Nothing it’s just…” Bob trailed off, squeezing the arms holding him up again. “I don’t know, I can’t appreciate your strength?”
“Hmm, no I like it when you…appreciate me. But it’s nothing new. We’ve been doing this for weeks now.”
“Never gets old I guess.” Bob quirked his mouth down toward Joaquin, squeezing the man’s midsection with his thighs. Joaquín hefted him up again, grin crooked and boyish. Both of their eyes were hooded and glazed over while gold sparkled in Bob’s iris.
“Oh you guess so-”
“What the hell?”
At the unknown voice, Joaquín instinctively set Bob down on the ground before he spun around in shock. Bob hit the floor with a slight “oomf” and frantically tried to straighten himself out.
“Oh uh Sam!” Joaquín stuttered, smoothing out the wrinkles in his t-shirt and his messy hair. Sam just raised an eyebrow at him, otherwise not giving away a single thought. “It’s not what it looks like!”
“So you’re not fooling around in my living room?”
“Um..”
“You have a room you know.”
“Uh huh yup, let’s just go there.” Frantically Joaquín started to turn Bob toward his room, trying to cover the slightly taller form with his own, unfurling his wings to shield him even more. Sam, who contrary to Joaquín's belief is not blind nor dumb, just sighed loudly at the display.
“I can very clearly tell that is Bob, Joaquín. You’re not going to be able to sneak the literal Sentry into my base without me knowing.” Sam continued his walk to the kitchen, beelining toward the coffee machine. The machine whurred in the awkward silence that ensued. Joaquín and Bob glanced at each other before their eyes return to the man meticulously picking out a mug from the back of the cabinet.
“You do know it's like almost midnight, right?” Sam paused in his movement, slowly turning to face the boys with a clear look of disbelief across his features.
“Don’t you have a room to get to?”
“Going!” Joaquín resumed lightly herding Bob toward his room, a smile returned to his face. They both rush toward the hallway, eager to escape the living room.
Bob flopped onto Joaquín's bed with a groan, red face covered by his sleeve covered hands. Joaquín sat next to him, lightly resting his hand on Bob’s knee and giving it soothing pats.
“I’m gonna die.” Bob groaned loudly, rubbing his eyes roughly.
“Honey, please.” Joaquín laid out next to the other man, rolling over to face him. Despite his words, there was a soft look on his features.
Bob sighed and rolled himself to make eye contact. They stared at one another, eyes roaming each other's faces in a comfortable silence. After a few minutes, Bob cracked a smile, giggling slightly.
“I guess it's nice we don’t have to sneak around anymore.”
“You think Sam told Bucky?”
“Well, duh don’t they tell each other everything?”
“I mean they are partners, I tell you everything.” Bob smiled at his words, shifting to stare up at the ceiling in thought.
“I mean we could always invite them to a double date to apologize for sneaking around.” At his suggestion, Bob turned back to this side, eyes searching Joaquín's face. Said man’s smile shifted wider, excitement glinting in his eyes.
“For sure! They haven’t gone out in a while I think, they’d love it!”
With that, the boys continued to discuss their plans before exhaustion took over, dragging them to sleep curled around each other and content.
Simultaneously, Sam had preoccupied himself with finishing making his coffee and eventually settled against the counter with his steaming mug and phone. He stared at Bucky’s contact, scrolling absently through their past messages. Simple, one word answers, dry responses and practical questions. The most exciting of their recent texts was time stamped a few weeks ago where they both discovered their respective teammate’s relationship. While the boys believed they were discreet, you can’t quite sneak around with a prominent super hero into and out of super hero bases without someone finding out.
Sam spent another minute gazing at past texts before he scrolled back down and sent a simple:
“Bobs here. Probably for the night.”
A reply came almost instantly.
“ Watched him ‘sneak’ out the tower. Thanks.”
Sam huffed, going to put his phone back in his pocket when it buzzed.
“ Goodnight.”
It's the most personal thing either of them had said in weeks.
Hesitantly, Sam typed back a simple “Night” and stuffed his phone back in his pocket. He went to sip his coffee, sighing in frustration as the liquid had cooled. He deposited the mug in the sink, trudging his way to his room with the light of the moon to guide him.
