Summary
Phantom Thieves of Hope is a crossover fanfic combining two of my favorite series: Danganronpa and Persona 5. It reimagines the main Danganronpa protagonists forming their own version of the Phantom Thieves, which can also be read here on my AO3.
Inspired by the mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom X, this spinoff of that story explores the concept of Phantom Idols—cognitive beings created in the Velvet Room, shaped by the protagonist's perception of people they’ve known or interacted with, especially those with strong desires. These beings support the protagonist like idols, as described by Merope, the game’s Velvet Room attendant.
Phantom Idols wield Persona Duos, or Persona II's born from Shadows in Mementos and the desires within the protagonist’s cognition.
This spinoff is an anthology of short stories featuring Phantom Thieves of Hope characters, who do not have Persona's and are not the core Phantom Thieves, reimagined as Phantom Idols. They assist in missions and gain unique Personas and thief identities not seen in the original fic.
It’s a non-canon, just-for-fun side project updated alongside the main story.
