Summary
With no other viable options in the cantina, Hera figured she might as well keep the CC entertained for a while. It was getting late and she hadn’t decided if she was in the mood for a mediocre orgasm on a nice hard xenodick or just taking care of herself. Sometimes a warm body, even one that she immediately tossed out of the bar when she was done with them, was something she wouldn’t deny herself on a slow night.
She was on Coruscant alone.
“You know,” a female voice commented from the end of the bar. No, not just a voice. It was a beautiful, smoky, female voice that was lilted with a Ryl accent. “That Galle can be trouble.”
The voice was like music to Hera’s ears as it continued from behind her. “Actually, Galle’s General wonders if he recalls that he has drill in five hours.”
“Fuck,” the ever-obnoxious trooper groaned. “I’m out, boys.”

Summary
Stance gave a slight shrug as he answered, his brown skin flushing over his cheeks in a way that made his brown eyes seem to sparkle with that youthful exuberance just a little bit more. “More like he was just Knighted last week and had a really bad first mission,” he explained with a wry smile. “He’s taking it kind of hard and I thought he could use some cheering up. I’m pretty sure that you’d find him up to your standards?”
It was almost painful not to burst into laughter at his suggestion.
A Jedi Knight needed some cheering up after a bad mission, so Stance brought him to her: the Twi’lek bartender who had a reputation for destroying clones. Despite the urge to laugh at the kid’s twisted but sweet sentiment, she maintained a completely neutral tone as she stared at him with convincingly fake offense twisting her expression. “You do realize that asking me to fuck your friend because he’s sad is one step away from asking me to give him a hand job for fifty credits, right?”

Summary
Finally letting go of her lightsaber, Aayla watched as the too-tall-to-be-a-clone visitor removed his helmet. Her eyes immediately widened in surprise. She’d heard rumors among the men but she didn’t actually believe it was true. Not him; he had always been such a rigid and righteous Jedi, even when they were just younglings. There was no way that she would have ever believed it unless she’d seen it with her own eyes.
Now that she was, even though it was still difficult to believe, the fact that Hera was thoroughly enjoying it was confirmation that the rumors were true.
That wicked, wicked woman.
“Caleb Dume! You silly man, what are you doing?” Aayla finally asked, trying her best not to laugh.

Summary
Caleb stepped out of his room in a pair of gray trousers with a hideous thick green sweater and–for the love of the Force–his brown boots that he wore with his robes.
“Absolutely not,” Aayla said, extending her finger back toward the room. “They give us more than one pair of shoes, Dume. Don’t let me see those again.”
“What’s wrong with it?” he asked, frustration plain in his voice as he looked down at the outfit. “It’s mostly civvies.”
“Literally everything is wrong with it. Go try again,” she replied more firmly, still holding her finger out for him to go back into his room.

Summary
“That woman has ruined you,” she said with a shake of her head. Honestly, she was still amused at how much of a disaster he was. “Pull that tie out and I’ll do what I can.”
Caleb exhaled a sigh of relief, doing as she requested. “Thank you.”
“I wouldn’t thank me just yet. I don’t have hair…best I can promise is that at least all of it will be in the tie long enough for you to get back to your quarters,” she mumbled, running her nails through the soft strands to try to make them look a little less unruly. “So you actually slept there? I bet she looked like a wild tooka trapped in a corner when you woke up.”
“She was still sleeping,” he said, the tone of his voice sounding almost dreamy. “I had to pry myself out of her lekku, actually. I’m surprised I didn’t wake her.”

Summary
When Hera first came to Coruscant, the war against the Separatists had been going on for so long that the parts of the galaxy unaffected by the unceasing destruction and terror had pulled themselves away from the around the clock coverage on the holonews and returned to their normal lives. Hera knew that the Galaxy’s capital wasn’t affected like Ryloth had been; her homeworld was war-torn, ravaged by firebombs and armies of countless destructive droids. Her people were starving, trapped behind Separatist blockades that kept humanitarian efforts trying to ease the suffering of the war’s innocent bystanders. Even though Coruscant wasn’t under direct attack, Hera foolishly assumed that the planet would be more aware of the war that was tearing apart dozens of systems across the galaxy.

Summary
Even when Hera first came to Coruscant and started working at 79s, she’d never seen the cantina so packed full of clones, and they only seemed to keep flooding in.
The first three sleepless days spent continuously washing down weak shots her brandy left Hera feeling not inconsiderably disoriented but her body’s own adrenaline kept her going, fueled by a need to pay attention to the conversation of every clone that walked in. They all bragged of their spoils of war, of the blood that streaked or splattered their armor, treating it like carefully curated art. Somehow, all of them were still doing shots in celebration each time a name was called out. After the number of shots they’d all done, Hera didn’t understand how she could keep going.

Summary
Hera slid a fingertip over his lips, her eyes finding his beneath the dark hood. “It was the best way to get us off Coruscant alive. I know you hate this and I know that it’s awful but you have to understand that I’m used to this, Caleb. I’m a Twi’lek woman. I grew up knowing this could happen, that it was always a possibility no matter what I did to protect myself. This whole playing the pet to your Master? It’s the best case scenario for a Twi’lek woman imaginable because it isn’t real,” she murmured. “I know that you don’t want to hear this but this is absolutely no different from any other day on Coruscant from me outside of the fact that I’m wearing a collar. You have to stop going on about how tragic it is. The only thing that matters is that we’re going home.”
“Fine, but I’m still going to spend the rest of my life making it up to you,” he grumbled before begrudgingly accepting—or was he giving it to her?—a kiss.
There was the feeling of a smile against his lips. “The rest of your life, huh?”

Summary
Hera was still stunned silent when Caleb turned to face her. There deep copper of his skin flushed even deeper and a slightly guilty expression crept over his handsome face. Those damn dangerous eyes, the color of the sea, were sparkling so dangerously. Just as she was staring at him in stupefaction, he seemed to be looking at her with the same awed gaze.
“What?” she asked, finally breaking the silence between them.
“Nothing,” he responded, his mouth pulled into that boyish half grin of his. Just briefly, he let his eyes dance over her body before his gaze met hers once more. “It’s just,” he paused to give a slight huff, like a man who couldn’t believe his luck. “You’re beautiful. That’s all.”
It was Hera’s turn to feel her cheeks warm, the flush running to the lengths of her lekku. Leave it to her idiot Human to get all wound up over her wearing normal clothes. Caleb was was her idiot Human and she’d never be able to describe how much she loved that he was standing there nearly slack jawed by seeing less of her flesh when the man had seen her naked in a hundred different positions.

Summary
The Tann Province, for all of the hell that the Separatists put Ryloth through, looked nearly untouched by war. All of the rubble was moved outside the edge of the province, homes were whole once again, the markets were open, and her people looked like they were going about their lives like they hadn’t just been through a war. On the surface, the province looked like the promise that her mother always made that one day, our home will return to one that knows nothing but peace—allegedly, it had been that way before Hera was born. It was a promise that always preceding stories of a time that Hera quit believing were true when she was old enough to know better, stories that her mother used to distract her while bombs rocked the perimeter surrounding their home.
Even though everything looked like the normal that her mother promised when she was a child, Hera knew something wasn’t quite right.

Summary
“Do you harbor feelings for my daughter? Why was it so important to you?”
Stance shook his head.
“Not at all, sir. Hera was kind to me, in her own way. My General is…or was Caleb, but more than that, he was my friend. We’ve worked together for years, when we were both fresh on the ground,” he spoke softly, not missing the sense of sadness to his words as he spoke of a friend who’d lost too much and was about to lose even more. “Almost three years ago, Caleb lost somebody that he loved very much, another Twi’lek, one of the Jedi he grew up with at the Temple. After a couple of failed attempts at trying to introduce him to some other people, I started trying to talk him into meeting Hera. It took me months to convince him but when he finally gave in? She brought out something in him that I hadn’t seen since Sammo died. I got him back to Coruscant and to Hera because he wanted to protect her, but I did it for Caleb, too. She makes him act like himself again. I know that he isn’t a Twi’lek, but they were meant for each other, Sir.”
“Sammo,” he repeated. “That is a common name amongst our men.”
“Yes, Sir,” Stance answered.

Summary
Starting on the day that they married, Hera and Caleb formed a routine.
Hera would not so casually declare that she was tired and going to bed, she’d conveniently forget to put any clothes in before slipping beneath the blankets, and Caleb would eventually join her. For the first week of their newly developed routine, when Caleb climbed into bed with her, he hadn’t forgotten his clothing at all under the assumption that his wife was actually wanting to get some sleep. The fact that it had taken him almost a full week to recognize a certain step in that routine that was highly critical to the efficient development of their routine was something that Hera would still tease him for on occasion.

Summary
“I thought the healer told you to take it easy and that your strength would come,” Caleb said, feigning a tone of authority with her. “You’re wearing away the flooring.”
“The healer doesn’t know what I’m capable of,” she retorted stubbornly, not looking up from the path that she paced.
With their fingers intertwined, Hera followed closely behind him as they stepped into Aayla’s room. Stance was already there, where he’d stayed almost constantly since Aayla woke up. Today, he was safely at her side as she paced the length of her room.“Stance knows that you’re capable of landing on your ass when you don’t wait for help,” the man muttered from her side.
“And you weren’t supposed to tattle on me,” Aayla said indignantly, her lekku stiffening along her back and then curling inward.
Rolling his eyes, Stance took her arm to pull her off of her intended path. “Back to your bed or back to the chair. You need to rest and you have visitors anyway.” After a beat he added, “And don’t think that I haven’t picked up on Twi’leki since being on Ryloth. I’m learning Ryl, too. So you can keep your angry little lekku to yourself.”

Summary
Hera elbowed Stance hard in the side, making him double over almost immediately. The response drew an actual laugh past her lips even though she’d only done it for an excuse to put some distance between them. Causing him actual pain was a nice added bonus, she decided.
“Brain surgery,” Caleb said, emphasizing both words heavily. “He had brain surgery like four days ago.”
“Yeah,” she sighed as if he were being tedious. “Why else would I have hit him in his side?”
Stance groaned slightly as he straightened back out. “I think they can get that surgical droid back if you guys really wanna take him up on the personality transplant. I’d even pay for it.”
“You do realize that if either one of us agreed to your offer that we’d be the ones in need of the surgeon, right?” Caleb asked with a slight arch to his brow. After a quick glance in Hera’s direction and a wink, he turned his eyes back to Stance. “We’ll keep her the way that she is.”

Summary
The rich warmth of her accent and the dulcet intonation of her voice made her mother’s words sound more like an ancient and sweet Ryl song when she replied, “I want you to follow your heart no matter where it calls, my daughter. Just promise me that you’ll remember if you ever get lost amongst the stars or your dreams or desires, home is where your story begins.”
