Chapter 4: The Steamer of Camden

Chapter Text

A fairly nice day in Camden, of course Dolly Dalmatian’s on her skateboard, having left Dylan in charge of the pups, she figured she’d have at least a few hours before the situation got too out-of-control when a shrill whistle blasted the surrounding area, causing her to lose focus and wipe out, “glad no-one was here to see that…” she muttered standing on all fours, looking around to identify the source of the noise, it blasted again, this time, Dolly followed

Eventually Dolly encountered a seemingly random shed, where the blasts came from, upon entering, she saw a yellow Saddle-tank steam engine, its nameplate had been scraped off, almost intentionally, it’s whistle blew again. Dolly, fed up with that dang whistle entered the cab to give someone a piece of her mind when the engine started with no-one inside, she would’ve jumped had she not suddenly felt exhausted, and had the engine not sped up so quickly, she fell asleep quickly…

Dolly began to wake up slowly. “Didja sleep well?” a childlike voice asked, once her brain started enough to register the talking electric blanket in front of her she immediately jumped to the nearest high-spot, a stove top, “Do you mind!?” the stove grunted, Dolly leaped for the fridge, “WATCH THE CLAWS!” the fridge scolded, Dolly jumped off and accidentally ran head-first into the sink, knocking herself unconscious, a few minutes passed before she woke up “Are you okay?” a more mature voice asked, “Oh Dylan you’ll never believe it, i had this dream where the appliances were talk-” her eyes opened to see a blue toaster, a brown desk-lamp, a vacuum cleaner, and a radio standing in front of her, the radio being the only one not to have a face, however it still managed to look confused, “-ing” Dolly realized she was wrapped in a blanket, and that’s when the grey face o the electric blanket appeared again “who’s Dylan?” the child-like voice arose, “so i really am in a world of talking electronics…” Dolly stated, “well no duh” Dolly looked over on the kitchen counter-top to see a rat in a cage, leaning against the bars. The appliances mumbled amongst themselves, wondering how not knowing that appliances were alive was even possible, well, for someone who it wasn't hidden from as a rule, “where’d ya say you were from my spotted compodre?” the radio asked, he seemed almost as if he was overcompensating for his lack of face with his 1950s radio-host voice and demeanor, “Camden…” Dolly answered hesitantly, “Camden?” the toaster repeated, “GOT IT!” another voice shouted from another room, a computer tower and monitor jumped in from the other room, the monitor plugging into an outlet quickly, “according to my-” the tower was interrupted by the monitor “according to my sources, Camden is-” the computer tower smacked the monitor with one of many plugs “Camden is a Northern district in London England" the tower finished “ENGLAND!?” the Toaster, Lamp, Radio, Blanket, and Vacuum all repeated, “yes, jolly good place ‘tis, oh how i miss it” the monitor stated, “Hewlett you moron you’ve never been to London!” the tower exclaimed, “Well Packard, maybe i was with a different tower before you” the monitor retorted, the two began bickering like siblings in a way that… kinda reminded Dolly of her relationship with Dylan, yeah they hated each other's guts sometimes but in the end needed each other “IM DONE!” they yelled in unison, each crossing their wires like arms, “can we at least call Wittgenstein?” the Toaster asked, “Nope” both the computer’s said “right… welp, it’s been a while since we’ve stretched our legs i guess…” the Toaster said optimistically, Dolly was still a little confused, “wait we don't have legs!” the desk lamp pointed out, everyone laughed a bit “but… we don't!" the lamp insisted
