Summary
Our protagonist, a fresh-as-a-daisy young man starting at Kyoto University, has a bright, colorful future ahead of him. Drawn happily in on the promise of the esteemed "rose-colored campus life," he joins a musical theatre group, specializing in bizarre hit-and-run performances with an attitude better suited to Guerilla warfare.
But his rose-colored future goes to pieces when he befriends the diabolical creep Ozu, whose incomprehensible schemes thrust him headlong down an ill-advised path of chaos, confusion, and loneliness. The protagonist rebels against both the world and himself, the only salvation from his masochistic struggle coming in the form of Akashi, an underclassmen with a striking intelligence and cool composure that he simply can't resist.
