Summary
Skin burnt and torn from muscle. His wrecked body left incapable of ever healing itself. One remaining eye, constantly dry. Constantly witnessing. Tendons dissolved, turning his body to a statue-esque prison. His raw flesh burns under the intense, biting air that engulfs him. He takes a deep breath, letting the concentrated nitrogen flow into his lungs and course through his veins. Finally, this would all be over soon. He hopes this metal pod will become his coffin.
Then Curly wakes up.

Summary
After being frozen in the cryopod, Curly wakes up the night before the crash as if it was all just a bad dream. He's determined to use this second chance to stop the Tulpar from crashing and, more importantly, protect Anya. Keeping it all together until they get to Earth is pretty difficult with the new perspective he's gotten on the man he used to consider a best friend, though.

Jimmy’s head was foggy, every nerve in his body thrumming with pain.
He groaned, tried to sit up—only to find he couldn’t. His wrists and ankles burned when he pulled. He was tied down, spread across silk sheets. A bed. It was cool against his bare skin. His chest hitched as the blindfold pressed against his eyes and the bruises along his ribs flared hotter with each breath.
Panic came slowly, then all at once. His lungs forgot how to work, sucking in air in ragged bursts. His heart hammered so hard he could hear it in his ears. His mind shuffled through last night's memories.
A night of drinking, confessions, and filthy slurs.
He felt bile creeping up the back of his throat.
