Chapter Text
The Addams family hearse pulled up to the front steps of Nevermore, a tall butler dutifully opening the door and standing back as a twin braided girl exited, the dark haired teen turning around with her hand held out in quiet offering. A fair feminine hand extended to take it, finger adorned in tasteful rings sitting comfortably on her left ring finger, the blonde sliding across the seat and stepping out with a smaller blonde baby girl in her arms.
“It’s kinda weird being back. So much and nothing has changed at the same time,” Enid smiled softly, looking over the comfortingly familiar building, the little girl kicking her legs excitedly as she looked at all the new sights and smells. “You excited to be back too, Em?” Enid asked with an amused grin, pressing an exaggerated kiss to her cheek, the 19 week old giggling brightly before nuzzling in under Enid’s jaw. Wriggling in her mother’s arms, Enid carefully put the little girl down, her little legs extended and ready as she stood with only minor wobbling. She tightly held onto Enid’s hand, reaching out with a frustrated whine as she looked up at Wednesday.
“Mamá,” she demanded, a soft smile quirking on Wednesday’s face as she took her daughter’s hand and slowly started walking up the steps with her, little legs strong despite her age.
“HOW IS SHE WALKING!” Yoko screamed, quickly aborting her rush up to Enid as she took in the bewildering sight of the brightly smiling Emalie standing between her parents. “Isn’t she supposed to not be able to crawl until she’s like 25 weeks at an absolute minimum?”
“She is exceptional,” Wednesday replied evenly.
“Since she wolfed out, she just kinda decided she wanted to walk. She started pulling herself up on the couch and tables to stand, and then just… started walking. She still needs us to keep her stable, but she’s very strong and determined,” Enid smiled proudly.
“You’ve opened up a whole new world I don’t think you’re ready for,” Divina chuckled. “When my cousin had a baby, the second it was able to move around, it was almost impossible to keep it still. And the second it learnt to swim… Took off like a mini rocket and never wanted to get out.”
“So far, she still prefers to be carried around, but when she’s excited she likes to charge around the place with her walker. Honestly, I think she kinda misses being able to run around on four legs,” Enid mused, wriggling Emalie’s hand slightly.
“Thanks again for letting us crash at your place for a few days after the wedding by the way. It was pretty cool getting to see your natural habitat,” Yoko teased Wednesday, the seer sighing softly with fond annoyance.
“Your continued presence in my home was not entirely an inconvenience.”
“Because I offered to babysit so you could have a honeymoon period with Enid?” Yoko smirked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“It was fun seeing your lake. Even if the creature in it tried to eat me,” Divina admitted awkwardly, shifting the topic. “My scales have never been so shiny after a swim,” she continued.
“The kraken hasn’t encountered a siren for quite some time. I can only assume it forgot what to do. Or it was playing with its food,” Wednesday replied. “We need to get Emalie settled back in our room. She has a feeding scheduled in an hour and we need time to unpack before that.”
“Okay, okay. I know when I’m unwanted,” Yoko sighed playfully. “Bye, puppy. Be good.”
“Can you wave bye bye to aunty Yoko and aunty Divi?” Enid cooed, waving to them demonstratively as Emalie watched, the little girl opening and closing her hand as she ‘waved’. “Can you do me a favour actually? Can you see if you can find Eugene? He’s meant to be Pugsley’s new roommate and I think Mum and Papa Gomez wanna get him settled in his new room.”
“Didn’t Pugsley and Eugene meet at your wedding?” Divina asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Pugsley has not spent time at a boarding school before. He is an emotional and soft creature that craves friendship,” Wednesday replied.
“Like you’re one to talk, babe. You’re super soft,” Enid chuckled, getting a half hearted glare from her wife.
“Only with my immediate family. You and Emalie,” Wednesday clarified with an indignant hiss.
“We’ll track down bee boy and his fluffy love. Go get your baby settled and we’ll see you at lunch,” Yoko agreed, blowing Emalie a kiss before taking Divina’s hand and walking off.
“Darlings, we will be staying at the cottage nearby. We wanted to be close by in case you needed us and to assist with Pugsley’s transition into boarding school,” Morticia explained, walking over to the girls.
“I am aware you have taken a position as the new botanical sciences teacher, mother,” Wednesday replied evenly with a small quirk of her eyebrow.
“Yes, Principal Lykaon has invited me to be a member of the faculty, and I agreed for the year,” she explained. “We will be expecting you for dinner at the cottage later tonight. Go get yourselves settled and Lurch will fetch you when it is time.”
“Looking forward to it,” Enid beamed, leaning down and scooping up Emalie to perch her on her hip before taking her wife’s hand, giving it a tug as she started walking. “Too many stairs for you to walk up, baby girl.”
Lurch followed dutifully behind them carrying their luggage, setting it down carefully before going back down to collect the rest, leaving the girls to take in the fact that their room had replaced their separate beds with a spacious queen sized bed with black linens.
“It would seem mother and father have arranged new bedding for us,” Wednesday mused.
“That’s so thoughtful. And it’s all tucked away on your side so the other is just for Em,” Enid replied brightly, quickly checking Emalie’s nappy to see if it needed a change. “That reminds me, we should probably go out later and get some more nappies and wipes since we’re running low on the ones we have here,” she finished, walking over and setting her bag down on their new bed so she could get started on building Emalie’s new playpen that would sit near where her desk used to be. “Do you think we could maybe get her one of those jumping things? Or those little walkers so she can walk around by herself?”
“If you even breathe the essence of the idea to my father, he will combust and re-form just to buy the manufacturing company. I recommend you give him strict guidelines for what he is allowed to do so he does not do something excessive,” Wednesday advised, starting to unpack her belongings and hang up her clothes.
“Do you think that I could put my new clothes in your closet now? Or will they still give you a reaction?”
“I will only have a reaction if I touch colour directly, querida. Your new clothes will make reactions less likely. I have not tested the boundaries of my allergy, for what I think are obvious reasons,” Wednesday replied honestly, doing her best to try and reassure her wife. “I hope I did not upset you.”
“No, I appreciate your honesty,” Enid replied, settling Emalie into the collapsible playpen with a silicone chew toy, amused by how hard she immediately chomped into the toy. Even during the week or so between their wedding and returning to Nevermore, Emalie’s baby fangs had started erupting more, almost poking through her gums. Which had made the teething toys, especially the chilled ones, important for soothing her sore gums and keeping her calm.
“With her baby fangs imminent, I think maybe we should talk to Mum again. I remember talking to her about it last week, and I think she mentioned something called Nipple guards, or whatever they’re called. Might help protect me from getting mauled,” Enid half laughed, watching as Thing perched himself on the frame fencing of her play pen, watching over her.
“We can ask her about it tonight at dinner if you wish,” Wednesday replied gently, pulling Enid flush against her before pressing a lingering kiss to her smiling lips. Before Enid could kiss her back properly, her entire body bristled as she abruptly turned around and growled threateningly towards the door, pushing Wednesday protectively behind her as she strafed towards their daughter.
“I can smell you. Show yourself!” Enid snarled, baring her elongated fangs as fur started erupting along her arms. An audible gulp sounded before a young redhead in twin braids appeared from thin air. “Why the hell are you in our room?”
“I just wanted to see Wednesday,” she replied in a delicately airy voice. “To meet the girl who saved the school. I’ve heard so much about you and I’m a big fan,” the redhead continued, Enid snarling once more once she was standing in front of Emalie. “I had heard you’d had a baby with your roommate, but not that you were also mated and married.”
“Both were private and recent developments,” Wednesday replied, stepping out from behind Enid, despite the blonde’s clear disapproval. “I am fine, Enid. This is simply a deranged thirteen year old lacking boundaries.”
“Did you receive my messages?” the young teen asked hopefully, large eyes widening with hope. Wednesday’s eyebrow quirked for a moment as she put the pieces together, memories of the threatening messages she received on her gifted phone as she left for the Spring break, before schooling her features again and tightening her eyes into a glare.
“Your attempts were received. Your execution was severely lacking. Clearly you need more experience in the art of stalking given you were using photos of the wrong pressure point,” Wednesday replied. “But Enid is right. Why are you in our room?”
“Oh, how rude of me. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Agnes DeMille,” Agnes curtsied with an unsettling smile, Enid rolling her eyes with a huff. “If you would permit it, I would humbly devote myself to your tutelage. A vanisher such as myself could be very useful. And I would happily do tasks too mundane for you to waste your precious time with, like research or collecting things you may need?” Wednesday sighed wearily, already tired of the overenthusiastic blatant hero worship.
“Stop. I am not interested in being idolised. It is pathetic, and I personally rank it below groveling. And you have already got a strike against your name in my book. My space with my wife and daughter is not to be intruded on again,” Wednesday growled, taking in the blatant copy of her hairstyle from the teen.
“Understood, Wednesday,” Agnes replied, somewhat chastised. “I promise I will not enter without knocking, and will always maintain a distance from you and your wolves,” Agnes agreed with a little hopeful smirk, Enid narrowing her eyes at her again.
“And you are to stay away from my daughter. She is off limits,” Enid growled almost with a near feral ferocity, pressing her claws threateningly to the redhead’s underchin, just shy of hard enough to break the skin.
“I agree with my wife on this. Our daughter is completely off limits for your schemes,” Wednesday agreed, carefully pulling Enid’s hand away, lifting it to her face and pressing a kiss to her knuckles.
“I promise I will leave her alone,” Agnes agreed sincerely, the tension in Enid’s body finally relaxing somewhat, some of the fur starting to recede from her forearms.
“You get your stalker under control. I need to feed her,” Enid huffed, possessively pulling Wednesday into a kiss, marking her territory to make it unbelievably clear that Wednesday was hers. Wednesday kissed her wife back without hesitation, silently amused by her possessive behaviour, while also trying to soothe her fiery wolf’s concerns. Breaking away from her wife, Enid walked over to the play pen and scooped Emalie up, Thing climbing onto her shoulder before Enid walked over to the rocking chair to nurse.
“I heard that last year there were fur students who harassed Enid. Would you like me to find more information about them?” Agnes offered, trying to appeal to Wednesday’s clear protective instincts for her wife and child.
“Fine. Go gather the information on all of the perpetrators,” Wednesday relented. “Now leave.”
“Of course, Wednesday,” Agnes beamed, backing up towards the door, before stopping herself. “Goodbye, Enid.”
“Get out, you little psycho,” Enid growled, Emalie starting to fuss and dropping her latch. “It’s okay, baby. Here you go,” Enid whispered softly, encouraging her nipple back into Emalie’s hungry mouth, stroking her round cheek affectionately as Emalie sighed and settled back into feeding. Without another word, Agnes took her leave, shutting the door quietly behind her with soft retreating footsteps reverberating down the staircase.
“I apologise for her untimely interruption, mi amor,” Wednesday murmured, walking over to her wife’s side, tucking Enid’s hair behind her ear. “Is she fussing?”
“It’s been a big day. Lots of travel. And her baby fangs are probably bothering her again. That or she really didn’t like Agnes,” Enid sighed, starting to gently rock on the rocking chair.
“You get her settled and I will continue with the unpacking. Lurch should be up with more shortly,” Wednesday said softly, Lurch appearing as if right on cue. “Thank you, Lurch.”
Wednesday spent the next half hour setting up all of their clothes and belongings to just as they’d left them before they’d left for the Summer break, Enid having to pause feeding Emalie a few times to comfort the upset almost 20 week old for several minutes before resuming her feeding.
“I think she needs one of her chilled teething rings,” Enid mused after settling Emalie back into finishing her feeding, wiping her daughter’s cheeks free of tears.
“I can ask my parents to prepare some at the cottage,” Wednesday replied helpfully, taking out her phone and sending a quick text to her mother.
Wednesday: Please prepare chilled teething rings for Emalie
Mother: Of course. Is she having trouble with her baby fangs?
Wednesday: It would seem so
Mother: I will ensure we have everything prepared. Do you need more baby products? We are going to purchase groceries for dinner soon.
Wednesday: Yes. Diapers and wipes please.
Mother: I will tell your father and ensure he does not go overboard.
“Mother will ensure there are some chilled teethers prepared when we visit for dinner. If her pain is particularly bad, we can give her some pain relief,” Wednesday advised, Enid taking her wife’s hand and lacing their fingers together.
“Thanks, babe. I think she’s finally settled now. But I wanna go check on Pugs and make sure he’s settled in with Genie,” Enid replied. “We should probably talk to Principal Lykaon and tell her about my name change too. Just to make sure the other teachers are aware of it and stuff,” she smiled, turning Wednesday’s hand over to kiss the scar across her palm.
“I suppose we could do that,” Wednesday agreed. “Are you thirsty, mi amor?”
“Yeah, can you get my bottle from my bag please?” Enid asked, Wednesday nodding as she released their hands and walked over to Enid’s backpack by the bed, coming back with the sparkly black hydroflask water bottle. A custom one Wednesday had gifted Enid to avoid her allergies. Enid took the offered bottle, swallowing down several long gulps of cool water with a relieved sigh. “Thank you. I think she’s pretty settled now if you wanna head down? And who knows, maybe she’ll even fall asleep after some fresh air. But I’m not gonna lie, I’m not looking forward to the assholes making those nasty comments about Em nursing again.”
“I will deal with them if they dare to even breathe wrong,” Wednesday growled softly, brandishing her black claws, Enid’s eyes sparkling with love at her wife’s protective gesture.
“Thanks, babe. Can you grab my jacket just in case please?” Enid asked, the September bite in the air making rugging up somewhat of a requirement, and gave Enid the excuse to dress Emalie in the most adorable fuzzy onesies. “Oh, and don’t forget her bunny,” Enid added, pointing to the stuffed rabbit they’d gotten her a few weeks earlier. “You know how attached she is to it.”
“That I do,” Wednesday smiled fondly, bringing Emalie’s long eared bunny over and pressing its face against her daughter’s cheek. “Mi princesita,” Wednesday cooed fondly. “Should we go see your Tio?” Enid carefully stood up from the rocking chair and Wednesday draped her jacket over Enid’s shoulders, grabbing the baby bag just in case before returning to Enid’s side with her hand resting lightly on the small of her back as she held the door open for them and left their room. They walked down the stairs in comfortable silence, getting a few odd looks from some of the newer students, a warning growl from Wednesday more than enough to have them quickly avert their eyes.
“First, we should see Principal Lykaon. Then my brother,” Wednesday insisted, gently guiding Enid to the principal's office and rapping her knuckles firmly on the old wooden doors.
“Come in,” she called from inside. Opening and holding the door open for her wife, Enid stepped in and quietly greeted the greying haired woman as she looked over her thick rimmed tortoiseshell framed glasses. “Ah, Miss Sinclair and Miss Addams! And little Emalie. To what do I owe this unexpected visit?” she greeted warmly, standing up from behind her desk, rounding it and sitting against the front of it casually.
“We’re all good. But the thing is, I’m not Enid Sinclair anymore. I’m an Addams now,” Enid replied with a nervous smile, Wednesday coming to stand beside her and her arm returning to around her waist.
“I see,” she replied evenly, glancing between the two girls. “Well I suppose congratulations are in order. And I will of course update the records to reflect the name change for you. Have you submitted the paperwork with regards to registering your mating? And I assume Emalie will still be close by with you?”
“No, we haven’t submitted any paperwork to the school, but we have the documentation if you need to verify. We registered with the local New Jersey pack and have our marriage certificate as well,” Enid offered, the Principal nodding, Wednesday making a mental note to get their paperwork from her parents at dinner late that evening. “And yes, Emalie’s still pretty attached,” Enid chuckled, gesturing to Emalie still latched, eyes now closed as she occasionally suckled. “We’re hoping she won’t be too big of a distraction now she’s a bit older and starting to talk.”
“I assume her baby fangs are starting to come in then? She’s about the right age for them,” she asked curiously.
“We think so. She’s having a harder time nursing and I think it’s because her gums hurt,” Enid replied as she rubbed her thumb over Emalie’s arm, the Principal nodded with an acknowledging hum.
“Given her age, she will also need her next round of shots. I could perhaps call the pediatrician on your behalf and arrange an appointment for next weekend if that suits?” she offered, the teens nodding appreciatively. “Your mother also applied to be the new botanical sciences teacher, which I’m sure you’re aware of.” Wednesday’s eyebrow twitched almost imperceptibly before she schooled her features again.
“Yes, I am,” Wednesday replied through clenched teeth.
“Relax, babe. Mum being a teacher isn’t gonna be that bad,” Enid murmured, nosing against the side of Wednesday’s jaw, the raven purring softly in reply. “We won’t take up any more of your time. But we’ll get the documentation to you tomorrow about our mating and stuff,” Enid said while looking at the older woman.
“I will start the paperwork for you in the meantime. And welcome back to Nevermore,” Principal Lykaon smiled warmly, standing back up and walking back to her chair, the girls taking their leave. They walked in comfortable silence through the campus to Calliban hall where Pugsley and Eugene’s dorm was, passing several confused teenage boys on their way.
“Oh, hey Enid,” a familiar voice greeted, the little family spotting a tall, lanky beanie clad boy with a dopey grin on his face as he waved at them. “Hey, Wednesday,” he continued as he got closer, coming to a stop with his clipboard at a respectable distance from the mothers.
“Hello, Ajax,” Wednesday replied, secure enough in her relationship with Enid to not feel even remotely threatened by her wife’s friendship with the Gorgon.
“You here to see Pugsley?” he asked, his eyes flicking down to Emalie peacefully sleeping in Enid’s arms.
“Yeah,” Enid replied. “Wanted to make sure he’s all settled in and stuff. And the fresh air is good for our little grumpy butt,” she smirked, lightly patting Emalie’s bottom in a soothing rhythm.
“Baby fangs?” he asked, taking both of them by surprise. “What? Gorgons get them too. My mums say mine were a nightmare and I cried for like a month straight or something. But Em probably won’t be like that,” Ajax finished with a slightly guilty expression, getting a withering glare from Wednesday for further worrying her wife. “I’ll show you to his door,” he sighed, trudging over to the open dorm room where several loud teen boys were bunking together.
The smells immediately assaulted Wednesday’s now significantly more sensitive nose, almost enough to make her stumble backwards, catching herself before anyone noticed anything was awry.
“This looks positively torturous. Pugsley will love it,” Wednesday smirked, spotting her younger brother over by one of Eugene’s terrariums, studying the bugs inside with the curly haired bespectacled boy.
“If you promise not to eat them, maybe you could help me with the bees this year? Katie gets nervous around them and Wednesday is a little too busy with your niece,” Eugene offered, pushing his chunky glasses further up the bridge of his nose.
“That’d be awesome! I’d love to help. Wednesday brought home some of the honey you guys made for Spring break and it was delicious. Plus, I prefer things with exoskeletons. The crunch is nicer,” Pugsley replied enthusiastically, Enid rolling her eyes with amused fondness.
“Please take him. I love you, Genie, but I can’t do bees. You two can enjoy your bromance at the hives,” a female voice said from up on the bee themed bunk bed, a pair of emerald green eyes faintly glowing in the dim lighting down at them, fangs glinting as she smirked.
“I get it, Katie,” Enid smiled up at the familiar teen. “I can’t do bees either.” Katie sat up and beamed before climbing down the ladder to wrap her arms around Enid in a warm side hug.
“How’s she doing?” Katie asked softly, resting her cheek against Enid’s shoulder before she realised what she was doing. “Sorry, I didn’t-”
“It’s fine. I’m okay with you being cuddly if you want,” Enid reassured the young wolf, unwilling to admit she saw a little of herself in her. “You missing your siblings and your dad?”
“Yeah,” Katie nodded, curling back into Enid’s side. “We spent a lot of time together over the Summer. I mean, dad was busy but I still got to spend it with most of my siblings. And the full moon cuddle piles and stuff were really nice. I forgot how much I missed it. It’s different with Genie and the school packs,” she continued, Enid nodding with understanding.
“I get it. It’s the same for me with my dad and brothers. And saying bye to them when they went back to San Fran was hard. But also having to watch them say bye to Em. It sucked,” Enid replied, getting slightly misty eyed at the recounting.
“You were inconsolable for well over an hour,” Wednesday added quietly, her tone gentle and not judgemental, both of them recalling the time spent cuddling together until Enid had finally cried it all out.
“Anyway,” Enid interjected. “I know it’s not the same, but you can come to me if you want to. We can’t really do full moons together just yet with Em still getting the hang of wolfing out, but maybe you can join us at Rotwood cottage on the full moons? Beats the cages, right?”
“That would be amazing. Thank you, Enid. Seriously! I’ve never really liked being locked up on full moons anyway. Kinda makes me claustrophobic,” Katie replied, squeezing Enid’s side appreciatively.
“You’re welcome. Consider us your pack away from home,” Enid smiled, resting her cheek on top of Katie’s head. “Pugs, get over here,” Enid called, her brother-in-law coming over immediately, pressing a familial peck on Enid’s cheek before looking down at his sleepy niece. “How’re you doing? Getting settled?”
“Yeah. Mum and Dad already hovered, before I convinced them to go set up the cottage,” he replied, Wednesday nodding quietly with knowing understanding.
“Well you know if you ever need to, you can come to our room.”
“Knocking first is still a requirement,” Wednesday interjected from where she had wandered over beside Eugene, quietly discussing his plans to set the hives up for hibernation. “Lest you have a repeat of the night mother and father conceived Pubert.”
“No amount of bleach will ever erase that from my eyes,” Pugsley whined.
“And the attempt at a lobotomy with Uncle Fester’s guidance was also unsuccessful,” Wednesday continued, clearly still annoyed about that failure.
“I’d ask if that’s a joke, but I know it’s not,” Enid sighed, huffing out a laugh at the absurdity of her life.
“There’s my puppy!” an older female voice called out excitedly, Katie whining as she quickly released Enid and rushed over to the taller green eyed woman standing in the doorway, catching the teen as she launched herself into her arms. Selene Polaris immediately peppered her baby sister’s face with affectionate kisses, rubbing her back gently as they both scented each other. “I gotta get going, Pup. I love you so much.”
“I love you too, mum,” Katie replied with a whimpered whine, not bothering to censor herself around present company and call Selene what she was supposed to in general company. “I’ll miss you. Call me when you land?”
“Promise. And I’ll miss you too, baby girl. But you can text me and call me whenever you want, okay? And I’ll make sure I take time off to come see you next parents weekend. Maybe even see if I can wrangle some of the others to come see their baby sister too,” Selene smiled softly into Katie’s shoulderlength brown hair. “Go be with your mate, pup. I’ll see you soon,” she insisted, letting Katie’s feet return back to the ground before cradling her teary face and pressing a kiss to her forehead as she swiped the tears away with her thumbs.
Worried about his wolf, Eugene walked over and carefully encouraged Katie into his arms, peppering kisses to her cheeks and neck.
“I’ve got her,” he assured Selene, watching the older wolf slowly leave while his mate whimpered in his arms. Wednesday and Enid watched on in quiet confusion, Eugene rubbing his mate’s back as he softly shushed her and tucked her head under his chin. “The anniversary is coming up in a few days. You know… For her mother,” he explained, understanding washing over the newlyweds.
“It’s okay, bee. I’m here,” Eugene murmured. “Come on, we can lay on my bed and snuggle. That sound good?” he offered, Katie nodding as she let the taller boy lead her up onto his bunk before he curled up behind her.
“Are you alright, Enid?” Wednesday asked carefully, concerned this would stir up mixed feelings regarding Esther.
“Yeah, I’m fine. But I wanna go see mum. Get a hug from her and Papa Gomez. You wanna come too, Pugs?” Enid murmured, Wednesday watching on with quiet concern. Pugsley nodded, the tension in the room clearly a little too thick for anyone’s comfort at this point.
The little Addams family made their way over to the cottage, walking through the front door to see Morticia tidying up the space with Lurch nearby to assist with handling the larger, heavier items.
“Yes, we will need to change this to something more suitable. Hmm? Oh! Hello, my darlings! I wasn’t expecting you for several hours. What a lovely surprise,” she smiled, walking over to her children, only to take in the tense air. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Just… Love you, mum. Very much,” Enid replied, closing the distance and curling herself into Morticia’s side, careful of the still latched Emalie in her arms.
“I love you too, my sweet,” Morticia replied, pressing a kiss to her crown of golden locks. “Come,” she urged, opening her other arm to Wednesday and Pugsley, both teens joining Enid with their mother for a much needed loving embrace.
“I am pleased you are still around to annoy me, mother,” Wednesday murmured, gripping the back of Morticia’s dress tightly.
“Me too, mamá,” Pugsley agreed, his cheek resting against her chest.
“The anniversary of Katie Polaris’ mother’s death…” Wednesday stated, unable to continue as she too pressed her cheek against her mother’s chest, nosing against the side of Enid’s neck, inhaling both of their scents deeply.
“I understand,” Morticia replied, holding them all tightly in her loving arms. “I’m here and I love you all,” she assured them, kissing them all. “Would you like to join me by the fire? I can have Lurch make some hot chocolate. Extra dark for you, my little storm cloud,” she smiled fondly.
“That sounds nice. Thanks, Lurch,” Enid replied, looking over at the tall butler with an appreciative smile as he walked off into the kitchen with a groan.
“Now, how’s la lobita?” Morticia asked after sitting on the couch with the teens, Emalie falling off her loose latch, letting Enid hand her over to her grandmother while she adjusted herself.
“She’s settled,” Enid replied, watching as Morticia carefully looked in Emalie’s mouth, seeing the bumps in her gums where her baby fangs were erupting.
“I could prepare a tincture for her to help ease her discomfort?” Morticia offered, rubbing the infant’s chest lightly to ease her back into a deeper sleep, shushing her softly. “Has she had any more hiccups?”
“Not today,” Wednesday replied, taking a pillow from the couch and laying down on the carpet by the fire with a relaxed sigh. “Her last hiccup transformation was two days ago.”
“Maybe you should ask dad to get a dog harness so she doesn’t run off,” Pugsley half joked. “It took nearly half an hour to catch her last time.”
“It’s not the worst idea. But we will probably also need to recall train her too,” Enid replied with an exhausted sigh. “I bet if I asked Yoko she’d go out and buy one in a heartbeat,” she half-heartedly chuckled. “I can’t believe I’m about to do this,” Enid sighed as she shook her head and pulled out her phone, texting the request to her bestie, getting a thumbs up emoji in reply.
