Summary
Twenty years ago, King Adam and Queen Belle united not only in marriage but also the kingdoms to form Auradon. Along with this, High King Adam created an isle, a prison for the worst of the worst called the "Isle of the Lost". He placed all of the evil twisted souls there, even bringing back some of them to life since "Death was too good for villains".
In present day Auradon, Crown Prince Benjamin has taken plight on the children of the villains and along with Princess Sofie White works towards giving them a chance to live in Auradon to atone for all the wrong done to them.
On the other side of things, Malice is ordered by her mother Maleficent to, along with her gang, the Core Four, accept their invitation to Auradon and steal Fairy Godmother's wand. Malice, in fear of disappointing her mother, does her utmost to fulfill her wish to take over the world but the completely new environment of Auradon fills her with doubt at every turn.
Will the Core Four manage to steal the wand?
Will Benjamin's wish come true?
And why do Malice and Benjamin dream of each other?(I'd recommend you read "Isle of the Lost" by Melissa de la Cruz since I'll make a lot of references to it)

While saving Ben from the Pirates on the rescue of Mal, they make a quick escape and then realize that they left Carlos behind. With so much press on them, they can't immediately return to save Carlos like the Prince wants. Months later, while Ben is left alone with his emotions, he takes the rescue into his own hands.
Carlos never wanted to set foot on the Isle again. He never thought that Harry Hook would be the one he would take solace in. He has never felt so wanted the way Harry and Gil have made him feel. Harry must put all his energy into protecting him, even when a certain villain now running the Isle catches wind of it. Carlos' biggest want was not to be face-to-face with his parents.
Harry has always wanted a shipmate. He hadn't thought it would be the runt in Mal's crew. Harry enjoyed keeping Carlos warm at night and looking after him for a month. When the Prince of Auradon took away his Mutt, only one thing was on Harry and Gil's minds... revenge. -

Auradon and The Isle were never supposed to interact. Magical Barriers, an ocean, and a magic bridge kept them from ever communicating. On top of that, The Aurodonians feel as though the kids on the isle were lost causes. All they did was be born! The hierarchy was something that always confused Ben. Which is funny, because he is a prince.

"I don't think your dad wants a guy like me around," Carlos laughed, pressing his head into Ben's shoulder. "Not when I'm the type of person he'd go after."
Ben looked hurt. "I wouldn't go after you," he said. "At least, not in a way that would hurt you."

It was Family Day.
The V.Ks were milling around, subtly sticking together, pretending they couldn't feel the gazes on them, judging, suspicious.
None of them had wanted to come. They hadn't wanted to subject themselves to this—a day of unease, of bearing the weight of the people's distrust. They hadn't wanted to spend the entire day walking on eggshells, shoulders hunched and faces sullen, made to carry guilt that didn't belong to them.

Following his election, Beast wanted to round up all the villains, sidekicks, dark fairies, witches, sorcerers, etc. and trap them on an island in the middle of the ocean with a magical barrier to keep them there forever. However, word got around about Beast’s alleged plan and his rumored decision to isolate all villains on a remote island sparked rebellion. All the villains rained havoc on Auradon, forcing Auradon to fight back, creating a civil war. The war didn't last long, only a year, but nonetheless, it claimed countless lives on both sides. In the end, the villains lost the war, so Beast, seeking to restore order and retribution, instituted a harsher punishment: The Hunger Games, or formally known as “The Treaty of Peace.” A reminder of the rebellion's cost and a guarantee against future defiance towards Auradon.
That's how fourteen-year-old Carlos De Vil found himself being hauled off to Auradon for slaughter along with twenty-three other VK’s for the eighteenth annual Hunger Games. What will he do when there’s nothing left to cling onto but hope?
