Here are gathered all the good redemption arcs for my favorite characters and fandoms.
I freakin' love redemption arcs, I am a sucker for redemption and love fanfics, I can't get enough of them. :')
I have the utmost respect for people who redeem the "villains" instead of killing them off or making them disappear.

"A feeling of calmness slowly made it's way into his head; he realized it was Charles. It washed over him, making the burning in his chest ease, and then retreated. He could feel air entering his lungs again. He wasn't dying.
He took in a few deep breaths, encouraged by Charles, who hasn't stopped talking softly even for a second, giving him something to hang on to. After a while he was able to open his eyes and see the man in front of him, looking worried as ever."
"Soon he was returning a hug, wrapping his arms around the man, holding onto him like on dear life. He buried his face in the crook of his neck, and a violent sob shook his whole body. Hot tears streamed down his face. He didn't realize how badly he wanted this, and that he just needed to let this all out. Or how tense and touch-starved he was. He couldn't even remember the last time somebody hugged him, or the last time he allowed himself to shed more than a few silent tears. But now Charles' hand was caressing his back, and he could weep as long as he needed to.
It felt safe, on the floor, in Charles' embrace.
After he finally stopped crying they just sat there, neither of them letting go. Both were still too shaken, one of them barely finished choking on his own tears, and the other losing his mind out of worry and fear. Erik's tiredness also got in the way, as he was trying not to doze off right there. Charles seemed to pick up this feeling, because he decided to break the silence."
"Erik's drowning in chaos mind was hard to fight off once he entered it back then, and he saw too much. Way too much. Now he understood why Erik would put himself under all that torture, at least to a certain level. It felt like someone was stabbing him directly in the heart when he thought about all the suffering Erik went through, about all the horrible things he relived over and over again. No matter what he was thinking, he didn't deserve this. Nobody did.
It was around 8 p.m., way earlier than he would go to sleep normally, so that was another reason why he couldn't doze off. This and the sick feeling in his stomach when he remembered the violent images of pain and death he accidentally saw. Trying to erase his own memories was tempting.
Erik didn't even ask for that, even though he could. He was just so exhausted after all those days without sleep... Charles should have did something sooner. He needed to keep a close eye on him from now on. And scold the ever loving shit out of him for engaging in such self destructive behavior, but later, when he'll be sure that it won't do more harm. He couldn't let Erik get to that state again. He's already hurt himself enough.
Charles untangled himself from Erik's arms, which wasn't exactly easy. He needed to change. He definitely didn't expect Erik to do so; this man couldn't even think properly last time he was conscious, and he was not waking him up anytime soon.
He moved around the room, keeping his mind focused on Erik's. He promised to shield him from those horrors his brain was showing him, and he was going to do exactly that."
"Erik snuggled closer to whatever he was hugging. It was warm, his mind was calm, and someone was playing with his hair. The most comfortable he's felt in ages."
"Charles' cheeks still were a light shade of pink, which made him look even more adorable than usually. Erik noticed a strand of hair on his forehead that begged to get tucked away by him."
"Then he intertwined their fingers together."

Summary
It was so much more than just Charles's posh voice when Erik knew the real Charles.
It was the deeper voice he used in the bedroom, clouded with lust as he ordered Erik around or offered words of encouragement. The sleepy voice first thing in the morning when he just wanted five more minutes. His passionate voice as he starts rambling on and on about genetics or mutations.
