Chapter 1: Last Flowers-Saiki's Version

Chapter Text

My name is Kusuo Saiki, and I am a psychic. I don’t exactly enjoy having the ability. It puts immense pressure on me to have to keep the secret from all my friends- ahem. Excuse me, my classmates. Not to mention, my parents always need me to do this and that. It’s usually things they could do themselves, too, but they ask me anyway.
“Kusuo, help! I’m late for work!”
Well, speak of the devil. That’s my father. He asks me for help the most, due to him having awful time perception. Good grief.
“Yeah, coming,” I speak back telepathically. I don’t ever speak directly unless I’m surprised, and I’m never surprised. I quickly get dressed in my uniform and grab my bag.

After getting my dad to work and getting to school, I realize I didn’t eat breakfast. Usually, my mom would force something down my throat. She didn’t even say good morning to me. Weird.
“Saiki! Buddy!” I hear. I know that voice anywhere. I turn around, seeing my butt-chinned classmate, Nendou. He somehow latched onto me like a leech and won’t leave. “Let’s get ramen, buddy!”
“We have class,” I speak back.
“So? C’mon, it’s ramen time!”
“No.”
“Aw, party pooper!”
My phone rings as I switch my shoes; it’s my father. I’ll just talk to him when I get home. I think to myself.
“Who’s calling you? Can I say hi?”
I ignore him, as I ignore the phone call as well. He calls again. The third time my father calls, I answer. “I’m at school, don’t call-”
“Kusuo!!” My father sounds distressed. And like he’s crying. I mean, it’s not out of the ordinary, but why would he call me during school?
“Are you crying?”
“Your mother- she-” A hiccup interrupts him.
Are they getting divorced? That's my immediate thought, then I immediately remember that they’re disgustingly in love.
“What’s wrong with mom? Does she have the flu or something? You know the flu only lasts a week.”
“She’s in the hospital!”
The phone slips out of my hand, falling to the ground. What? That can’t be, I would’ve had a vision.
“Buddy? You dropped your phone! What’s wrong!?” I think that’s what Nendou said, but my ears are ringing. I can’t faintly hear my dad yelling incoherently where my phone lay on the floor, screen cracked.
This has to be a sick joke. I’d have had a vision. Well, if she’s not dead, I guess I wouldn’t have. And it wouldn’t affect many people...but still. There’s no way.
I come back to my senses and pick up my phone.
“-and you gotta come get me and gp there right now!”
“...I’ll be there in 2,” I say, hanging up.
“Where are we going, buddy? Getting ramen?” Nendou says. I ignore him, walking out of the school, ears ringing, barely forming a single thought. I don’t realize I’m gripping my phone until the whole device shatters in my hand. I just drop the pieces and keep walking. I squat down in a bush and teleport.
