    Hello,

We are actively working to combat spam on the site in a variety of ways. If you see a spambot comment from a registered user, please report the comment by selecting "Thread" to get the specific comment link and scrolling to the bottom of the page to the Policy Questions & Abuse Reports. From there you can report the comment. Please enter "Spambot" in the "Brief summary of Terms of Service violation" field and write "This is a spambot, their username is USERNAME" in the "Description of the content you are reporting" field.

You can also refer to our news post, Spambot Comments on AO3. Hope this helps!

    1. Thanks. In that case, would it be better to continue blocking them as I've been doing, but leave the deleting to you? If they're signed in, I block them; if they're not, I hit the spam button.

I don't suppose you can do anything about the unregistered spammers.

      1. The only thing you can effectively do against unregistered spammers is to restrict comments to signed-in members only and/or enable comment moderation in order to approve each comment individually, I'm afraid ...

        1. Sad to say, I may end up having to do that.

Meanwhile, speaking of which, I have just submitted a report of a registered spammer, whom I have also blocked.

        Hello,

If you're having trouble receiving emails from AO3, check your spam folder or contact AO3 Support.

You are welcome to continue to block or mute any registered users leaving spam comments as it says in the instructions for reporting spam from registered users.

Please don't report comments that have already been deleted. As part of handling a report about spam comments (whether from guests or registered accounts), Policy & Abuse will remove other comments made by the same bot.

If you have specific questions about how spam is handled that aren't answered by the Spambot Comments on AO3 post, you can contact Policy & Abuse for more help.

To protect users, we don't allow comments that contain names or links to specific works or users, so your comment has been hidden. Future comments like this will also be hidden.
