The library was quiet when Izuku's tattoo started to burn. He hissed from the surprise, dropping his quill and spattering ink all over his translation tome. By the time he reached behind his shoulder to soothe the ache, the pain had faded to a mere whisper.
But Izuku grabbed his satchel and gathered his things. A checklist raced through his mind; all the things he would need to survive a trip on the road. He turned and reached for his staff, the weight of it heavy in his hands when they clenched tightly around the shaft. He'd had that tattoo eight years, but it had never caused him pain before.
Kacchan had never been in trouble before.
Whispers found his ears in the following days. A dragon had been felled in Kolrioch.
