Chapter Text

Torbek wouldn't say he's the most perceptive or smartest, but even he can tell Kremy isn't okay.

Kremy's whole body is tense and glaring at the ground with an intensity Torbek hasn't seen before. And on the note of Kremy.. Kremy looks very different to put it simply.

Kremy is, well, a human. His skin is a dark brown instead of green, and there are dots of a darker color all over the lower part of his face. His hair is black and has… braids in it? They aren't like any braids Torbek has seen before. Well, really, Torbek's never really seen most hair before, but anyway, the braids are pulled into a small, short ponytail. Kremy's eyes are still gray, sorta it's more like a blue-ish gray.. Kremy doesn't really look like an alligator anymore at all. In Torbek's opinion, the only way you can tell that this human is Kremy is that Kremy is wearing his suit, hat, and has his cane.

“Mr. Kremy?”

Torbek asks, and that seems to snap Kremy out of his thoughts. Kremy looks at Torbek in a way that makes Torbek uncomfortable before quickly looking away. Torbek frowns and shifts uncomfortably.. Torbek looks down at his arms to try and get an idea of what he looks like.

The first thing he notices is he no longer has the tubes of witchlight on him anymore, his skin seems to be the same color it was before, maybe a little lighter, instead of fur his arms are covered in blonde body hair, oh, Torbek forgot he was blonde. His arms also have many scars, 3 scars in particular stand out, 2 of them are on his upper arm and are in the same spots some of the tubes were, and look similar, and the 3rd one is big and goes from the back of his hand and halfway up his lower arm. Torbek looks to his other arm and sees almost the exact same 3 scars there as well. The scars look kinda pink. Perhaps that's where the witchlight went?

He frowns slightly as he itches at one of the scars. Torbek doesn't know why Kremy got so upset just by looking at him. Torbek knows he isn't the best looking, but surely this form isn't so terrible that Kremy can't even look at him.

“Mr. Kremy, are you okay?”

Torbek asks and watches as Kremy looks up at him, Kremy is silent for a second before smiling and speaking

“I'm fine Torbek, don't you worry. Just a little frustrated about this whole situation is all. I'm not particularly fond of whatever fey curse this is.”

Torbek frowns deepens. He doesn’t believe Kremy.

The krew was split up and led into different rooms. Currently, Torbek is sitting at a table, and across from him is a woman looking at him with a gentle smile that seems a bit fake, honestly. It seems more like pity than actual kindness, but Torbek supposes he should take whatever kindness he can get.

The woman is holding a clipboard in her hands. She takes a piece of paper off of it and slides it over to Torbek along with a pen. “Alright I need you to fill out this form. It's just some basic questions to help us get an idea of how you are.” The Woman's voice is soft and quiet “Take as much time as you need. We aren't in any rush. Now my name is Rachel, and while you fill that out, I'm going to ask you some questions, alright?”

Torbek shifts uncomfortably in the seat but nods his head, Torbek looks down at the paper given to him before remembering he can't read.

“So let's start simple, what's your name?”

Torbek can't tell you how long he was in the room, but he can tell you he hated it there. The woman, Rachel, asked him many questions, and her eyes seemed to fill with more and more pity with each question he answered.

Every answer he gave, she acted as if it wasn't true, but Torbek knows his own name. Of course, Torbek knows those simple things about himself. Worst, though, is that every answer he couldn't give made her look at him with almost sadness and give him an answer with her soft pity-filled voice. It was like she had a paper with information about him (which would be wrong since she didn't even know that his name was Torbek) Torbek really didn't like it.

And when she found out he couldn't read at all her whole face flooded with pity, Torbek doesn't think he ever felt more embarrassed…

But eventually, he was led out to a room by her where the rest of the krew are, the room is silent especially for them.

She says something that Torbek isn't really paying attention to. He's too busy looking at the krew. They all look so weird as humans. Well, Gideon looks the most normal. The only differences are that he doesn't have his horns, has 2 bracelets where his manacles usually are, and instead of red Gideon’s skin is a tan color, but otherwise he looks practically the same.

Gricko looks similar to what he used to look like as well, but still a bigger change than Gideon. Gricko for one looks to be almost a foot and a half taller than he was before, Gricko's ears are not big and long anymore and neither is his nose, also instead of green Gricko is like a pale beige or something. It's very strange.

But the person who looks the most different besides Kremy is Frost. This human version of Frost has very short black curly hair (The hair is so short in fact that the curls are barely able to curl) Torbek doesn't think he's ever imagined Frost with black hair before it is very strange. There are 2 curls on the top of Frost's head that kinda look like the cat ears he originally had. Frost instead of black, orange, and white fur he has a warm light brown skin (The author literally doesn't know how to describe the color man it's hex code a07160) and black instead of yellow eyes. On Frost's cheeks there are 2 stripe-like markings of a lighter color on either side that sorta resemble tiger markings if you squint.

It's very, very odd to see them all look like this. Though Torbek doesn't have much time to think too much about it since he sees Kremy get visibly pissed off and manages to catch the last part of what the women said.

“Well since you all are already here, we might as well get you all in some new clothes. I'm sure those aren't comfortable to wear.”

Huh? What? Why do they need to change?

Torbek ends up in a dark, dull purple short sleeve shirt with a dull pinkish purple stripe and light gray pants. Torbek feels a bit upset about not having his clothes, like yeah, they were dirty, stinky, ripped up, and overall gross, but they were one of the few things that were his. At least they said they would give him his clothes back soon.

These clothes are pretty nice. They are clean and soft. They are oversize though, which Torbek doesn't really mind because he didn't think anything would fit him anyways, and oversized stuff is so much better than undersized.

He looks at the other, and they don't seem too happy about the change. Which makes sense, all of them liked their clothes a lot.

Once they finish getting into their new outfits, the same woman, Rachel, gives them a mini tour around the place. Torbek looks around and sees some other people. Most of them seem to be goofing around, and others are just chilling.

Rachel shows them a few of the rooms and tells them that they will stay in them and that they will have a roommate. She tells them that they can hang out in the common areas while she finishes processing them because apparently ‘they showed up on short notice’ whatever that means.

They end up in a recreation room sitting around a table playing some card game called ‘UNO’ Torbek is pretty sure they aren’t playing it right all since none of them really bothered to find the rules let alone read them. Eventually they learn how to actually play with the help of someone in the rec room who seemed unnecessarily upset by the way they were playing it. They figured out that they all take turns playing a card that is either the same color and number of the one before and how the goal of the game is to run out of cards first. The other person literally explained every rule and detail about the game and once they saw the krew play it properly they went back over to play some block game with someone else. Maybe if it was a different day at a different time the group wouldn’t have some random person tell them off for playing a game wrong but they really can’t bring themselves to care at this moment or at least Torbek can’t.

They continue to play and it’s relatively fun and a good distraction from how they all currently feel right now. Although this whole game is strange simply based on the fact no cheating is going on and Kremy is losing BADLY. Like it’s really bad, Kremy has at least 30 cards in his hands.

“Kremy, it’s your turn.” Gideon has to remind Kremy after sitting in silence for a second.

“Uh what?”
“It’s your turn”

“Oh uh..” Kremy looks at his cards for a second before playing one. It’s very easy to tell that Kremy is not at all paying attention to the game, clearly thinking about something else. They don’t address it since while yeah they all are probably thinking the same thing there's no doubt in at least his mind that this curse will be over by morning so there's really no point in talking about it now.
