The two of them will end up with nothing but a legal contract in case of a hypothetical tragedy binding them together, and they’ll live apart, and he won’t get to cook dinner anymore or help out with homework or complain about TikTok music blaring from his Jeep’s speakers.
He thinks to himself, I can’t believe Shannon would leave this.
Which isn’t fair because he knows what it’s like to be abandoned at nineteen with an improper send off and a trembling hand. But he has to think that, because otherwise he has to confront his real horror: I can’t believe Eddie would leave this.

Hi! This is my first work in the Re fandom and my first work on AO3 so I’m shitting a brick posting this. Ive changed a few things in this fic, hence the Canon- divergence tag. The DSO is already established and has been for a few years. A few of the character’s ages have been changed to fit the story better as well, (mainly Leon and Sherry). The events of this fic are also based around 2017. This a purely self indulgent piece so please be nice with the comments!
