The cruelty of those who are meant to help us.

Summary:

TOTK!Link aka Wild travels through time(lines) and winds up in the AoC when the upheaval happens. Confused and injured, Wild wanders the depths where they landed. With no way out they eventually succumb to their injuries and pass out after making it to a mine, but a much worse fate is waiting for them. Hopefully their spirits can find out before they meet the same fate.

Notes:

! This is written by a system. Updates are not regular. Please be patient, and enjoy !

Just wanna explain two things about this au first:
Link is the sage of spirits here. Mineru passed it down to them once the quest was over so that she could finally rest. Link has two abilities : 1 communication with the dead, and 2 being able to have his souls leave his body.
Link has two souls : Forest, a forest spirit, and Hero, the spirit of the hero. The reason being is that when the shrine of resurrection was reviving Link, his soul was too fragile to exist on its own and would have died almost immediately after leaving the shrine. So it grabbed a random forest spirit’s soul and mixed the two together to get Link/Wild.
They can project as 2 souls or 1, but Hero is not able to go far from the body if thy project as 2.

Okay that’s all :D I just wanted to clear that up lol.

Chapter Text

Fate and the Goddess work in mysterious ways. They always said this. Now. Now it does not mean anything good. They wanted to go home. They wanted out. Out of the depths. Out of this darkness, and out of this hell hole. None of the lightshrooms worked. When or where they were. They didn’t know. They just knew they wanted to go home. They wanted to see their husband and wife again. They wanted their (platonic) soulmate back. They wanted home.

There was gloom everywhere. There were monsters everywhere. They didn’t have any supplies on them. They were completely and utterly useless. They were defenseless and without any materials to even use auto-build. They were done for. They couldn’t even find the chasm they had first fallen into. It was just an endless cycle of walking, running, losing health, and avoiding monsters.

They wouldn’t last much longer. Their injuries haven’t been healing. They’re probably been infected by something. There wasn’t any sense of time here. They couldn’t remember the last time they slept. It was too dangerous here. That definitely wasn’t helping with their injuries. They think there’s gloom on their legs from how much they’ve run through it. They think it’s gotten into their lungs. It’s all over their hand whenever they cough.

It was hard to tell. They knew they wouldn’t last much longer. Not in this condition. Not here. They just needed to find a place to rest. Somewhere to leave their body so that they may find help. There should be a mine somewhere nearby. They think. They hope there is. They can’t hold on much longer. This is the only thing keeping them going. The knowledge that they can find somewhere to rest.

Rest. They needed it so badly, but there just wasn’t any safe locations. Everywhere they stepped was too dangerous. The mines were the only safe places. That’s all they knew. They just had to make it too one. Just keep moving. Don’t stop walking till it’s safe. They could do that. They could.
